Phipps was sat just along the same row as me tonight, he will have heard the sacked in the morning stuff etc but hopefully he will be strong enough to let clough have a full pre season with 2 new centre backs a marquee club captain one I hope,
also saw Kyle walker before the game no dog with him though.

Yeah I said that about 6 months ago. I'd be off if I were him.

Who is going to come in for him?

He isn't as good as a lot of blades think, he has average pace, average ability when it comes to beating defenders and he scores rarely, to be honest hes a perfect Sheffield United signing.

Do you reckon We have got the budget to bring in these 'quality' replacements everyone is going on about?

There needs to be some very good players available on free transfers, I think we blew the budget in January.

We will be freeing up quite a bit of money with outgoing players, centre backs are the priority and leaders.

He was talking about Jamie Murphy (11 goals this season and our best player). You seem to be describing Ryan Flynn (1 goal this season and last went round a full back in 2013).

No he hasn't completely lost the supporters backing. There some here and on facebook who even after going out tonight still think we're better off with him.
Would you like to start a poll on that, my guess is that the Clugh to go vote would far outweigh the stay vote, I was not in favour of a change until the last few games, now I cannot see what Clough can do to change it. He has blowen It big time. Some of the decisions he makes are bizarre. It would be a gamble to replace Clough, I am now of the firm opinion that it is a bigger gamble to keep him.

He might have fallen out with players (or he might not have) but those left all have seemed to get on as a squad and all those left seem Ok playing for Clough, even those who have been bench warming.

Perhaps those who have left are bad apples, how would us fans know either way?

We were in the playoffs ffs, a major improvement on where we were when he took over.

The calamity defence is down to Clough

He's only had all season to sort it and no cb's amounts to incompetence

That defence looked like a bunch of schoolboys

He has to take responsibility and therefore should go imo

Crosspool U11 5 Handsworth Boys U11 5.

Basham, Beard, Harris, Freeman, Flynn, Murphy, Done, Adams, McNulty and hopefully Davies will be legends next season.

I do feel Coutts will be too, given a decent Summer.

With the right CB pairing, we can be Champions. Changing management now, would only be a big gamble.

I was on the verge of taking you seriously until you mentioned Coutts.

Let's hope Phipps and the management team remain sensible and keep Clough.

I think they will be swayed by the potential of financial losses from season ticket sales.
So unless they are prepared to subsidise the losses then he could be a goner.

Also think if the team doesnt start absolutley flying next season from the get go. Then things could turn ugly.

10000 already sold for next season and averages of almost 20000 this year....

I've said on other posts.
waste of time talking to some fans, swiss Its always change of manager and further down the leagues we go,
lets hope that phipps and co show a bit of patience. All blades are frustrated with whats happened this season, right from day one with that patched up centre back partnership things wer,nt right and cloughy has to take the blame for that and one or two other things . give him chance to atone for his mistakes he may be too pround to admit it . unless he brings in the right players and we all know where the weanesses are(the opposition have found it easy to work that one out) he will be gone soon enough. we have some excellent young players coming through and cloughy is progressively bringing them through but that is something you cant rush.It could be that if he does fail a
new manager would benefit from the spade work clough has done(being sacked at derby still bugs him due to the fact he never got chance to finish the job) but i for one and i think blades are split 50-50 on this feel he deserves another crack at it .We have had some great moments in the cups these past two seasons and from listening to cloughs after match interview he is going to neglect them somewhat next season(if still here) the extra work load
has without doubt obsructed our league results. So if we get knocked out by lower league team dont ask for him to be sacked.Swindon our conqueres who are a very good team by league one standards were beaten 5-0 by
cheltenham ( FA cup) and they have struggled to stay in the football league!!
my mantra again is patience(how many times have i said that)
We have some great fans lets not throw the baby away with the bath water.
roll on next season hopefully with cloughy in charge ,this is not a time to withdraw your support
keep the faith! !

Are you for real ?
4pts better off this season but with a worse points per game ratio taking out the disaster that was Weir, we have gone backwards and only got into the play off's due to a record low points total being needed (69 was enough this season).

OH dear, 60/40 in favour of keeping him at the moment

60% is not really a resounding vote of confidence though. I think we would want a manager with 80%+ support to bring some stability and togetherness to the club.

And the impression I get from the matches themselves, speaking to people and wider social media is that the overall support for Clough is significantly less than 50% never mind 60%.

He's too negative, can you actually see us dominating a league? Taking the games to the opposition and going all out for the win? Seriously?

Yep we have to keep the faith , we have no option in the religion of football.

Whatever spin us fans , Clough , or the board put on this season , it has been a disappointment , served up with some dire football and results . Ok they have been some great games , but you can count them on one hand.

Clough has a season littered with mistakes and poor management , but due to the previous history of this club sacking managers , he will keep his job .

The first thing Clough needs to do is reassess his back room staff , as the coaching requires to be improved in every area of the first team squad.

Let us give him the benefit of the doubt , but the guy gets 4 out of 10 from me . He might have done some spade work , but he also needs a new sweeping brush to clean things up.

On the whole we have had a consistent season, good cup runs, made the playoffs, put in a performance of true grit in the second leg, apart from the 1st 30 odd minutes, yes we have had some poor performances, and fans have rightly been critical, next season is a new start.

I was on the verge of taking you seriously until you mentioned Coutts.

Did you watch last night? Instrumental in 3 goals. He was just starting to get into his stride and play like those who saw him at Derby know he can. He just needs a decent pre-season to increase fitness levels. It is never easy joining in halfway through the season and playing catch-up.

Have to say I saw a good Coutts last night

With quality CB signings in the summer, it would be around 80%. Without decent CBs in, it maybe 30%.
