this report on murphy mirrors exactly your report on his replacements now
thats a comparison
Are you having a bad day - chill?we are sitting on the money as Fulham wouldnt sell us Burn
try and keep up
Are you having a bad day - chill?
........"when ever I'm feeling low, I whistle a happy tune................................................."
Erm - we didn't sell Quinn![]()
Correction we let him go for nothing ...
While that is scandalously low, I suspect it was more to get him off the wage bill than to try and get a good fee for him. Get promotion that season and we'd have been fine, the Club couldn't have sustained it with a second year of Lg 1 income. The "undisclosed" fee that we sold Quinn to Hull for was rumoured at the time to be around £300K.
Which seemed a bit on the low side for our best player.
It later turned out to be £2000 per game capped at 50 appearances (I.e. £100K max).
I wonder how many of our other "undisclosed" fees received have been far less than we were led to believe?
As Steve Bruce said:- “For me he was Sheffield United’s best player for two or three years and that’s saying something because they’re a bigclub.
To get Sheffield United’s best player for the money we did was a great piece of business.”.
Yes. Yes, it was. No wonder he came back for our best player again two years later.

Brayford next to go then? Don't see anyone wanting what remains. Bad decision making from the board is unfortunately their most consistent attribute.
getting 1.5 m for him was way too good to turn down
Halfway in season two..out goes Blackman.Start of season two.. Sold Quinn, didn't go up
Start of season three.. Sold Macdonald, didn't go up
Start of season four... Sold Maguire, didn't go up.
Start of Season five... Sold Murphy. ...... ( fill in the blanks )
any player who asks to go should never be mournedInteresting, because that's precisely what we did if you believe Phippsy. We'd turned down previous bids from Brighton of similar value, and would have turned down the last one had Murphy apparently not handed in the transfer request.
Look at the squad now, chock full of average division three players. Clough can only have thought some of this dross "genuinely improved the team."Step 1: Sell best player.
Step 2: Promise money for re-investment (Only players that will genuinely improve the team though).
Step 3: Find that no other teams want to sell their best players.
Step 4: Sell best player...
so he was good after 1 year , who offered 1,5 million for him last year ... no one
again how many of those on your list had their top scorer jailed 3 games before the end of the season
we are still in league because of ched evans sticking his dick in to something he shouldnt have ,,, simples
and dont say the board should have got cover , his team mates were left hollow by the judges decision and stopped playing , trauma its called
“so he was good after 1 year , who offered 1,5 million for him last year ... no one”
He started playing well after approximately 1 year. Teams aren’t going to come in for him as soon as he has a good game or 2, he has to sustain it for a while to be considered he is worth paying £1.5 million for. Although I note you are now using the willingness of other teams to part with £1.5 mil as a barometer of what he offers when it suits your argument but don’t care what Hughton thinks when it disproves it.
“we are still in league because of ched evans sticking his dick in to something he shouldnt have ,,, simples”
Not true at all. You’ve completely sidestepped the probability that Evans would have been sold if not for the Trial hanging over him. Even if we did accept the first failure as being down to Evans though, that offers absolutely no excuse for the last three failed attempts.
“New all that list of players weve sold before , we had to sell to reduce the wages bill after losing prem status as do most clubs “
Doesn’t matter, you were quite clear in saying that if a team failed to get promotion then a player who had been part of that failing team all season wouldn’t be missed. We’re not talking about whether they needed to be sold- you said they wouldn’t be missed. That’s the rationale behind saying we now don’t miss Murphy. It was stated there in black and white. So I would say reality is not at all in my way.
“transfer fees have gone up twenty times not gate prices theyve just trebled
man utd spent 2m on hughes in 93 man utd offered 48 m for their latest acquisition”
Well by that reasoning, we paid £700,000.00 for Brian Deane (today’s money) and sold him for £60million whilst getting £13.5mil for Agana who I don’t think ever played in the top flight again. Similar for Kelly. Didn’t we get about half a mil for Bradders as well? That would be £10million in today’s money then. Still pretty good going if you ask me to recover £97 million on 4 players when a squad of 17 was assembled for £20million.
“they include every single players thats played for us 1962 to 74 and 1988 to 2004 and 2002 to 2007
hes never played above league one till now , so hes done nothing“
OK so now on top of the previous claims, the following players are all better than Jamie Murphy:-
Ian Hamilton, John Cullen, Jonathan Hunt, Iffy Onoura, Laurens Ten Heuvel, Axel Smeets, Nicolas Weber, Paul Thirlwell, Lee Baxter, Earl Barrett, Gus Uhlenbeek, Ashley Ward, Barry Hayles, Steve Lovell, Michael Twiss, Alex Notman, Marcel Cas, Dries Boussatta, Tommy Johnstone, Neil Collins, Darren Bullock, Alan Fettis, Jean-Phillipe Javary, Michael Boulding, Adam Burley, Mark Ward, Jordan Robertson, Tyrone Thompson, John Reid, Phil Starbuck, Mark Beard, Mark Foran, Mark Blount, Paul Holland, Des Hamilton etc. God Murphy must be fucking shit. Why bother trying to get in the Scottish National squad if he’s worse than all those. I’m amazed he’s making a living out of the game.
“selling deane ffjortoft horrendous”- Nope- You’ve made it perfectly clear that Fjortoft couldn’t be missed because he failed to get us promoted the season before.
“are you implying Murphy is a God”- Nope nobody said anything even resembling the implication of that. People are just correctly pointing out that Murphy is/was a good/very good player by League 1 standards where as Doyle was a so-so player at the same level. You’re just making things up again.
so talking about a player on Brightons books is relevant because ????????????????????????????????????????????????????
hes no longer a sufc player
hes as relevant to us as Micheal Doyle, who probably in his times had as many a good game
how copme you arent bemoaning his loss
every regular first team player, now who looks silly
You. Very much so.
You keep making sweeping incorrect statements. When challenged on how ridiculous they are, you change the statement and accuse others of being silly. To be honest, Hamilton, Hunt, Ward etc played quite a few games for us. Are they all better than Murphy?

With respect though he single handedly beat Swindon as a sub for Higdon, around February.selling our best players is what I take issue with
he did fine 12 goals , though is mediocre
had he scored 18 to 24 youd have a point
he matches chris porter in goal scoring
and as Ive put was expecting far more from him in 2 games v Swindon games when mediocre players become good , sorry but he went missing
and Swindons forwards showed him up to be average
if hed done it another 20 times wed be in the championshipWith respect though he single handedly beat Swindon as a sub for Higdon, around February.

On the basis of literally no evidence the deduction is the club is crap.
And Steve Bruce tells everyone how great he is at striking a bargain so it must be true that the club is crap.
Erm - in terms of evidence of previous transfer dealings, failed dealings, long contracts for crocked players, paying more for average than others do, that is blatantly true - pretty useless it appears
In managing to get out of this league - erm, yes, blatantly so - 5 years and counting
In terms of football on the pitch - erm, yes, otherwise we wouldn't be in this league.
In terms of Sheffield United, the club we all support - erm, no 'cos they are the best fecking club on the planet 'cos their our crap.
See the dichotomy?
Fee: undisclosed. Deduction: bad business.
Berahino obviously has his eyes fixed on a major pay rise, and you can bet that Spurs have let Berahino's agent know what awaits him if he moves to Tottenham, but credit WBA with taking a position that says it's possible to adopt a stance that favours the club.
