Sounds like captain material, someone who actually cares
Yeah what a roll model ,sent off ridiculously twice costing him and us badly ,missed the play offs due off field dalliances ,history of messing with substances ,couldn't give a shit half the time ,one of the laziest players ever to play for us. What a great captain.

I can't imagine Jose being in a fight. He has always struck me as someone who might gob off but will be hiding behind Scougs when the fists start flying.

Mike Stephenson on twitter hinting that it's more than just the fall out in the dressing room it's something that happened after and will most likely cost him his sufc career.

bulmer adding:

"Looks like he's in deeper water now, he's become the focus of a criminal investigation!"

wtf?

If he was kicking off at half time against the Shrews I can only assume there is a big mirror in the dressing room or he has schizophrenia. He was partly culpable for all 3 from memory.

I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be right. In the long run it might make sense to get rid of him and McNulty when the first good offers come in. They seem to be magnets for trouble due to seemingly only having half a brain between them.

He's made to play just behind the strikers, 'in the hole', as they like to say. PLAY HIM THERE PLEASE.

He's one of our only natural finishers and would be a constant goal threat. As well as that, he'll be closer to the strikers so will be able to find the runs of Sharp and Done more easily.

He can't tackle AT ALL. Every time he lunges in (with 2 feet usually), I'm worried he'll see red.

This line up and try your best to find in the next couple of transfer windows, in order of importance:

1) Centre back
2) Central midfielder with more legs than Hammond but can do a similar role
3) Another centre back
4) A better goalkeeper
5) A big man who can actually cause problems with his size
6) A direct right winger with a bit of end product and goal threat

Good luck Adkins.

Baxter when fit should play between midfield and a lone forward and as a few have said he should have very few defensive duties to worry about. On Saturday if he'd have been fit he could have played instead of Coutts. Over the last few dire months he's been one of the few players not to hide, another has been JCR. Baxter has still been trying to pick a pass or make something happen, even if it doesn't always come off, ditto with JCR who has always attacked his opposing full back even if his crosses have been erratic.

Adkins wants to start putting round pegs in round holes, for starters, and players that have shown some level of form. I'd suggest:-

Long
Brayford - New CH - New CH - K Wallace
JCR- Basham - New hard man midfield player - Done
Baxter
New Target man

I think that side is awful ,Long not good enough ,K Wallace not good enough ,Basham only in midfield of 3 ,Done is not a left winger ,1 striker doesn't work in the 3rd division. But as long as Baxter gets an easy ride with no responsibility ?
That for me is a relegation team unless you have Beckenbaur and Moore as our new CHs with Souness in the middle and Greaves up front.

We'd get completely dominated through the middle if we lined up like that. I think the only way we could accommodate Baxter is to play him in the hole behind a lone striker (which we don't have anyone capable of doing) in a 4-2-3-1, with two holding midfielders protecting the back four, preferably someone more mobile than Hammond, Basham or Coutts.

Kieran Wallace has shown some form at left back, Done played well at Barnsley on Saturday, admittedly him and JCR where the opposite way round on the wings, Long has played well since he get back in the first team and Baxter has played well recently.

I think Coutts could tuck in and Baxter could drop back in if we're losing the midfield battle.

I'll say up front that I'm not a Collins fan and I consider some of his bollockings to be out of order but he does show backbone and remind the others of their responsibilities and gets pilloried for it by everyone on here.
I'd disagree completely. He's the most spineless player we've got. Never takes responsibility and seems to blame everyone else.

He needs to man up and start taking things on the chin, hold his hands up and lead us.

John Terry? ;)

It would mean you have to rely on Baxter tracking back and Coutts covering a lot of ground, which I just don't see happening. Not worth the risk if you ask me. We'll agree to disagree though.

Lets just fuck Baxter off then, the only midfielder who scores and assists, it's fucking incredible at times on here. We have midfielders who do fuck all yet Baxter who actually does something always gets tarnished the bad guy out of the lot of them, baffling.

Baxter isn't a defensive minded player, that's what Hammond and Coutts' job is. What we could do with is a midfielder that can do all the jobs a midfielder is supposed to do but that doesn't look like happening anytime soon so we make do with Baxter scoring and assisting with the other 2 players supposedly doing the donkey work for Baxter to flourish, all this being a 3 in midfield with 2 players, preferably Done and Adams supporting 1 attacker, most likely Sharp.

Ultimately, we can ill afford a player to go who is atleast helping us stay out of the relegation jone, we'd be in shitcreek without him, unless some of the others can step up to the plate which is looking increasingly unlikely.

The other way of looking at it is maybe we are where we are because we are accommodating him. Don't look at it as a personal or individual situation but more of a team one.

We've struggled to fit him into any formation since he signed. I think the only positions he can successfully play in this league, with our players, is just behind a single striker or a free role in a 5 man midfield.

He simply offers nothing defensively and we aren't good enough to carry him.

He'll struggle to track back if he's wearing a tag.

Baxter has his deficiencies but all this talk about Baxter as if he is the only one being "carried" is laughable - the whole lot of them have weaknesses which Adkins is having to try and accommodate. So why single out Baxter? Basham, Long, Collins, Hammond, Sharp, Sammon, Freeman, Scougall, the Wallaces, Harris, Edgar, Howard, Magahey, Reed, Adams etc are so obviously complete world class players the mind boggles how much Baxter has to pay Adkins to pick him.

Indeed - to play Baxter he has to be relieved of any defensive duties. Shrewsbury targeted that area - Baxter at RM and Freeman who is good going forward, but lacks defensive stability. No surprise, the beard is back at RB after just 1 U21 game.

Adkins has tried Baxter all over the place - except up front or in the hole. We may not see him there either due to Adkins summer signings.

It's a shame, but it seems some of our Clough players have to go as Adkins changes the style of play.

This is unfortunately what you get by changing managers...........and SOME want us to change again - madness. We must allow Adkins to change it - and yes, accepted, there might be more pain.

Bradford played 3 times for u21 not just the once

He played in 3 matches and didn't finish one which makes his performance on sat amazing.
If true about the bust up at half time (re-shrews)that's the kind of passion we want more of it please, players dont have to be best of pals
Just give it their best shot and if a player or two are not giving everything then calling them out will bring a response and that's good.Bring it on.

I am absolutely staggered that people think Baxter is a definsive liability but Coutts isn't! I am by no means Baxters biggest fan at all but he offers far more both offensively and defensively than Coutts who would struggle to do a lap of the pitch!

Oi, red cards=balls and that's what we need right now some courage

Baxter definitely travelled on Saturday so he hasn't been frozen out of the fold completely. He was stood on the sideline with McGahey and another (I think it was Diego) whilst the other players were warming up.

It's amazing how we all see it differently isn't it? Because he cant move well, some offer him up for the holding midfielder. I'd say his tackling ability is below his movement - I really can't see him in that (or any) position.

Yes Baxter was at Barnsley, the team apparently went to Ireland after for there Christmas do and it sounds like where this incident occurred
