Desso Pitch..

Like most posters Trig, I'm a novice regarding this. You may not have the answer, but given that there are two ways of laying this surface, is one preferable, or do both achieve the same standard?

Don't think there's any difference. Done a bit of digging around and it seems to be about half and half as to how it's done. Some of the biggest clubs had it done our way, but equal numbers had it done fibres first.

Me too, only saying what I've read, although with turf, I believe green side up is usually sound advice :-)

I have absolutely no idea, but my uneducated guess is they'd both work equally well.

I'm guessing the fact the teams have had it done different ways is due to the availability of the artificial fibre machines - do one club first then swap.

Probably worked out very nicely for them having two jobs so close together

I think it's been explained on here before, Desso can install in one of two ways. Either the grass seed goes in first and the artificial fibres after, or vice versa.

W*dnesday's was done with the fibres first, grass after. ours was grass first and now the machines have arrived to insert the fibres. That explains why our pitch looks greener than theirs.

Or something....although of course if you go on *wlstalk, there's hundreds of pages explaining how their's is the real deal and ours isn't :)

Thanks

Having looked on the Desso website it appears that the installation can indeed be either way but seems to be that the seed first then fibres way is the order they show it in..... Then they note it can be done the other way round.... http://www.dessosports.com/hybrid-grass/installation

What an episode! The removal of the dugouts was an unexpected twist, I wonder if they are putting race car seats in?
