Apologies if anyone has posted anything similiar but,
As a follow on from the Please don't buy any of this s***e thread, and in response to Billyblade's situation, (his lads keeper kit) am I one of the few who has difficulty comprehending the mindset of the Club in reference to the Club shop?
I too, went down to the Lane shop (start November) and bought the blue away goalkeeper kit for my little lad's birthday in late december. However the socks were sold out. Standard response it was all down to the supplier and we don't think we'll get anymore in this season. Only 4-5 year olds and Adult sizes were left.
There wasn't many kits (shirt and socks) left for the juniors (8-12 years old) but loads of adult sizes XL XXL etc etc. I asked them why so many Adult Goalkeeper kits and does anyone actually buy it. Seriously, Come on.....does any adult actually buy the full goalkeeper kit?
Its the quota that the supplier sends us. Really,.. I mean do the club not have a say in what they are ordering?
Fast forward to week before Christmas, I thought what to get the old man, I know lets get him a nice United polo shirt.
Sorry, Sir we haven't got one in XL or L for that matter, but we've got quite a lot of XXXL and small, will that do?
No fear, there's loads of gnomes to choose from.
I wasn't alone there seemed to be several people conveying messages on their phones to relatives explaining similiar predicaments.
Given that christmas which is arguably the second most profitable period for merchandise after the initial kit launch, it made me wonder how much this short sighted ideology is costing the club in revenue.
Unfortunately, the club shop appears to have not grasped the basic concept of economics, i.e supply and demand.
Finally, to Billyblade, don't worry mate your lad hasn't missed owt, the quality of the goalkeeper kit being supplied by adidas is dreadful. I'll know better next time.
Anyone else had similiar experiences or is it me just having a neurotic breakdown
