Clough must go now

Today was unacceptable I think everyone agrees that. Not because of the result but because of the lack of performance. I can take losing but not playing dogshit like we did. However, anyone thinking of sacking the manager is either 100 percent pork or just a fucktard. Take your pick.

3 league wins since last October says different

Clough - not tactically aware enough, too negative, too stubborn etc. A piss poor manager in my opinion but unfortunately he's here to stay. At least the clappers can enjoy clapping mediocrity until the end of the season and then have all the excitement of another bumper thread speculating on next year's kit to look forward to. Yes, that is just about as good as it will ever get with Clough in charge.

Good post. Divisive in the extreme and not a constructive word in there. Dear oh dear.

No it doesn't. Usual suspects sabre rattling rather than engaging their brains before they post. You really think sacking yet another manager is the answer.

By the way I assume cup wins stopped counting in your mind.

Lets just build a team this season and then go for it next season.......

Naaa sack the manager and start over with someone else, sack him and go again, sack them .......you get the message.

I hoped against hope we had fans better than that but clearly I was wrong.

I still think we will finish strongly as the pitches should be hard and form in the last 6 weeks of the season and that will suit us

Hope so Silent . We need a settled side , a leader and a striker . Not much to ask for with the clock ticking. Mr Clough has to be man enough to hold his hand up when he gets it wrong . Also players win matches and they have to start looking in the mirror . In saying that , no consistency can be achieved with continual changes. Confidence seems low and no thought process .

I echo all comments saying Clough shouldnt go...

However i do feel we need to cut the size of our squad by a fair amount in the summer. How many sides in and around us make as many changes as we do on a game by game basis? Our players arent been able to build an understanding with one another on the pitch and sometimes.. well alot of the time, it shows in our play.

Fair comment. Totally agree this gets to the real problem

In reality Clough has to be given a fair crack of the whip before we consider any quality managerial replacements.

I think he should have until Xmas. How much more budget should he be trusted with? There lies the rub. All the budget of course, but how much should he need? How much is the budget?

The manager and the owner(s) are learning about each other. I would say the owners are disappointed in the league and not in the cup. How on earth do they fathom it out?

Because of the cups NC will get extra time. Is he better than Wilson in the league - yes he is, Wilson inherited good players, paid healthy salaries way above this league. Clough has a favourable budget but not that good. However he looks all over the place now.

Up to press they are both failures. Thing is we have to go up, otherwise the new owners would wish they weren't here! A bit like us!!

So I've just had to have that conversation with my youngest lad about how supporting a football club (particulalry one like ours) is full of ups and downs. You know how it goes, "through experiencing these disappointments the successes become more meaningful, etc, etc". In other words trying to persuade an already skeptical 9 year old that it's still worth supporting the Blades instead of Man City. I even pulled out the classic if "everyone only ever supported successful clubs there'd only be about 4 professional clubs in England, blah, blah, blah". In the end I just trumped it with "who do you think is going to take you to watch Man City anyway". I know I'll wear him down eventually and we'll all be there on Tuesday.
Great start to my Saturday evening, thanks United.

Ps if you anyone feels the need to report me to social services, I fully understand.

What was the pitch like? if it was heavy then it is difficult to play passing footbal

Pitch was terrible, every time we tried to run it jumped up and bit us in the ankles, every time we passed it turned into sand, but when Gillingham had the ball, it turned into a snooker table, theyre all against us I tell thee, all against us!

Of course the reality for the season is that we will stick with the manager.
It's also true that for the resources we have in comparison to our league 1 counterparts we are massively under performing .
The composition of the team lacks any physical presence, we are soft at set pieces and generally vulnerable at the back , we don't appear to have any plan to score , we fail to dominate even at home, we chop and change personnel without any change.
The crowd are quiet in the main , games are uninspiring and predictable, I dare say some have become accepting of this level of mediocrity.
I doubt clough will change his approach, his methods, his tactics and can't therefore see much change in fortune.. Although as blades, it's in our dna to believe it will.
As supporters we are the victims of "paper over crack" cup runs, reputations , egos of men in suits and transfer windows.
However as we limp through another season in the third tier we should remember ....

....we are better than this

Having no striker is like a pub with no beer....... Come on landlord, sort it out - and no, we should not call time just yet!!

Not condoning calls for the sack, but the neverending striker issue is too frustrating and I am not a fan of 19 changes every week.

We're a league club not a cup club.

Question is should he have been appointed in first place. Yes I think before I post I don't just follow us blindly down the leagues like some!

Thought Gills first goal (their first shot on target) came after a long ball into the middle?

Would next season be any different . I don't think so . Mr Clough has got to look at bringing Collins back . Also the older pros have to help the younger players , when they need help or advice on the field of play .Its shit or bust this season for us imo.

Individually we have good players , but as a team the players have to grow some balls , man up , and take responsibility for there on field decisions .

Then don't. Adapt to each reality as we come against it.

Sadly, he's too stubborn and despite a huge squad, we lack the ability to mix it anyway.

Off to wash my mouth and think about the fluffy new ethos shift.

Schtop!! Calm down. People are talking as if the seasons over and we have no chance. It's a shit result today off the back off a shit result last Tuesday. There were numerous changes to the squad not to mention the new boys coming in and others featuring after lengthy injuries. Times on our side. We just need a good run. Outing Clough would be a disaster. The team needs to settle again for the new players. I think we will come good.
How long have we been saying this Bart, no more looking like going on a run than anyone else around us.

Thought Gills first goal (their first shot on target) came after a long ball into the middle?

Yep they even managed to change the length and shape of the ball as well! wizardry I tell you.........

Season over IMO, face it its just not going to happen I think we have been really unlucky in many ways.

1, we signed a centre half that simply didn't fit in so we were back to the drawing board there
2, we sign a big lad upfront who had as good of a debut as I've seen even though we lost turns out he can't seem to fit in either
3, we bring in a lad on loan who looks like he's the forward we've been missing all ready to sign on a perm then his parent club sack the manage and the new gaffer give him a new lease of life
4, we have the country's top scorer ready to sign on the dotted line then his club do the dirty because they are run by a dirty piggy bastard

I also think our manager has to admit he has gone a bit overboard in the midfield department though this is the this of our midfield players if you include wingers, attacking midfield, Central midfield, defensive midfield, and right and left midfield.

Wallace 1
Wallace 2
Doyle
Scouggs
Baxter
Murphy
Adams
Basham
Flynn
Jcr
Done
Coutts
Holt
Reed
Davies

This needs addressing ASAP we are carrying to many and NEED a forward now get some shipped out on loan and in the shop window.

I laughed when I saw the teamsheet today. Wtf is he playing at?

He gets to summer, but at this rate I'm hardly confident. His tactics, his supermarket transfersweep business and purchasing of midgets make me think he's pretty clueless about what it takes to go up in league 1.

Shouldn't be sacked but he needs someone at the club to scream at him.

Not much to add to that Fox but the reality is if we carry like this we could end up in a relegation battle
