I don't give a shit what league Mk Plastics are in, we would still be a bigger pull than them any day of the week. Ffs, how far have we actually fallen if this isn't the case.

How far have we fallen? Have a look at the league table and our utter lack of stability and you can then answer that one yourself. MKD will be in the Premiership before we will.

No, I'm most definitely a city boy... born in Rotherham to Sheffield parents who moved us back to Sheffield when I was 4 and consider myself Sheffielder entirely.

Sheffield is a big (ish) city by UK standards, but it's not "major". It's not in anyway considered important or major by anyone from outside Sheffield in the UK, and is barely even known about abroad.... and this is a subject we could debate for days, but the general evidence supports the view that Sheffield is a declining, unimportant, decreasingly significant, insular, inward looking, economic backwater... it just has a lot of people here still.

Anyone on here, who thinks that Sheffield is still a major world city, hasn't done much travelling!

It hasn't been a a major city since its Victorian heyday, and has been in rapid decline since the 2nd World War.

I too am a Sheffielder, and still live in one of its better suburbs, but for the most part, it is a complete shit-hole! Once you get away from the South West suburbs, i.e. S10, S11, S17, then it really isn't very nice at all. As for the city centre, it's just an embarrassing legacy that has been left to us by successive Labour run councils, over the past 4 - 5 decades. A couple of months ago, I had to venture down there for the first time in years, and couldn't believe how tatty, run-down and squalid it felt. I really couldn't wait to get out of there! What a dump!

But, Sheffield folk insist on continuing to vote the Labour plonkers back in to local government, and so they deserve everything that they get in the end! And, as the years progress, Sheffield will continue to decline, and become even less important than it is now!

Yes, I love certain leafy areas, and the Peak District on our doorstep, truly is spectacular and world class!

But, visit the continent, or further afield, and you soon realise how insignificant and down-at-heels Sheffield really is! I've lived here for nearly 46 years, but, if I could afford to move abroad tomorrow, I would jump at the chance!

Brings back a horrific memory of a few years back when it was 'announced' by a never again seen ITK that Peter Reid had walked off the Eurostar as the winning candidate.

(Shudders)

Karl Robinson speaks very highly of Sheffield United, lots of family up north and #SUFC could match wage demands. Awaiting more info.

No one claimed Sheffield was a 'major world city'. The phrase was 'major city'. It depends how you define 'major'. It's England's 5th largest city after London, Brum, Manc and Leeds, with an built up, urban area of about 720,000, that includes Rotherham. It's a similar size as many other European cities that we've all heard of like Strasbourg, Alicante, Stuttgart or Dusseldorf. No need to put the city down or big it up. It's a relatively big city. End of.

Who has final say though.KM JP or the prince? Or do they settle for one they all agree on an we possibly miss out on the best man

Curbishley is an interesting one, but he's been out the game too long. He'd be a huge gamble, ridiculously huge.

I wanted him before Clough and I still want him. I just don't see why he would join us, not that I would complain if he did!

I find it much more difficult to think of reasons why he wouldn't. Anyonie would think we were fucking Rochdale with the defeatist talk on here. White flags are available at the exits...

Because he's at Milton Keynes and Sheffield United want him. There's no comparison, whatever the transient league status.
Hardly been a stepping stone to greater things has it this job in recent years. Mk have a brighter future at the minute unfortunately.

Exactly there's only so far MK Dons will be able to go and maybe reaching the Championship is it. He's already conceeded in interviews this summer that they are at the back of the queue for most of his targets, they'll struggle to get in the players he truely wants. He's a young boss still and there's no doubt he'll get to manage in the Championship and maybe beyond at some stage of his career, so just because there now in a higher league doesnt mean he wouldn't jump at the chance of coming to a club like ourselves.
