Updates From Adkins

Oh so it's because OTHER Clubs are reluctant to let their players leave not that we won't pay the going rate for them,

I thought that might be the reason....that or the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815.

No signings til January. Our club are so predictable its unreal.

So the Murphy sale was just to cover the cost of buying of Sharp I assume and it also helped cover the loan signing of Edgar.

Sit back and put your feets up because I think the club are happy being in this division.

As is quite often the case our board will be creators of their own downfall.

They have brought in a manager who is valued and respected and PROVEN. Most fans will back him over them.

Our board 'the mouth' talk a good game but have very little substance. Or any that has been seen. I hope Adkins exposes them for this.

January is too late, just like after the first game of the season was too late.

We have been playing catch up since the first day of the season.

You can't keep making excuses for them.

I posted a few weeks back... Something is not quite right... What we are told and what actually happens constantly contradict each other.

I have got to feel sorry for NA no doubt promised so much and never expected the board to be so full of shit.

This board are looking to line there own pockets and that is all, they couldn't give a shit about Sheffield united and each year we fall for the same old shit. We want promotion, we will back the manager, we don't need to sell players, bollocks bollocks bollocks.

Could be Adkins trying to be clever so all the venom and pressure is pointed at the Board - which it will be.

Phipps will be suspending his Twitter account shortly when he hears from a section of our support.

It will turn nasty if results don't improve. Anything less than a win versus Rochdale could magnify this.

Anything other than a win in all our games up to January will magnify this.

And maybe with good cause.

He has been told a pack of lies which is similar to his situation at Reading regarding their takeover.

If I was Nigel I would walk now because the board won't be giving him anything in January.

It's a negotiation ploy, if they are playing hard to get pretend we're not interested.

I have total faith in N#2 and the board, they will come, oh yes, they will come.

Ignore those of little faith Nige, us of blind faith are hanging on

Great news on Brayford. A respected player who has a hunger to play for us!
But will he be here in February? If he's happy with Freeman/Harris/Alcock/Wallace as full backs he might sell and use the money to invest in incoming players!

We seem to be as rotten as the pigs pre-Mandy. What's worse is that we know KM will never surrender the club and the ground while he still thinks he can recover some of his losses. We're like Villa with Lerner, can't find a buyer and won't put money in.
The prince will soon cut his losses and just give the club back, once he's realised the chances of making any money out of this venture are remote and owning a club is like owning a pleasure boat; just a constant drain on your money for a few pleasant weekends.
We're fucked for the foreseeable future and part of me hopes we sign HWCBN so I can just fuck the club off.

It has started already clubs sacking managers, one will come for Nigel one day and he will make himself available wouldn't blame him either.

The general consensus seems to be the board are spending about £5m per year of their own money.

What makes you think they are profiting? How are they going about this?

Well I don't think they are profiting, but as they said quite openly they are here to make money at the end of the day I can't quite understand what their strategy is or what they are getting out of being here at the moment, I assumed the plan was get us to the Prem as quickly as possible stabilise us there and then sell us on to new owners at a whacking great profit.

Which is the business plan equivalent of selling your house and buying thousands of lottery tickets.

and of course, there's no better way to line your pockets than to refuse to give the manager the tools to be successful and therefore earn more money, followed by having to sack and pay off the entire management team when they are destined to fail and then begin the entire process again. I know if I was trying to line my own pockets, I'd certainly do that instead of looking to improve on the pitch and earn more prize money.

I dont think anyone at united is up to anything underhand
The budget is big enough to get out of this division but its clearly as big a problem as not having a budget at all
The transfer negotiators dont seem to be able to get to grips with the machinations of the modern football transfer network

When phippsy talks of 3 way party deals on twitter to fans who see inactivity in the transfer market ,it smacks to me of frustration they just dont seem to be able to get deals over the line

Clubs must look at us and the size of the crowds and recent transfer history and think we are taking the piss ,sniffing around their squad players on loan and not wanting to pay their wages

No wonder these deals drag on so long

I don't think anyone is trying to line their pockets but I think they are trying to get promotion on the cheap without any major outlay.

I also wonder how much a split ownership plays a part in our lack of efficiency and ability to get things done.

Would just having one man making the decisions be a lot easier?

Really unhappy with the message but, as I said on Saturday (and lots seemed to agree) at least they've come clean and told us. Our expectations are well and truly managed so, boys and girls, it's business as usual. Lift up your feet and hang on tight cos the road is about to get bumpy for us while the board are on their hover boards.

Unfortunately, the minute the window shut for permanent deals, the options for us became largely awful. There is zero chance of picking up the better talent in Leagues 1 or 2 on loan deals, meaning the only options open to us to add to the squad are substantially limited to:

- those that are so far out of the picture that clubs don't see their departure as being damaging (risk – they're shit. Eg. Lappin, Aidan White)
- those that are recovering from injury and are allowed to leave temporarily to gain fitness (risk – they're unlikely to be allowed to stay long-term, and might also be shit. Eg. O'Grady, and on the shit front McCarthy)
- those that are inexperienced and need experience (risk – they're raw, and are potentially shit. Eg. John Cofie)

This is why not getting those deals over the line before the window shut was such a big problem. There's very little motivation for Leicester to loan Hammond to us tbh – the savings on wages, even if we cover all of them, will be minute in the context of the Premier League's current cash abundance, and while he's not been involved of late situations can change with a few injuries. We could presumably agree a deal to sign him in January in a no-backsies deal, but they're probably confident of being able to sell him then anyway – for them, there's no rush.

So in summary, this is a shit situation. I actually have a fair bit of sympathy on the lack of loan recruitment, because the options available to us are not particularly good. This does however make it doubly maddening that the deals weren't done in the summer, which deservedly has been criticised. We might get the recruitment in and out right in January. But it's going to be a bloody tough journey before then...

Wait till January ..................... fuckin hell nobody saw that one coming ;) what a set of utter wankers we have in the boardroom same owd same owd.

if
If you think we will get big money for
Adams you're living cloud. Cuckoo
land he,s miles away from. being a saleable assett

Small technicalities like that will not stop our "ambitious" Board from selling him to the first "big" Club offering ten bob, a bag if worthers originals and a promise of a friendly match !!

Same old .....

Not signing players we've needed since Pre season until January is bordering on incompetence.

Has to be issues at board level when our defence is as rank as it currently is.

What's the betting we don't strengthen in the required areas then either?

Are all those who said everything would be fine when the loan window opened getting twitchy yet?

We'll be well out of the automatic promotion race by January.

Well played to all involved in this mess.

At the rate we're dropping points, we'll be out of the automatic promotion race long before January same as last year ........

Still, there's always the play-off lottery eh !!

Might be easier but if that one man is KM I'd be concerned. If it was the kid, the hooligan or 'go Blades, go soccer yay' I'd fucking shit myself.

I agree with you, they're not profiteering, that's a red herring.

The Board are simply incompetent on a biblical scale and are clearly taking advice from the wrong people ......

I'm confused. Leicester have said Hammond can go. We want Hammond. How is that clubs not releasing players and anything other than us not wanting to pay very much of his wages?

I'd be very surprised if McCabe is putting any significant money into the football club side of things now. When he said not a penny more, he meant it.

He did write off £35M of debt to allow the Prince to buy half the FC for £1. Whether you like it or not, that was his considerable gesture (although he did tuck the ground and Shirecliffe away into 100% Scarborough owned SU limited).

The Prince put £20M equity into Blades Leisure. For what it's worth I reckon he could easily have £15M of that (purely a guess on my part but 2 years losses of £5M pa, Weir & Clough sackings, bloated Clough squad etc). When he does do his £20M, it's very hard to tell whether there is more to come.

The command chain is Phipps sanctions the money, Adkins selects his targets, Mal Brannigan does the deal.

The problem is the deal doesn't get completed. Not enough money being offered ? Championship clubs unwilling to release ?

Who knows but I don't think it's complicated by the chain of command.
