disagree strongly. managers are far, far too conservative in these sorts of situations. it's understandable, if they go gung-ho late and get a winner 40% of the time but lose the rest of the time, he gets sacked for throwing away leads over half the time, despite actually getting more points than parking the bus.

there is zero point in sacking clough now, or before the end of the season. transfer window's shut so it's not like any change of manager can make any difference personnel wise. we've got depth in the squad, let's utilise it to stay fresher than our opponents until the end of the season and work out what our best eleven is for the playoffs, which in case people haven't worked out, is the height of our expectations now and something we're one point off with two games in hand.

Obviously strikers are hard to come by, but if you buy a midfielder every time one's offered, you're not leaving much in the kitty for a striker.

And clubs on a fraction of our resource seem to manage.

I think our lack of strikers says more about the importance Clough puts on attack. Not remotely enough, hence the bang average track record.

Last season's recovery under Clough led me to believe his strategy was to build a team from the back and then to sign players who would improve the rest of the team.

I was happy with his intention to keep a squad of around twenty players. It appeared to be sensible and manageable, given that all players wanted game time.

Somewhere along the line, the manager has lost the plot.

We have a bloated squad and Nigel is stuck in a mid field dilemma.

He has yet to advance to signing a good striker and at this stage of the season. That' not good enough.

I've been out today so had no idea how we'd done, so guess my delight when I saw we'd beaten Bristol? Superb, nothing short of superb. It's not a case of getting carried away, but surely when there's an idiotic scream from foot-in-mouth brigade due to one poor result, this also warrants an equally emphatic praise for our team's manager........or have I missed something?
