If you do, put yourself forward, your club needs you!
If I was the opposition, I would be shooting from all angles and positions....I'd even tell my goalie to have a go from goal kicks.
If no one comes forward, I will ask the club to stick one of the burger sellers in!
Oh and I am shitting bricks about the result Saturday......Nige does not need to be positive....he will need devine intervention at this rate!

After last night, perhaps we should try shooting more often, inc. Howard

Someone would have to take my kicks for me.

I nominate @thelane to go in goal on Saturday and we can a throw abuse at him the moment he makes one mistake

I do. Will the club pay my flight over for the games?

What's going on here?

I was at the game last night and thought Howard played well enough. Indeed he worked very hard at communicating with his defence and he distributed the ball well too. Flapped at one corner but it was beyond the penalty spot. In any case I don't mind the keeper missing one or two as long as he goes out to compete for the ball. One ball hit the post from a free kick but I'm sure it got a deflection.

Was not at the game so can't comment on how Howard played, but the result shows we didn't concede I'm happy if he plays as he did last night and let's less in than the other team:)

If I may stick my neck out too.

I've studied the four goals at Gillingham and can't blame the keeper for any bar the first and I reckon he was left unprotected for that one.

Why didn't we have a player defending the keeper from the Gills scorer for the first. OK Long should have muscled his way past or through him, or feigned a foul, but basics are a "guard" of the keeper by a player pushing him away.

Goals 2 and 3 were the defenders' responsibility, simple.

Goal 4 - a "worldie"? can't tell from the angle of the camera.

I didn't go to the game so I can't speak for the rest of the game but I wouldn't blame Long 100% for any of those 4 goals.

How people like to slag players off. This thread is a poor one and exactly what the manager does not need - from "within" as well. It's too easy to be smart-arsed I say.

I used to take my turn in goal at 5 aside but broke my wrist when I went in goal in April had pot on for four weeks Its still not right so no going in goal from now on the only downside is that Ive got to run around for an hour without a breather for someone that is nearer 60 than 50 Im not doing too bad

On the plus side I am very tall, probably the stamina for roaming around 18 yards and I have a pair of Matt Duke's gloves (given to my awe struck son some years ago).
On the down side: the fist diving save will probably land me on the floor for the rest of the game and, as my kids will tell you, I can't command my own box. Not that I will be telling Collins to tidy his bedroom, or, indeed, telling Brayford to sort out his fecking beard clippings.

You will do blade I am..........as woodwardfan first though...he may not agree.

I played in the net, even made a few appearances at Semi Pro level, though never managed to get past that before my knees fell apart. I'd rather stick with Howard in the net tbf. Even long if that is the choice of Adkins.

I'd say 1,2, and arguably 3 are all down to Long.

He really did flap ineffectually for the first - about 5 yards from where I was standing. Feel almost didn't leave the ground, made contact with the ball but it went nowhere.

The second is a similar story in tone if not detail.

The third, well by then we are wracked with indecision, nobody knows what they're doing and mistakes are bound to occur.

A commanding confident keeper dominates his area, communicates with defenders and sorts things out.

This does not under any circumstances mean he should be given abuse by players or fans.

Worry you why?...because we don't have the same views?.......we need a clear out and if you can't see it you are far more worrying than me fella.

Howard is a good keeper. Undermining him is very likely to become a self-fulfilling prophecy and we'll have to spend money we don't have on a player we didn't need.

Howard, like all the team, will benefit from our support.
