The End of Season Awards came out very well so it's time to stick your necks on the line for our season preview...

How do you feel going into the season?

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

A couple of sentences from a few of you to answer each question would be very much appreciated, ta muchly :)

And if any of the budding writers or comedic wits would like to create a longer pre-season review, drop me an email ([email protected]) by Friday teatime and we'll include it on the site :)

1. Worryingly confident! Last time I was this confident was in 2003...:(

2. James Beattie. Premiership class that we should've had last season

3. Got to be Sharp. He'll score in every game!!

4. Gonna go for Beattie. Giving 110% for his new club, his enthusiasm gets the better of him and he leaves his opponent in Row G

5. West Brom, Wolves and Watford. All gonna be contenders for the top 2 spots I reckon. The derby games will be the most enjoyable, but they'll be too easy to make them "key" fixtures

6. Robbo's made all the right moves so far for me. If he gets us playing well we've enough quality to win at a canter. Nothing but 1st!!

1. Very very confident, havn't been this confident about a season before.

2. Sharp - mainly because he's come back to the lane and he has something to prove! Hope he does it.

Beattie - Premiership class forward, can't wait to see him in action.

Webber - the reason for this is that the game I saw him in he looked like a completely different player and got about the pitch alot more! Hope he can perform.

3. Got a feeling it will be Sharp, first game back at SUFC.

4. Hendrie or Beattie. Everyone see's morgan as the one to watch for his aggression but I don't think he's as bad as people make out.

5. Against all the ones pushing for promotion.

6. Got to be 1st! We never do things the easy way but im that confident I can't see anything less.

1. Quietly confident. I can't think of any team better than us in the CCC, but I'm too old and experienced to count my chickens just yet.

2. Billy Sharp. I can't wait to see a dyed-in-the-wool Blade score for us in front of the Kop. He's young, wants to prove himself and is playing for the club of his dreams; I think this will be his dream season.

3. Probably Billy Sharp again, and I'd say from a rebound - he seems like quite the poacher!

4. Keef! he's got a temper when he's wound up, and other teams know this. I know that if he gets sent off I should be disappointed, but I just can't knock his passion!

5. All the Ws - West Brom, Wolves, Watford, Wednesday and... erm... Wcharlton. If we can beat the other teams tipped for promotion and keep picking up the points against the lower teams, we'll be fine.

6. Although it's a hard league, I'd be surprised to see us finish outside the top 2, and devastated to see us finish outside the top 6. This is our season, and once we get back into the Prem, we'll make sure we stay there this time!

Billy Sharp he will be busting a gut to get his first competitive goal for the club

Geary for me i feel he'll get into one of these games he gets wound up and goes flying into a tackle straight red

Top 2.

Cheers lads, +rep all round and keep the responses coming :)

I can see the reaction from the Colchester fans will be interesting :D

How do you feel going into the season?

Always feel confident but at my age, and after so many let down, I should know better I suppose. The club itself is in a better shape than ever in my lifetime though.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Beattie......hope he doesn't let us down.

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Sharp......has to be for the return stories and to give the Warnock bashers some ammo.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Keef......he wants to be as hard as Morgs :)

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

All of them!

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

Where we deserve to!

How do you feel going into the season?
I feel fairly confident going into the season but am wary of the way relegated clubs have underperformed.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?
Me when i finally get it!! and on the pitch would be Beattie, big name signing, says he has something to prove.

Who will be the first Blade to score?
Morgan, thunderous header!

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Bryan Robson, overcelebrating after going 2-0 up against WBA

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?
All of them, gotta win em no matter who you're playing

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?
2nd!

How do you feel going into the season?

I'm very confident that we will do well. Robbo has brought in some great players and appears to be playing the right way. I'm very excited at the prospect of this season.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

James Beattie. I think this will be the best signing in the division this year. Bags of experience, and still has plenty of time left. Also has alot to prove to kick-start his career so could be influential in our promotion bid.

Who will be the first Blade to score?

I think Billy Sharp. He's a poacher and if him and Beattie play up front he will get plenty of chances I bet.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Got to say Chris Morgan really haven't you? Top defender but loses his head on occassion so I think it will be him.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

I think Colchester is a key game, hopefully we can go and show them we mean business. Also games at such as Wolves, West Brom, Charlton etc. will be important, and we need to make sure we are strong at home.

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

I'd be surprised if we didn't finish in the top 6, and I personaly can't see any reason we can't win the league with the players we have at our disposal. But if we are top 6 at the end of the season I'll be happy.

How do you feel going into the season?
Looking foward to the new era under robbo and the players that he's brought in are sure to help us to promotion

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season? All the new signings, Sharp and beattie Mostly

Who will be the first Blade to score?
Billy Sharp

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Chris Morgan, There's one reason the guy gives it his all and loses it on ocassions.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?
All the games are key fixtures in hope of us getting promotion

Where in the league table will the Blades finish
Top six anything below that i wont accept

How do you feel going into the season?

Pretty confident. Was abit unsure at first with bringing in robbo, but i think he has justified his place as the manager with the signings he has brought in. Looking back on the team we got promoted with, this seems alot better, and with a more attacking manager, i think we have a great chance of going up. On paper we have one of the best, if not the best strike force outside the prem.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Most looking forward to seeing? Rob Hulse. Cant wait for his return. just hope he puts himself out and about like he usually does as some players, that have broken bones tend not to put themselfs about, not wanting for the same thing to happen. Just hope hes the same player as before the injury.

Also looking forward to seeing sharp as is everyone else. too see what all the hype is about!

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Im tempted to say sharp as he will be wanting to get his account open with us. but i think it will be a midfielder to score first. Im thinking A.Quinn will get the first goal if he starts, if not then it will have to be stead if he plays, if not sharp! one of them 3!

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

To be honest, i think it will be Kenny. Can see him coming out for a ball and sherringham chucking himself down and then complaining to the ref about it and getting him sent off.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

Has to be the colchester game. Big game for us. go out show the division what we have and what we are going to do. A good start is the key for moral and to bring more supporters back. As everyone else says the teams around us will be key games to beat the other promotion contenders. But i agree with steve too, they are all important games. need to win them all to get the points!

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

Cant see us wining the league. But on the other hand cant see many other teams on paper that can better us. So ill stick with us finishing in 2nd.

How do I feel going into the season.
Great never felt the buzz like this before a start of season, in fact over confident.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?
Got to be Beattie and Sharpy, both class acts in thier own right.

Who will be the first Blade to score?
It will be Billy Sharpe he is a real predator, we have not had a player like him since the Ledgend himself Keith Edwards.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Paddy, rush of blood or a fooking dive from Teddy.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?
Wednesday, Barnsley take points from the locals and your in business. Then it's got to be Watford, Wolves and Charlton.

Where in the league table will the Blades finish.
Top two doesn't matter which, would be nice to have it all dune and dusted by Christmas.

How do you feel going into the season?

Quietly confident, which is most unusual for a cynical old git like me!

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Hendrie or the quality midfield player we've been promised who is yet to sign

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Got to be Billy, but I have a sneak for Lee Hendrie

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Robbo! Will sit in the dugout and catch whatever Warnock had and go apeshit at the ref over nothing!

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

The last 6

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

Top 2 I hope!!

How do you feel going into the season?

Optimistic. Strange when you consider the team we all support.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Beattie.

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Stead, everyone thinks Sharp or Beattie but Stead is doing very well.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Kilgallon, probably for being the last man, I can see it happening.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

West Brom, Watford and Charlton.

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

2nd. I'm not that optimistic! :)

How do you feel going into the season?
The most worried ever. The dread of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory fills me once again. Being a Blade, I'm a born pessimist, so all this confidence lark worries me 10 times as much as usual.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?
Lee Hendrie. Not the most obvious I suppose, and we all know he's an utter nobhead off the park, but I think he might give the midfield that little bit extra it so badly needs.

Who will be the first Blade to score?
Michael Tonge. A blistering free kick a la Pigs away.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Paddy. As good a bet as any.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?
All of them. If we're going to go for the top 2 places from the outset, then every match is as important as every other one. We must be relentless from the start.

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?
3rd or 7th, by a goal, knowing our luck.

That's what I reckon.

butchaboy's season preview can be found HERE

Cheers again to all the above :)

I feel very optimistic. There are a few side out there that we are going to deliver a thorough tonking to, and I hope that Tedward's lot are the first. Hopefully Billy will bag the first goal, as I think he will be the player to watch this season, but I can see Hendrie being a key player.
I think possibly the first straight red could be Alan Quinn if and when he gets the red mist, but if the refs are a bit keen then possibly Morgs or Bromby from two yellows.
The key fixtures will be Wendy for the bragging rights, they will be very lucky if we don't stuff them twice, but our competitors would have to be Wolves, Southampton, West Brom, Charlton and possibly one other, but that's about it.
As far as our final position, we have to be looking at finishing first, or settling for second. Anything else is not good enough, and I don't want the nail-biter that is the play-offs.

How do you feel going into the season?

Very confident, some seasons (especially 2004/2005) I've been overconfident but there are plenty of reasons to be this season, again like in 2005/2006 when we got promoted we have a very strong squad.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?

Dave Carney, it's been a while since we've had an Aussie in our squad and I still miss Shaun Murphy.

Who will be the first Blade to score?

Billy Sharp, it's inevitable...

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)

Stephen Quinn, he's still a young lad and it won't be before his first sending off he learns how to curb his temper, and the Championship is a more physical test than the Premiership.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

All of them are key fixtures, there are no easy games in this league even if it's top v bottom.

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

1st. The Championship was a tough league last year, but maybe we will prove too tough for it this year? If we go well enough we might be able to even break Reading's records from when they went up.

How do you feel going into the season?
Confident

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?
Sharpy and Beattie

Who will be the first Blade to score?
Sharp- in front of the Kop

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Morgan because its morgan

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?
Wolves west Brom Charlton (All Away)

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

wolves, wba, charlton and the pigs

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?

1st, where else????

this is probably a little late but still

How do you feel going into the season? - Confidence such as this has never been seen before

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season? - I cant wait to see SHARP in the red and white, i think he will have an outstanding season

Who will be the first Blade to score? - SHARP or BEATTIE depends on the squad, i for one cant predict who will be in the line-up for the first match

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?) - Probably Morgan, simply due to his no nonsense approach to defending HIS eighteen yard box

Which do you think will be the key fixtures? - got to be watford and charlton for two, but wolves seem to be hot on everyones list and WBA too

Where in the league table will the Blades finish? - Heart says 1st but haid will be happy with top 6. Unfortunatley as a club we always seem to have a nack of fucking easy things up and making life incredibly difficult for ourselves. So despite haveing one of if not the strongest teams for many years im not certain its going to be as plain sailing as we might think it will

Just read the report, absolutely blinding report. Very very well wrote

How do you feel going into the season?
Very confident actually, just a few little worries here and there.

Which player are you most looking forward to seeing in a Blades' shirt this season?
That will have to be Billy Sharp:)

Who will be the first Blade to score?
Probably someone random like KEEEF.

Who will be the first Blade to be sent off? (and why?)
Not a clue.

Which do you think will be the key fixtures?

All Of Them!

Where in the league table will the Blades finish?
1st or Second i reckon. Whatever position it is, we wont do it the easy way, it will be done the united way (awkward)

Sent you an email with some writings, Linz :D
