Three years - through to the end of 2017-18, with option of an extra year.

Hardly guarantees a long-term stay as we saw with Murphy, but puts us in a much better bargaining position should a big club come in for him.

Let's hope that there's a big, chunky release clause in there. And by big and chunky I mean more than £1.75m

So it's a two year extension with the option of an extra year for the club, sounds sensible for all parties.
If he continues as some of our supporters think then there would be a new contract offered next season anyway, if not then we're not tied in either.
Well done the board.

Good news. Obviously, if he's any good we'll probably end up selling him. That's how it works, unless we manage back to back promotions, in which case we may be able to hang onto him
General point- before Bosman, if a club offered a player a contract equal to what they were on, they had to accept it. They could only move to another club if the club that owned them allowed them to.
The difference between Division 1 wages and Division 2 wages wasn't massive (if you don't include the very top players) so players found it much harder to move and had less incentive to do so.
That's the main reason players in the old days were 'loyal'.

Nice one che. im sure Adkins is reminding him of what some of the Southampton players have gone on to do since he took charge of them in lg1. head down, work hard, stay grounded and the premiership will come (hopefully with us)

Just in time for the end of the transfer window.

Only joking.

Adkins has good words on his attitude and he needs to continue to play with freedom going forwards.

Good luck, I hope he becomes the success we all want him to be.

A good move and fair play to both the club and player. Let's face it though......a contract these days is only a guarantee a club cant be shafted by the player or another club as easily - it doesnt imply loyalty or longevity !!!! I really hope Che keeps learning and developing at United. He could be special....very special.

fantastic news about che adams for this season. hope im wrong but i think this is more to stop him going on a free next summer as i cant see him staying a 3rd season in league 1 as he will only get better & will be playing at a higher level just a question whether that with us

although on saturday shows he has things to learn because he should have been more selfish around 50th (ish) min just before salmon sitter missed because if he had been more selfish instead of passing to billy i think we wouldve been 1-0 up

Che has signed a new contract look on Sheffieldutube on YouTube

Not daft that lad . Learn his trade and if he carries on at the pace he is going , in 2 or 3 seasons , he will be a £8m player.

City or Chelsea class IMO , but better off staying at the lane , for a couple of more seasons.

Hats off to the manager , board, agent , parents , and the lad himself . Common sense and football . for once go hand in hand.

UTB

I suspect pointing out the failing careers of others who jumped ship for a quick buck may have had something to do with it.

At least that's how I'd have gone about it if I were Adkins.

Well done, everybody involved. I doubt any of us are unhappy with that.

Che has the strength and pace to play in the premier league, I think even at this early stage there's now doubt about that.

He shows promise with his ability and finishing, by no means is the fished article, but you can't help but feel he could go all the way, due to him looking capable physically.

Let's hope his attitude is good and so is his work rate, because if it is the sky really is the limit for him.

If he irons out the creases in his game, the lad will play for England. I hope his first call up is on the back of successive Blades promotions :D

James Shields a week ago saying that one of the reasons Che came here in the first place was the chance for first team football.

Sometimes it's in the agent's interest to get the player a big money bench-warming deal. Sounds like whoever is advising Adams, and Adams himself, is focusing more on the football and less on the money.

Adkins wont sell him he doesn't sell good young talent
