CONFIRMED Clough Sacked

If I wanted a job in football I'm not sure I'd want backers like Porter and Hill. Good fellows, but footballers?.....

I was really opposed to the idea of Morgs as manager. But Porter and Hill carry such weight, they've completely reassured me that Morgs's lack of experience, suitability, and tactical know-how can be cast aside as concerns.

"..as has been stated, the club were sticking with Clough until this 'transfer target' meeting..."

I heard a rumour that something kicked off last night, so this was not planned, only a rumour though (so far)
You're right, it's true. There was a barbecue on our street last night and the fucking lot went up:)

Get ready for Morgan to be appointed. Why the hell hasn't he been sacked too?
Because [a] Clough didn't bring him in and McCabe regularly say's "he's part of the furniture"

Morgan has zero chance of being appointed - and rightly so.

We will go for experience, someone with track record that Clough didn't have and someone more experienced in the transfer market. Atkins possibly but with Cloughs back room squad on the move too [they were all notified over the telephone yesterday] there is obviously someone [who has his own back room squad] in play.

Personally good luck to him - whoever he is. Good luck to Cloughy and his mob too.

Decision to release Clough was 100% spot on for me. He didn't recognise any failings neither in the set up, nor the approach. When Mr McC asks the question, "what are we going to do different next season", and he's told, "nothing", I think the rest follows automatically.

Good enough, he steadied the ship and he's brought in one or two decent recruits. That said, he's brought in some not so good recruits too, employed some strange tactics at times and obviously had some well documented 'people management issues', Collins, Butler being the obvious ones. He failed to recruit in two key roles for me, in a proper goal scorer [Done's a good import but he's not the answer] and at CH following Maguires departure. I [personally] didn't like his style of play and I don't think he really knows how to play it any differently. So at least I will be saved from sitting through that again. If he's going he's gone - we have to secure any monies for new players [plus the money from the sale of Coutts] for whoever is coming in next.

New manager, yes always a risk but in this instance, one worth taking.

My view any hows

UTB and now, really looking forward to the new season ahead.

Holloway anyone? He failed at Millwall but he's definitely a proven manager and he would have the right attacking attitude.

Clough's final year of his contract will need to be paid off, and that won't be cheap. Also his entire backroom staff bar Morgan will need to be paid off. We'll also need to offer a good salary to the incoming manager and allow him to bring in his team. This isn't going to be cheap for us at all. We could end up paying out a million quid to replace Clough with Parkinson

Thoughts from first ten minutes of Football Heaven.

Parkinson - FH not aware of anything concrete to reflect the 1/10, think it's part of the fluctuating early market and possibly one big punt.

Ferguson - FH have spoken to him, has refused to comment on rumours/speculation.

Adkins - as Ferguson. Interesting thing here was they had spoken to him and he'd said similarly to Ferguson. Therefore, Adkins not ruling it out.

Most interesting thing out of the show thus far was the news that Neil Warnock has spent the day paintballing, and is now having a rest.

To help pay this off the new DESSO pitch is now a NETTO pitch.

Just seem this I would have kept him until Christmas but the problem would have been if say we lost 4 or 5 games early doors then the atmosphere would have been poisonous

Clough took us to two semi finals in 18 months with a league 1 club saved us from relegation and took us into the playoffs, not a bad return, A lot of people said that Ferguson made bad decisions through his my way or highway attitude, but it got results in the end, his previous record at Aberdeen was not going to save him on that day, I just hope that the board hasn't made a decision as they say out of the frying pan into the fire, and what happens next season if we don't get promotion? Sack the manager

We've got new grass now the lunatics are on it.

Someone on FH just referred to "rumours about disagreements over tactics"

Could it be that the board demanded that Clough play a more attacking style?

I'd have stuck with Clough but this was always a possible problem for next season.

Crikey moses. Been out all day and just got back to this. Fuck me, I didn't think the board had the bottle. I know I wanted him gone but I really, really, REALLY hope the board have done their homework and will make the right choice. Please let it be Warburton. 'Better wi nowt taken out' and all that..!

If they have have someone better then great, if not then we have just committed one hell of a blunder. We let him spend the money then sack him. A couple of things concern me.

1 Our track record is awful
2 We aren't a big draw for good managerd any longer. Look at the shit we have been employing since Robson. None of it screams big club makes big appointment.

I hope we know what we are doing for a change.

That was always my main worry. The more frequently you sack managers must also lower your stock among ambitious managers, although could possiby raise it among career managers interested in a pay off.
