This is speculation, but from what I'm hearing, I think it seems more likely that Clough is going to be sacked. I'd be surprised if he's still in charge by the end of this month.

This would hardly be startling news. However many seemed to have formed an opinion that Clough will be retained because he hasn't been sacked immediately, allowed to preside over the retained list etc.

Unlike when stating that we were signing Brayford I don't have any concrete news on this. But rightly or wrongly I think things are accelerating behind the scenes and Nigel will go.

They want out of this awful league next season. It's business to them, they want results. If it happens and his replacement gets us up nobody will be saying we shouldn't have sacked Clough. What's happened at Derby since he left has proven he lays good foundations but can't build the house

Where has this come from? And we likely to hear about this at the end of the week?

I said in an earlier post it is always dangerous to assume anything in respect of the blades. I don't put any stock on anything until it is confirmed in black and white (or NC makes a new signing) and JP did say there would be a review by the Board after the play-offs. So far they have said nothing so this wouldn't surprise me if it happened. Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't. If it does I expect the new manager would be announced at the same time.

I hope you are wrong. That would be a terrible decision.

The board should respect the majority of the fans (65%?) who apparently want him to stay.
Terrible? Excellent more like. The impression I get is the majority of fans do want him to go. This is a pro-Clough forum but on this issue I don't think it is representative of most fans.

From someone who is in the club. They have been told that the board are going to meet in a few weeks and that the prince gave Jim and co one job, that was promotion. That hasn't happened and is failure so something has to give. Also McCabe is very very unhappy. It seems the end is near for Mr.Clough.

Most of the squad are Clough signings or made their League debuts under him so if a new manager comes in then that would mean a lot of changes to the squad. I am sick of having to go through another transition. I think we have a better chance of getting promotion in 2016 under Clough (we have a good squad that needs a few more signings this summer) than if we will under a new manager (of course, as always, I will still support the new manager)

We don't know what a new manager would bring to the table. Would he need the summer to assess all the squad to find out what we need, therefore missing out on a lot of potential strengthenings? New chances to become first choices for Collins, Alcock, JCR, McEveley, Higdon, McNulty, McFadzean etc? Maybe Basham could play in defence and the comeback of Wallace makes midfield additions unnecessary? New three year plan? Progress and squad building next season, then a real go in 2016/17? Or should we say new one and a half year plan?

What makes people so confident that the board's next choice would get us automatic promotion at the first attempt? I've been a fan for 24 years, and have witnessed ONE promotion. The normal thing, what usually happens, is that Sheffield United do not get promoted. Success doesn't happen unless we over time make good, long term decisions and gradually get stronger. Swapping first team managers isn't always a short cut and we should know that.

How do you get to that conclusion ? This is a pro Clough forum and is not representative because it doesn't suit your view ,where does your impression come from then Porktalk? Where would you find a fairer more representative poll than the one on here ? The only reason I can see for your 'impression' is the anti Clough are the biggest mouths or you are just so blinkered you wont see reality.

Yawn. My impression comes from matches themselves, other social media and speaking to people. A few hundred people on here is not representative of 20,000 fans in my opinion.

I can't comment on Porktalk because I don't read it but I am sure the pigs will be hoping Clough stays.

What you describe would be the worst outcome of all. If Clough is going to be sacked it should be this week and we should have a replacement lined up.

If the board are not even planning on meeting for a few weeks they'll probably spend another month drawing up a shortlist of suitable replacements and appoint their fifth choice of successor the day after the transfer window closes.

Can you confirm that you're not regurgitating a poll of a hundred or so people on here, many of whom are exiled?

Where are your numbers from?

UTB

Blades Mad had a poll as well.
Also 63% in favour of keeping Clough.
I've already answered your question re the silent majority on another post which you agreed with.

Other social media gives me same impression as on here. There are some very vocal fans who are anti-Clough, the majority want stability. Even the game last Monday suggested this. The chants of 'sacked in the morning' at 5-3 down were not sung by that many people.

I think you should argue that a silent ( I'd add begrudging) majority support him.

If the club start making policy based on polls on here I'd be really worried.

Think you'll find the list is far more advanced than the drawing up stage!

The lunatics are best kept in a cupboard, no where near the new grass.

If it is true speculation then , he has not yet met the board members for a post season debriefing . SUFC would have to be proactive with someone else coming in as a replacement immediately . Clough will no doubt have divided the board with some of his decisions this season . The only person who they can ask for comment from the players / staff aspect is Morgan .

Although still somewhat perplexed by some of Clough management / tactical awareness , , changing managers for us has not got us anywhere . If true we will see no incomings this month , and finances , wasted money , and contracts for average players worth no sell on value , will come into play . If Clough did go , Brannigan would have to go with him , plus back-room staff , and we start all over again.

We are having to rebuild the squad anyway , who ever is in charge . We are around 5 players short , which if Clough had resolved the CB debacle , we may have even got promotion , and be rebuilding in a higher league . The talk on many occasion has been around players , and the round pegs in square holes scenario . The board could now view it exactly the same with Clough and Club.

I would like him to stay , for the stability card , but is that just a lame excuse.

Finances will play a major part , in season ticket sales ,sponsorship , funders , board members , who in one way or another , are all stakeholders in the club.

The players have not helped Clough , as well as him , not helping himself . If he stays or goes SUFC and fans ,still go on , no matter what .

Brannigan as worked with other managers before.

What's happened at Derby since he left has proven he lays good foundations but can't build the house

Basically nothing has happened at Derby. They have got worse. Losing PO finalists last season. Not in POs this.

This is a pro-Clough forum

If you think this is a pro-Clough forum just flick through the General Blades Chat pages for some serious Anti-Clough comments.

I would say that most comments relating to NC on here is anti-clough. Rarely will you get a thread starting with somebody's love for the man.

The vocal people are always the ones that don't agree with something.

Bet you were in the carpark when Danny Wilson was appointed weren't you?

Derby wouldn't have reached the play offs last season or been anywhere near em this had Clough still been their manager... They'd be around the pigs in 15th

Yes we have to sign 5 good players if Clough stays on. If we bring in a new manager then he will want more than 5 new players because he may feel that Clough's signings from the last two seasons will not fit in his style of play. I think we might be near to FFP limit so I think keeping Clough would be more sensible and it will give us a better chance of getting promotion in 2016

I'm not sure what Wilson has got to do with the boring negative tripe, poor signings and bonkers team selections we have witnessed under Clough. But no, I wasn't.

I had the same discussion with my dad & the biggest change has to be in the setup at the club. Changing manager now is just pointless & we will be having the same discussions in 6-18 months. In no way does that make me pro/anti Clough & have seen the reactions on here when people try to state the obvious with what they see.

I honestly feel the biggest mistake the new regime made was not admitting they knew nothing about running a club but failing to look at what happened at clubs like Southampton by their new owners.

If the head coach moves on their replacement is already known about & the whole backroom stays. The best coaches, scouts, physios get employed. They have to buy into the ethos at the club & all levels of the club play the same way.

If a player leaves not only is their replacement ready for first team action but the next replacement is already scouted too.

They were discussing this on talk sport & it seems to me that every manager who's name crops up can only work with certain people, it all goes wrong, they all leave & it all starts again. Can we really continue doing this as it's doing my head in?
