Equally I don't believe Phipps would be so indiscreet (he's a lawyer for gawd's sake), and I don't believe second hand witnesses.

Just read post by Pinchy , which i agree. Wallace was this player , but cannot be relied upon , due to being never fully fit. Maybe another midfielder on his way.

Bit harsh on Doyle after today who was my MOM. , but that is what is required unfortunately , and thats football.

WORKSOPBLADE if the rumour is true , then Brayford and a midfielder may be coming in , because Mr Clough would not be daft enough to still play Doyle and strip him of the arm band and give it to Brayford , never mind how good / cult figure he is.

We have got some togetherness of the players , and we don't want to rock the boat.

If the latest rumours of the two Derby lads coming are to also be believed maybe we've got Doyles replacement to also allow Brayford the armband. Lots of ifs and buts and we'll all have to wait and see but I expect it all to sort out this month.

Random thought: if indeed this is a goer, might NC have him penciled in for middle of defence? The thought just occurred as I personally don't feel full-backs, like goalkeepers, are positions that make good captains (was Bradshaw in 93/94 the last person to captain us from full-back?). I'm sure Brayford played a game or two in the middle and did well. Given Alcock, Davies, and now Flynn, can all play there (and NC's preference for Basham to be further forward) could Brayford partnering McEveley be what's in store?

Also heard that we chucked in a bid for Doyle at Chesterfield with higdon offered as bait. That wasn't as strong a rumour though

If the rumours going round , Sky sources , are correct , and the bids are substantial and not just token gestures to appease us fans . We can take it the club has true intent , to get out of shit league 1 , and show other clubs we mean business.

These 2no buys would be in the realms of game changing players / game changing investment.

Daft as it seems , it could be the difference between automatic and playoffs.

Do you think we're going for Doyle? Seems a lot of money for a player who might be a flash in the pan. I can't imagine we'll go after him if O'Grady comes back.
