Clough must go now

I can't help but lol at the fickleness on here.

After Tottenham and Swindon it's "IN NIGEL WE TRUST" and all that, and after a shit result it's back to this. Maybe it's different people but it seems like some change their side more often than a ping pong ball.

They don't change sides as often as Clough changes the team.

Or as often as NC changes the team sheet

Great minds Grumpy

He stated he thought this with 4 mins left on the clock, that is just common sense with how it was going. He wanted the win but as professionals they should have known to preserve what they had, go away and lick their wounds. Seems logical given the time left and how it ultimately finished

disagree strongly. managers are far, far too conservative in these sorts of situations. it's understandable, if they go gung-ho late and get a winner 40% of the time but lose the rest of the time, he gets sacked for throwing away leads over half the time, despite actually getting more points than parking the bus.

there is zero point in sacking clough now, or before the end of the season. transfer window's shut so it's not like any change of manager can make any difference personnel wise. we've got depth in the squad, let's utilise it to stay fresher than our opponents until the end of the season and work out what our best eleven is for the playoffs, which in case people haven't worked out, is the height of our expectations now and something we're one point off with two games in hand.

It's been said before but the use of the word "clappers" as a shorthand insult to anyone who doesn't subscribe to a sack-the-manager, the-board-are-all-in-it-for-themselves worldview is irritating in the extreme.

Oh, has it? When? Maybe I should have used it in its long form then as 'Gullible twats who are prepared to put up with any old crap because they like the manager's name and think he's really his dad.'

Eeza better, yes?

We need leaders and players with balls who will fight for the cause . Either that or we ain't as good as we all thought we were.

Baffled.

We need the beard breathing fire, brimstone and blood while kissing his shirt badge and producing a throbbing vien in the side of his head while he bellows at his team mates to find some bollocks and stop pussy footin about!:mad::mad:

Good post.

Obviously strikers are hard to come by, but if you buy a midfielder every time one's offered, you're not leaving much in the kitty for a striker.

And clubs on a fraction of our resource seem to manage.

I think our lack of strikers says more about the importance Clough puts on attack. Not remotely enough, hence the bang average track record.

Not saying cloughs team are not trying to win, but with all those midfielders, it's certainly looks like he's set up to not lose

Last season's recovery under Clough led me to believe his strategy was to build a team from the back and then to sign players who would improve the rest of the team.

I was happy with his intention to keep a squad of around twenty players. It appeared to be sensible and manageable, given that all players wanted game time.

Somewhere along the line, the manager has lost the plot.

We have a bloated squad and Nigel is stuck in a mid field dilemma.

He has yet to advance to signing a good striker and at this stage of the season. That' not good enough.

Ball number one is Howard ball two is Alcock ball three is Haarris
putting the balls into the bag it's Morgans turn.
This weeks the ball is chosen by non other than the mascot Captain Blade.

Not really, to be honest.

If we dont get in the play offs he has to go, but until he gets a team he wants to play with a fit Done be silly even thinking about it

If watching the game is what was only on offer I doubt if i would turn out its been that bad this year.
The social side is the only thing thats kept me going to the Lane this season.
Hes got to be bold tomorrow night same old and a lot will turn on him.
Be warned Nigel

Don't want to speak too soon, but it looks like that Gillingham result could be this seasons 'Crewe moment'. That's got to be a huge morale boost.

An important lesson in not shooting your load in the angry/delirious post-match haze

Could Billytheblade comment please?

Bill, you began this thread, so I think it's only fair you take this opportunity to congratulate Clough on today's result. Who saw that coming? I've been out today so had no idea how we'd done, so guess my delight when I saw we'd beaten Bristol? Superb, nothing short of superb. It's not a case of getting carried away, but surely when there's an idiotic scream from foot-in-mouth brigade due to one poor result, this also warrants an equally emphatic praise for our team's manager........or have I missed something? Surely when you do well you celebrate? Or isn't that allowed in doom and gloom land?

We're a league club not a cup club.

Question is should he have been appointed in first place. Yes I think before I post I don't just follow us blindly down the leagues like some!

Blade56 your very quiet today???

I would guess you're actually disappointed we won today so you couldn't continue your crusade against Clough and all your "the king hasn't got any clothes on" rubbish.
