Who's this mate? There we are, comes in at 50/1.
Who advises McCabe, The Prince, Jim P. et al ? None of them are football professionals, so obviously they will have people advising them, who are they ? Morgs will presumably have a roll in the process.

McCabes track record?I'm not sure how none of them having played professional football prevents them from being able to handle a recruitment process
JFHWho's this mate?
Cheers mate.
JFH must be in with a shout but given our 'connections' don't be surprised if we bring in a foreign manager![]()
Good point. If Clough's sacking was the Prince's decision, there's a decent chance someone he knows from his Saudi club is being lined up.
Both Eric Gerets and Cosmin Olaroiu enjoyed success in their short spells at Al Hilal (nobody lasts long in Gulf football) and both are currently coaching club sides in UAE, so might be tempted if the money is right.
Also seem to remember the Prince mentioning Gerets in an interview when he joined.
Also Bakki might have some influence
I was hoping that we would give him until at least Christmas. I really don't see the point in such a short term attitude to hiring and firing. I appreciate that much of last season's Fayre was garbage but it's no way to long term success.
I hope I'm made to eat my words and it may sound like the bleeding obvious but the next manager really needs to be the right one for many years. Not a quick fix filler off the managerial merry go round.
Just heard Kazarre13 and Bergen Blade have put their applications in. Don't shoot the messenger because i know rumours can get shot down on hereAlso Bakki might have some influence, it wouldn't surprise me if we finish up with a foreigner.
Hi guys, preston fan here.
Got to say surprised to see they have sacked Clough, with the season you had.
It has taken Pne 4 years to build the club again from the base up, got rid of the deadwood and bad attitudes in season 1.
Season 2 appointing a decent manager and building a better squad.
Season 3 we made the semi play offs, did disappointingly but stood by the manager.
Season 4 completed the squad with a couple of clever signings, hung around auto for the rest of the season, failed last day, rest is history.
Thing is there's some half decent clubs in league 1, all capable of beating each other on the day. We went through to our fourth manager in a short period, but learnt that stability is the key and building a really good defence, more for the players more than the manager. I thought sheff United were on the same path as us but a year behind and Clough would have taken. You up next season.
Good luck with whoever you get and good look for the coming season. Always have enjoyed my visits to bramall lane, even though we got beat most of the time.![]()
Give it to Morgs!1 Please not Billy Davies, Sam Allardyce, Ian Dowie etc or any of the other that get trotted out.
We could give Brian Robson a call whilst we have leave of our senses.Wrong decision IMHO, but we know what's expected now.
I just hope they have someone big up their sleeve because there is no one available that I'd particularly get excited about.
I'm quite sadden, I think he did well for us, and we were moving in the right direction. Hoping we make Morgan the new manager
reckon McCabe and co will have already worked that out don't you?Clough's final year of his contract will need to be paid off, and that won't be cheap. Also his entire backroom staff bar Morgan will need to be paid off. We'll also need to offer a good salary to the incoming manager and allow him to bring in his team. This isn't going to be cheap for us at all. We could end up paying out a million quid to replace Clough with Parkinson
Thought you'd be laid in a darkened room somewhere?Fair point.
In the football world they all say that, what's the next thing that happens?............
Good post on fb sums it up:
Next season the new manager will be under intense pressure knowing that he'll likely be sacked if we don't go up in his first season in charge.
So regardless of whether Clough or A.N. Other is in charge next season, we'd be looking at a new manager if promotion isn't achieved. Don't see the problem myself.
If a manager is scared off by a challenge then perhaps he's not the man(or woman) we want. At least the new person will know we've got to set out to win games.
Have we really sacked the manager without lining up a replacement?
