I wouldn't say that mate, what i would say is the thought of Wallace,Coutts and Reed in midfield has certainly got masses of potential to be a top quality Championship midfield.Things are finally looking up,although i do conceed it's 6 months too late for the auto's,but i'm not writing us of just yet for promotion.
It's got my footy Mojo fizzin wizadry . Think I will explode if we pull off another double

Is this the end for doyle ? I really hope Brayford is welcomed back home on Wednesday night - it would set the evening off at a high tempo.

Coutts will be our new corner taker, watch and weep

Brilliant. Not content with our current poor set-piece routines, we now have someone that can deliver a ball straight into the keeper's hands on a consistent basis.

No, he can deliver it where HE wants on a consistent basis

Aha. Now we get it. Derby had an agreement whereby if they sold Freeman some of the fee would go to Forest. So let him go as a free makeweight when someone else leaves and the Rams' bitter rivals get nothing. Crafty, that, and precisely what Swansea did when selling Davies and Vorm to Tottenham, a deal the League are currently investigating.

It's the only type of corner he can deliver. It's the same for his 5-yard passes to feet on the halfway line - they are going to end up in the keepers hands. I've never seen him play, or researched anything about him, but I'm fairly sure this is accurate.

Sorry if I'm repeating some posts but I'm underwhelmed by these two signings. More of the same - a full back who was barely good enough when he last played for us and another midfielder to join a long list of midfielders who could all interchange and nobody would notice. Our squad is over 30 or thereabouts. The defender is 5'10" and the midfielder is 6', not a lot of "beef" added. Between them they have scored about 10 goals in all their first team careers.

Then we plan to splash over a million on another full back. What's going on????? Flynn has been one of our standout players since he dropped back to right back. Now Freeman and Brayford and Alcock will play there before him and he won't make the position his own, he'll just join the pack of midfielders.

Should we just rename the club "Derby Old Boys" and play in black and white?

We need strikers!!! At least two - why? because we will get injuries and suspensions.

I'm bewildered to be honest.

What's wrong with these two plus two strikers? Give it a chance mate,i'm quite impatient myself but they've started the ball rolling, lets see what happens.

I must admit, I have been bewildered by some of Clough's choices and decisions regards to tactics/transfers. On this occasion though I see more of a plan as we have plenty of games coming up and Freeman and Couts would not have cost much. Freeman gives Harris a rest and I think this Coutts can give us an alternative to Doyle now that we have found out that Basham is actually a centre back.

'If' the beard does come back we will automatically look sharper down the right handside which will benefit us in the one thing we have struggled to do all season which is to create chances. Without these chances, it's pretty pointless to get 1 striker, nevermind 2. The shape of the team needed to improve in January and I hope we are nearly there.

You're forgetting John 'the second coming' Brayford too!
I really can't see us getting Brayford now, what would be the point when we have Flynn,Davies,Alcock, and now Freeman when we can spend that money on the firepower that will get us out of this league.

Freeman will have been brought in to cover left back primarily. We only have Harris.

As for the Brayford signing, we're clearly planning for when we get out of this league too. With Brayford, Basham and Harris as three of our back four that is one short of a solid Championship defence with an attacking threat in either full back position. Imagine if Maguire had stayed in that back line...

We will sign a striker before the window closes. If it is O'Grady or someone of a similar standard, great. You'd look at our squad then and say we look pretty formidable going into the latter stage of the season. Not many will want to play us in the play-offs with a team like that, regardless of our record. We're not cursed, we've just been shit and on a downer when we get there. I have a feeling it will be different this year,

Flynn and Davies aren't full-backs. Freeman is cover for Harris and Alcock will be cover for Brayford. So we have two players for every position except midfield where we have about four players for every position and can expect to see one or two departures.

I like COG but if we carry on playing with the same tactics then what we need is a striker that will create chances for himself and COG isn't this.We need COG plus one other.

Theoretically speaking you're right but after Flynnys' performances how can anyone say otherwise. Also i'd say McEveley is more than an adequate replacement for Harris if need be,that's his proper position afterall.

Personally, although I wouldn't complain at signing COG, I personally would like a pacy striker. COG might make us go a bit direct a bit too early for me and I don't think suits what we try to do as a whole.

Nothing is mate, and i hope this is the case for all our sakes.

Have faith :)

I disagree to be honest. Personally, I think our strikers are asked to do too much chasing in the league. We'd be better suited to them staying between the posts and giving opposition centre halves something to deal with rather than running channels and chasing full backs in my opinion.

With Murphy, JCR, Flynn, Harris, Reed, Baxter, Scougall, potentially Brayford and now Coutts we have plenty of ability to create chances.

Yes,COG will be a valuable addition if we get him but we certainly still need another forward.

I think Ogrady is the pefect player in the style we play ,with better players playing more attacking football ,and also the opportunity to change to 2 forwards with McNulty I can see the jigsaw coming together.

What exactly are you disagreeing with? I don't set our side up,what i said was IF WE CARRY ON PLAYING WITH THE SAME TACTICS.I don't personally think we should play the tactics we use which is half of the reason i said get COG plus one other in.

The way we play doesn't give the players you mention the chance to create too much in the way of chances,we need to change our approach in games.

Apologies. I didn't notice you said the same tactics part. It's been a long week... :D
