But it is only life here. No other club in recent years has wallowed to the extent that we have post relegation from Division Two.

No, I agree with you. We're exceptionally toss. The problem is that, now having become established division three toss (like a shit sixth-former who's been sent back to study with the fourth year students), we've got to build momentum from scratch while competing against all sorts of cocky upstarts - any reputation we've had has effectively been buried by now. We're in a big hole (one that's getting bigger) that we've somehow got to get out of, without there being any easy solutions.

Certainly speeding up the clear-out (which has encouragingly gathered pace recently) would help. As would being a bit more dynamic in the loan market (yesterday saw Wigan get yet another decent forward for this level in in Alex Revell, while also tiny Fleetwood got the enormously promising Tariqe Fosu in from our Nige's former club). But more than anything, we need real traditional fight from those already here.

I don't think all this being favourites helps. My memory goes back to 1988/1989, and my recollection is that we weren't fancied to do owt that season. What reputation the name Sheffield United might have had was well gone.

Fan or Customer? It's all about perceptions. I perceive myself as a fan but I want the club to perceive me as a customer.

Those working at the club have made a choice to work for SUFC and the fact they are being paid makes it a business relationship between me and them.

Each employee should give 100% to me as a customer.

IMO there are certain employees in that business that are failing in this basic objective. If your favourite restaurant continually provided poor service or food you'd be inclined to find an alternative.

Unfortunately for all of us but fortunately for SUFC they realise that there is no other industry where customers keep turning up in such numbers with such blind loyalty as the football industry.

At present because the club has employed certain individuals and is 'morphing' into something that I don't recognise and can identify myself with I feel they are taking the piss and leaving me totally pissed off.

Yeah, we're certainly more comfortable with the plucky underdog tag.

Just looked back at the 88/89 results & - plucking crumbs of comfort - we had lost 4 games by this stage (which, admittedly, is less than us so far this season - but is more than 5 of the current top 6 ... - yep, I know, desperately looking for crumbs of comfort!).

Just noticed that, in that Div 3 promotion drive in 88/89, our first loss of the season was away at Gillingham.

... And a few weeks on from where we stand now, we lost at home to Southend.

Well put! Icouldn't put it so well myself, but you explained it better

You all aught to listen to my Citeh supporting neighbour and how hard it is for a fan of 30 years to get a ticket while tourists number in the 1000s at every game.

They aren't fans anymore, they are income streams and he hates it

Well, that's something to look forward to then, if we ever get promoted.
