2-2.5 million is a great price for him. Won't be too bothered as long as we have somebody lined up to replace him.

Prepare to be really surprised
"Sky sources" usually means it's happeningFrom Twitter...
@SkyBetChampo: Brighton are poised to complete the signing of Jamie Murphy from Sheffield United, according to Sky Sources.
Could be usual Twitter BS
I have faith in Adkins when he says that any good manager "doesn't make a habit of selling the better players", I honestly think that Adkins rates him highly and will do everything that he possibly can to keep him at the club.
How do you know we don't need the money? We vastly overspent last season and we may have sod all left for Adkins ( I'm not saying we should sell him by the way)I really didn't see this one coming. Adkins doesn't wanna sell him, we don't need the money, Murphy seems to love the club and is settled here with a young family.
Really surprised if this comes together, although we must be getting a decent fee for him which HAS to be reinvested in the squad.

Could be total crap......
Imo, Murphy lost his form around two months from the back end of last season, with some saying he's tired (awww)
We can only move on players if other clubs are prepared to have them, pay any transfer fee and the wages. I suspect (just an opinion)that we went vastly over our budget last season and somehow need to re-coup some of the money backJust my opinion, if we were struggling financially then I would have thought our first actions this summer would have been to trim down the size of the squad, but Adkins seems really relaxed about that situation.

Love Murphy when he is on song ...can do the unexpected....he does disappear in games though and at Gilligham he not only disappeared (but still had our best chance ) but was powder-puff..easily knocked off the ball......don't think we should sell but £2m....hmmmm...
You do know that this is not an official account don't you ?From Twitter...

apart from the account being quoted is nothing to do with Sky"Sky sources" usually means it's happening![]()
I did a post on the "John Brayford" thread yesterday and identified Murphy as was one of only 4 players I deemed good/reliable enough for the promotion push. If we're losing him, one of only two or three attacking threats we have, then we can forget it.
I'm sorry, but Adkins said he didn't want to sell him. He's contracted to the club long term, a contract which he signed only a few months ago, so he can't be that unhappy. Maybe he's had his head turned a bit, but for once we needed the board to hold firm. If we're selling him it yet again shows no long term thinking. It's a really poor move by the club, particularly after the weekends result. Another slap in the face. When are we going to learn from our mistakes? The new board have just picked up where the last one left off. 1 week into the new season and I'm losing all interest.
I agree with this. I really don't think he is worth £2m. The main issue is that we almost certainly won't reinvest the money in the team. If we sold him and brought in 3 or 4 good players with the money then I could see the logic. What I imagine will happen though is that we will sell him and get a couple of average loan signings in
You do have to question whether the board actually want to go up. Is it in some way cheaper and easier to stay in this league? I don't know but I know selling your best player every season is a strange way to go about trying to gain promotion

Totally agree

and some of it possibly going to Motherwell? You just know the 2m will be spreadover 10 years, be dependant on Brighton wining the Premier League, Scotland winning the World Cup and Murphy scoring 30 goals a season for the next 5 years.
Expect less than a million up front. Always the same.
