Back him don't sack him

But pretty much word for word he's saying the same things as 'Cluff' last season after each inconsistent performance - and the fans as highlighted on this very thread are saying "but we are still6th"

I can't be bothered but I'll bet if someone could take the forum back a year the same things were been said and the same arguments been had.

Isn't everyone getting tired of it by now?

The way things are we will all be here this time next year saying the same things.

It's depressing.

Anyone who wants Adkins sacked or to resign knows nothing about football and is probably just an idiot.

He's made and is making mistakes but he's got a proven track record. Give him a chance to sort things out. Not talk about him leaving.

LS26,

Agree that results wise Adkins and Clough so far have been very similar.

HOWEVER Clough has a cv ofdeveloping teams but not getting promotions
Where as Adkins has a fantastic record of success. In league 1.
Also at Southampton he started off very slow but his teams go on greats runs after Xmas.

Based on history there's logic for remaining confident with Adkins whereas with Clough it was more about hope.

The stats don't lie, having a poor game today doesn't alter the fact that Billy Sharp is joint third best striker at present in our league.

Sorry they apparently do Millwall had 10 shots on goal 6 on target and 7 corners against our 6 on goal 1 (one) on target and 3 corners. The opinion of quite a few fans is we might concede two but with our prolific attack we will score three. Against the more well organised and physically stronger that aint going to happen at present IMO

I say again, basing your opinion on one game yet ignoring season long stats is somewhat foolish.

Oh well that's cheered me up.

Think you are missing my point pal, and don't want to spend time arguing with fellow Blades, do enough of that with the S6 fans in my local boozer (all good lads, to be fair).

We had a bad game today, but are 6th in the table, the table doesn't lie.

Sharp didn't score today, neither did Adams, but they are still in the list of top srikers, Sharp being joint third, the table doesn't lie.

Over the course of the season so far, Adams and Sharp have been prolific enough to get into the top 6 of our leagues top strikers.

You could say that the stats flatter the team, or the players, or we have been lucky, or anything like that, all valid opinions and points of view, but won't change the fact that the stats and tables don't lie.

So you open a thread debating a particular subject.

You give your views, I give mine. The opinions differ, then I'm a stupid fucking WUM.

Mind-blowing. If you wasn't prepared to be disagreed with why did you begin the debate?

Fool.

He's got a point though.

The fact that you're a stupid fucking WUM is unrelated to this particular thread.

Adkins will be one of our greatest ever managers if backed by the board. I'm more concerned he will resign for not receiving the financial backing promise to him.

Lets agree to differ on prolific shall we KE was prolific. Can we count on our attackers to win games if we fall behind I am not convinced.

Yes let's ignore all the relevant evidence available to us including our goals for column and the top scorers in the league and agree to disagree.

I actually thought the idea was to win games and accumulate enough points to get out of this league we have lost 5 and drawn 3 so we are a bit behind at minute. Still there is plenty of games left.

We have to stick with him because we won't get anyone better.

The only way I can see us getting promoted however is to just throw some money at it like them lot from across the city. Their owner certainly isn't messing about. There's been talk of waiting until we get promoted before the money really kicks in, but if we never get there in the first place then what's the point? FFP essentially doesn't apply in this league so that's not an excuse.

The original point you made was that our attacking line up was un prolific.

This was proved completely wrong.

The above is a completely new and seperate point.

This is going round in circles, we have lost 5 drawn three if our forwards were as prolific as you think they would have turned some of those results into wins or draws they didn't.

Hmmm, if we score 5 but concede 6, do you think the issue is our inability to score 7 or our habit of conceding 5?

I don't think our defence or our attack are good enough to win the amount of games we need to win automatic.

Sammon Sharp ,Woolford ,Edgar and Hammond will all be on championship wages ,probably the highest paid at the club ,only Sharp looks worth it at the moment.

I feel that both Woolford and Sammon were brought in as squad players, rather than with a view to being in the starting XI and I'm certain Adkins thought he was going to get at least 2 more signings in by deadline day that didn't materialise. We could blame Adkins for that, but given our deadline day form of recent years I think we all know it's the board to blame.

With regards the loan signings, Edgar started well, had a bad patch and the got injured and Dean Hammond has barely played any competitive football this season so let's give him a few weeksto get up to speed before we pass judgement.

I'd say as long as we get into the play-offs Adkins position is safe.

But if we're top 2 scorers in the league yet top 3 in goals conceded, where do you think the issue may lie?

Unless we strengthen the attack with loan signings I'm willing to place a bet with you that we won't be in the top 5 top scorers in league one by the end of 2015. Just £10 or £20 if you fancy it?

Don't like to see rumours of discontent regarding our manager of 4 months.

He's had to take over Nigel Clough's average squad (baring a couple of gems) and has largely been unable to build his own squad so far.

He's only been able to sign a couple permanently ( one of whom is our top scorer) and had had to wait 4 months to be able to get much needed central defensive cover in.

It's not like he plays the kind of utterly negative durge that Clough served up week in week out with his backwards and negative mindset.

We need to hold our nerve and stick by this one. He's PROVEN that he's got the measure of this league.

Stand by him fellow Blades, the problems we have as a club stem from those higher up in the club and certainly aren't the fault of the manager.

Back him, don't let the incompetent fools that run the club feel they need to sack him.

Why didn't this go in the Clough against Adkins thread, why does it need its own thread?

It would be crazy if we got rid of Adkins
He's got scunny out of this league twice and also Southampton
Unfortunately he's got to run with current players under contract
That's what we've got to contend with I'm afraid

1) on paper Adkins seems a better appointment than Clough
2) giving Clough more time might have been a better option than Adkins because it's essentially his squad.
3) Clough knew full well defence was a problem.

I suspect the end of season discussion with Clough was along the lines of wanting to see more expansive enjoyable footie and Clough saying no, we need to shore up the defence and keep some clean sheets.

Be difficult for the board then to tell Adkins to do that if during the interviews he was lead to believe we wanted to see better attacking football and the signings seem to bear this out.

Who'd run a football club eh?

Why do you care?

Because it's annoying trawling through multi threads on the same subject. Puzzles me why so many people want to start a thread because they have a contribution to make instead of just joining in the debate since your asking.

I get equally confused as to why people get so upset at the threads of others.

If I don't like the look of a thread title, I usually just ignore it.

Only Sharp is a permanent signing who will be Championship wages, Woolford won't be.

I suspect Coutts and Bladey Blade himself Brayford will be on higher Championship wages and both of them were permanent signings by Clough and did the square root of fuck all in the run in last season.
