In all honesty from what Ive seen of Diego he's not all that. Would be surprised if Bournemouth came in for him to be honest.

He should be loaned to Chesterfield for the remainder of the season...

The lad has not made a impact in the first team , then would not be missed or a great loss. The young lad and his parents have short memories that SUFC paid his wages when out of action for a year , with a career threatening injury . This alone should ensure that a contract is signed , and if he is good enough and flexible to fit the tactical system ( which the club is trying to adopt through all the teams from first team to U18s) he should develop at the blades.

Mr Clough will make the decision , not the lad , agent or his parents of whether or not he stays or goes. The lad owes SUFC more than we owe him.

He is from a very close knit family , and any move would be better near home , which puts Chesterfield in the frame . If i was SUFC , then use him to cash in , with the lad and Higdon for a direct swap for Doyle , and a fee to make up the balance. Would be good business for the blades , for shipping out 2no players who do not appear to fit the Clough model of playing football.

I haven't seen a lot of him but when I did see him I thought he was very raw, he clearly has ability with the ball at his feet but without the ball he was poor, he ball watched, he didn't anticipate well and he lost concentration on defensive positioning and closing down too often. I can fully see why NC isn't picking him.

To be fair to A19 byf he didn't start the thread but nobody actually called him a Paedo either - It's just that Diego has just the same chance of getting into the team as Reed IF he shows the talent on the pitch and the aptitude to succeed. Reed is showing how level headed he is and how much of a team player his is as well as demonstrating maturity beyond his years - besides a huge degree of skill and awareness - if what has been stated about Diego wanting a move is correct and factual then that demonstrates a dummy being spat out - that's all I can see from this lowly position as one of the Club's supporters for nearly 50 years.

I would hope he signs again with us, I think he is a real talent, along with Dimaio. Without being unfair to Scoogs, either of these two could take his place as both have an eye for goal, they were both the standout players when we played SWFC under 21's at BDTBL, along with the SWFC goal keeper.

Cressy was the one who got him to York as he works for them now as a coach and scout. He said that Diego wasn't even getting a look in at SUFC, It was obvious that Clough was really pissed off with his attitude when he came out and publically stated his annoyance. I quite like a bit of arrogance when it comes to strikers who have total faith in their ability, but it can be detrimental to the team as a whole. Presumably Cloughy feels this.

Nah, it's all an evil ploy by Clough to turn fans against him. The next thing we'll hear is that we've made a great offer to Diego, but he's turned it down and wants away and Clough isn't interested in players that don't want to be at the football club. He hates him you know.

Well theres several parts to a top players make up, the very best work the hardest train the longest and give 100% all the time
Diego has shown flair and control and no mean ability with the ball , but thats only about 30% of it , 70% is willingness to play as part of team supporting moving , and to be honest yet to see him display a lot of that, no putty in the graft , no getty any better, , its all down to him , if he displays a willingness to sweat blood he will be a regular , but so far not seen much ordinary sweat

Before I start I'm not one who has any kind of links to the Blades hierarchy nor do I directly know anyone at the club. Through a close friend who is also friends with Diego's family I have been told he is set to reject any offer United put forward to him.

Diego is very unhappy at United and is looking forward to leaving, when United recalled him from York he was extremely unhappy and nearly in tears to his father. He feels that York allow him to play with freedom and Clough doesn't, Diego has see a lot of players around the same age as him given their opportunity and he has been left behind. Clough wasn't happy with his attitude when he first joined the club and they haven't really seen eye to eye since.

Diego's agent is an ex Chesterfield player and two clubs that are interested in Diego are Bournemouth and Chesterfield. Chesterfield cant afford to pay a fee for Diego so it would have to be on a free.

I wouldn't usually write something like this on here because 9/10 the rumours on here are rubbish and the person writing is instantly shot down but with this coming from somebody I trust I thought I would share it.

Hope I am wrong, I wouldn't want to see us lose a promising youngster without seeing them given there chance to shine in the first team.

Like I said originally this is what I had been told and don't shoot the messenger, his words to me was when he is at York the management team are shouting at Diego to get at his full back but Clough wants him to concentrate on his defensive side.

I agree completely with Clough he clearly has bags of ability going forward but if he added the defensive side to his game this would improve him as a player. I'm no football coach but I guess the more Clough drills it into Diego to get back he will soon naturally do it without thinking.

A lot of mixed feedback to my original post but Diego still hasn't signed a contract, I'm sure he's holding out to get the best deal possible at this stage but until he does I have no reason to not believe what I had been told.
