60% is not really a resounding vote of confidence though. I think we would want a manager with 80%+ support to bring some stability and togetherness to the club.

And the impression I get from the matches themselves, speaking to people and wider social media is that the overall support for Clough is significantly less than 50% never mind 60%.

Perhaps the 'Clough Outs' that are a bit like the 'Shy Tories'. :p

Also how many of the "in" vote are "give him 10 games" or "give him until Xmas"?

It's not quite as black and white as in or out, there are plenty of grey areas in this debate.

The board will give him all of next season , and back him to the hilt .Like it or like it not , we will have to do the same . The way next season will pan out , will ultimately be determined , on how early we do our business in the transfer market , and the quality of players we bring in . This will set the scene and benchmark for the 2015 / 16 season.

Here's my theory. This place is full of exiled Blades, who don't get to attend as many matches. If you don't watch as many games, it's easier to put up with. You are more likely to judge on league position alone. On that measure I'd be inclined to give more time. But throw in the boring matchday experience and it becomes more harder to stomach.

I've got quite a varied group of mates who attend matches. Support amongst them would be about 20% in favour of sticking with him.

I'm only just over the fence. I would only pull the trigger if we were to appoint a manager with some form of track record - like Nigel Adkins.

Alco , good point . In saying that Atkins or any other bloke doing the manager merry go round cannot guarantee us nothing . Thats the reason we have got to stick with Clough . We may well be successful or unsuccessful next season , but thats the risk . The positive out of the negative , is that if he had sorted this CB problem out , we could have done it this season.

Could it be , we had no more cash to get the CB we required or he thought the players we already had , were good enough .Who knows but Clough .

The match day experience at the lane is painful and not at all enjoyable , which could be another mitigating factor against Clough , as i am sure the sponsors feel the same as us , with many being fans.

Did you watch last night? Instrumental in 3 goals. He was just starting to get into his stride and play like those who saw him at Derby know he can. He just needs a decent pre-season to increase fitness levels. It is never easy joining in halfway through the season and playing catch-up.

Yep. Watched him from behind the goal. Instrumental in 3 is pushing it given how many other players touched the ball before we scored and I don't recall (may be wrong) any assists. What I do remember is a slow, lethargic man who gives the ball away more times than not. last night he was no better, no worse than he has been all season - just bloody awful.

As I said last night, we really miss Doyle when Coutts plays instead.

At the same time, let's not over simplify our problems. It is not just about CB's. The midfield is disjointed, and Clough clearly is overly cautious. We were pre warned about this.

I'm not saying all is lost, but it's not just a case of buying 2 half decent CH's and walking the league.
