Good point
Not sure if his argument with the director was during the 1955-56 season when we got relegation but he did lead Man City to win the league in 1968, the FA Cup in 1969, the League Cup and the Cup Winners Cup in 1970. Managed England in Summer 1974
Mercer, like Bruce and the failed Martin Peters, saw the Blades as a stepping stone to better things (from their perspective) and IMO there was no way they would have remained loyal, when a better offer presented itself.
Fast forward to today. No one, but no one can criticise Nigel on his loyalty to the clubs he has managed. IMO he has been a little premature in assembling a squad capable of playing in the league above ,but who are unlikely to gain promotion to that league .. However, as every man and his dog knows, a couple of big hairy arsed attackers could turn it around. Note Nige by big ,I mean well over six feet. tall, fed on raw meat and released from captivity for the duration of the game. Or just normal family men who can produce the fecking goods PLEASE.
