What a Fantastic result

First half we were poor but changed it up second half even before they were down to ten.

Done missed an easy chance. Billy missed a sitter. Scoogs hit the post. I think. Someone did - it was down the other end. Baxter had a free right foot shot.from the edge of the box and a harder left foot one. Billy put Che through but he was off balance and couldn't stay on his feet.

There were times when we could've moved the ball quicker at the back but generally we played textbook football when they went down to ten.

Sammon had a nightmare and at times it was like we were down to ten.

Incredibly frustrating.
Agree completely. The second half performance was good, let down by some poor finishing but that's football. You can have 20 chances more than your opponent, play better football, control the game yet lose.

I felt like it went away from us once we moved to 4-4-2/4-2-4. We were great second half playing 4-3-3 and should've taken the lead. However, Sammon was totally ineffective on the left and the midfield couldn't get a hold on the game after we changed formation when JCR came on. I would've swapped Adams and Sammon if we were to change formation as we did.

.

We'll win fuck all playing Baxter and Scoogal in midfield together.

Exactly this. For me sorting out central midfield is the priority for Adkins. All three today (Baxter,Basham and Scoogall) were awful centre midfield and it was left to Collins in the 2nd half to set the example by carrying the ball forward to try and draw them out.

Not many positives today. McGahey was OK as was Collins, the two full backs were disappointing and Adams needs to learn how to control a first time and stop dramatically falling down every time a defender tackles him.

Sammon on the left wing had a shocker and Sharp battled hard and held the ball up well( but should have scored)

Done didn't look match fit but was dangerous on the break.

Overall it was poor and a lot of that after the sendin off was down to the manager's bemusing substutions

No point in jeering the players if they're not good enough, that is the fault of the manager/previous managers/board for them being at the club. The only time players deserve stick is a lack of effort.

And what about the sitters Scougall, Done, Adams,Collins and Basham missed? Why not say 'well done' to them ?

Mainly because they've not been missing them every single game. And Sharp's chance was the easiest.

no Im a fan but weve gne away and not lost
your expectation level may be set 25 to 75% too high
you cant win them all

We have drawn 5 of the previous 6 fixtures with Oldham - we have drawn this one against 10 men (in a side that is flirting with relegation form - no win for 12 matches). We are getting worse. I wish I could see much positive in today's result. Btw - This guy would like to speak to you - he desperately needs a Grade A spin doctor (if SUFC can spare you) :p

Scoog's was by far the easiest,Adams was also a simple chance as was Done's ....i take it you don't like our leading goalscorer

I can go and live with that if the previous results were encouraging and todays situation was a exception to the rule .

If its not the goalkeeper , its the back four or midfield , today the attack. What we take from this , is there is something collectively missing .

If we do not have finances to improve the first team , and get someone in to gel , give us stability , consistancy , Adkins or someone say so. If we have not got the funds - someone just say so.

If Adkins has been told he has the funds , but someone has changed the goal posts , we may have more turmoil coming over the hill from a management / board level. He is toeing the political line at the moment because he is a gentleman and professional.

We are not far from being a good side , but in a result driven busines , there is no differance between being a yard off or a mile off .

I am more concerned of Adkins getting pissed off and calling it a day , as i am getting this Hammond bloke in or his equal signed.

previous results in different seasons have got nothing to do with today's poor showing. However, don't forget that,no matter how poor we played,we had enough chances to win 2 games in the 2nd half

Oh no, I like him and maintain he'll do the business for us this season. But so far the vital misses outweigh the important goals.

Do we know the goalposts have moved? Do we know we don't have the funds? No, they are baseless assumptions. There are many factors going into players coming in. Let's face it, if we didn't have the funds Adkins wouldn't have taken the job and even if the board had lied about the money available he wouldn't have even bothered to make enquiries about Burn or Hammond! Burn wouldn't come due to Fulham needing more CBs and I think Leicester want someone to cover more of Hammond's wages than we have offered.

Booing at the end when the players came over was pathetic - we didn't draw because of a lack of effort, it was a lack of ability.
This is where I have to disagree. I can accept a lack of ability. After all we have a squad full of mostly league one standard players but there was a definite lack of effort today and that is totally unexceptable to blades fans. The booing was totally justified in my opinion. When supporters pay good money and travel in large numbers and back the team largely for 90 mins and see minimal effort in return what do you expect? Think a fair few would agree with me. Judging by the comments leaving the ground. Quite simply they were first to a hell of a lot more balls than us. They wanted it more and worked harder. That's got nowt to do with ability. Too many of our players were just lording it around the pitch as if they had been on the piss last night. It was totally unacceptable.

I thought that the effort was there - several wasted chances etc.

Again I dint think we created that much. Billy, Done and Scougs both should in the second half but did we create much else? Che had an effort early second half but Mattys goal was the only effort we had first half save for when the linesman (wrongly) flagged Billy offside when he hit the post. For a team playing against 10 men who were 5 without a win, in the relegation zone and having genuine promotion aspirations they need to ask themselves just how much they want it. Too many to me look like they are just going through the motions. They're is a real lack of urgency and fight amongst them

Agree with you re: first half - hardly anything created - think we also agree that things need to change!

They certainly do mate...... It's extremely frustrating especially knowing this is the poorest league one since we have been here!

I was really hoping that we would do a Bristol City this year but we are looking like the most inconsistent team in the inconsistent league. Bloody frustrating being a Blade at this moment in time!!

Personally that's better than i expected. Cracking result, considering how bad we are at the back

It wasn't the back Swizzo, as others will tell you, McGahey had a decent game, probably his best in a Blades short, but midfield was pretty much non existent, so Oldham knew exactly what we were going to do every time (down the wings) and were ready for us. Even when we wrong footed their keeper, we missed a virtually open net (twice I think).
