Admittedly that is correct mate but i do think the board are proving their worth now and have took this decision upon themselves to get rid of Cloughy, it's going to cost us alot of money and like others have elluded too, this needs to be the right decision now otherwise we could be in this division for a twattin long time.
On reflection you are probably correct but I'm so fuckin angry at their inability to stick to their guns.
Yes, it was ball aching at times last year, but if you take his record in isolation it doesn't read 'sack' IMO!
I know managers have no scruples when it comes to accepting jobs, but I'd be very wary of working for sufc's current management incumbents.

Surely the same as Clough, apart from Morgan's failed us before with other managers and when he had ago himself.
I can judge Clough by what I've witnessed on the field - simply not good enough. I doubt that Morgan has had 1/10th of the influence on that.

I'm not for or against, just interested in how anyone could from such a strong opinion on him.

The board were backing him only last week when they released that video about season tickets. What has changed since then?

I have put on another post that i didn't want him to continue personally but i had come round to the idea of him being our manager next season, which to me means either a) something has been said out of context or b) they just chose to sack him after hearing his thoughts on this season, and ultimately his plans for next season, which could coincide with 'a' anyway.

I'd like to thank Nigel Clough for rescuing us from relegation last year, and the excitement of all the cup matches.

As one who has been sacked many times while just trying hard to do my job, I don't see much positive in this news.
You were sacked many times because of "creative" differences with your employers, Nigel Clough never did anything creative.

Some rumours started around midnight last night on twitter but wasnt sure how reliable they were. So well done to those people who were on the ball with this.

All in all - Clough had this coming. He made a right mess of last season. Thanks to him for steadying the ship and the FA Cup semi, but onwards and upwards.

I think we need to be realistic about some of the names - eg Warburton - he will have a pick of Championship clubs.

My money is on Jimmy Floyd Hasselbiank

When will we ever let a manager build his team this could set us back at least another couple of years . I'm sure clough knew what he needed next season but same shit again another bad decision.if new man doesn't get us up next season do we sack him ?

Hi guys, preston fan here.

Got to say surprised to see they have sacked Clough, with the season you had.

It has taken Pne 4 years to build the club again from the base up, got rid of the deadwood and bad attitudes in season 1.

Season 2 appointing a decent manager and building a better squad.

Season 3 we made the semi play offs, did disappointingly but stood by the manager.

Season 4 completed the squad with a couple of clever signings, hung around auto for the rest of the season, failed last day, rest is history.

Thing is there's some half decent clubs in league 1, all capable of beating each other on the day. We went through to our fourth manager in a short period, but learnt that stability is the key and building a really good defence, more for the players more than the manager. I thought sheff United were on the same path as us but a year behind and Clough would have taken. You up next season.

Good luck with whoever you get and good look for the coming season. Always have enjoyed my visits to bramall lane, even though we got beat most of the time. :-)

He's not even an option on most bookies websites, and as i've learned to my expense at many times, bookies rarely get it wrong.

He'll appear in the odds before long.

So he's a coach, the other coaches have collective responsibility but Morgs doesn't?
I just don't see why hes Teflon coated when others have paid with their jobs. It's inconsistent so I'm asking why.

if we are a year behind a team of cloggers with graysons long ball tactics then im glad we sacked clough when we did

I think this provides us with MASSIVE hope!

Talk of stability is nonsense, it only takes one full summer of preparation and then
one full season of action to do the business, as Bristol pointed out to us.

This proves the board DO HAVE a backbone and are able to make the decisions.
This proves that we do have ambition after all.

If Adkins gets the job, and makes some decent signings and get's rid of the small, weak lot we currently have
i think we will go on to storm this league next season similarly to bristol this.
Making decisions is one thing, but they have to be the right ones. Anyone can make poor rushed descions.
