We've seen Basham play at centre half and centre mid for last season and this season where would people prefer him to play?

I'm a fan of old fashioned central midfielders who do more that just provide a presence and actually bloody do something while they're at it. Quite why people are so accepting of such a lightweight nesh none entity 'holding down territory' is a mystery, the opposition just go a bit to the left of his territory or a bit to the right of his territory and he just lets them run on by. In a midfield three it's not so bad as there's someone else existing nearby. Basham is better at centre back because there he actually attempts to tackle people.
The correct answer to this question is a backup for both position on the bench with superior centre backs and central midfielders on the pitch.
Don't think so mate I never saw one but I could be mistakenHave we not had this post before a few weeks back??

I've voted CB because I think that is his best position. Over the games he has played, I think he has had a higher percentage of good games at CB rather than CM. However, our midfield needs him now. The rest are too lightweight and offer virtually no protection to the defence. We have OK centre halfs so in the current set up, I think he has to play CM.
So CM then.CB if we brought Hammond in. CM if we don't
Not sure making him captain means that much. The manager has made the lad captain while he is playing in midfield and he has only seen him play in midfield as yet ;that speaks volumes to me, not that I rate him in midfield personally.
His best position for me is centre half but as part of a 3 in midfield he is very very capable. And the lack of options there means he has to stay in midfield for the time being, hopefully Adkins alters the formation to suit.
Good question in the OP. After the Barnsley away game last season when Basham was a colossus in centre mid, I had him nailed on as that position. On this season's performances I'm now wondering if that was a one off. If he's to stay at cm then I think him and Baxter want to swap midfield roles round. This season it seems Baxter sits in midfield, while Basham is trying to be box-to-box - I don't think either role suits them. If I was Atkins I'd be telling Basham sit in midfield, win his headers and tackles and play it simple to Baxter or or the wide players. And Baxter should be more advanced pulling the strings behind the front 1 or 2.
Unless the manager brings in a defensive cm, then Basham has to stay there. If Adkins brings someone in then I'd consider moving him back for the simple reason, on last seasons performances at centre half, he'd probably do a better job than either of the current two.
