Forest lost again today which sparked a curious thought in my mind (ooh sailor!), if Forest sacked Big Stu and offered the job to Clough do you think he would go and would you be bothered if he did?

Im not for a moment suggesting this going to happen but Pearce aint doing so good and given Nigel's association with the club, due his father, it might be too much for him to resist.

For me I would want Nigel to stay and I think I would be bothered if he did leave us. Like I said im just talking pie in the sky and was just curious what others would think.

I've always classed us blades as a really negative bunch, but we've had some shit to put up with over my life time.
T'old lad stood behind me shouting "get that fat useless wa**er off!" At Baxter always makes my heart sink...
But the gates we are pulling in-in league 1 also goes to show what kindda fans we are too

Mark, if you want proof that you are indeed the one talking Bull Shit, go read the New Manager Required and Negative Nigel posts.

We are in a decent position and how many Cups? We are punching way above our weight.

We are where we are because of the previous years of shit.

We were rescued from the brink by Negative Nigel or Clueless Clough.

Clough was loved last week, hated today.

You are just fucking lucky he doesn't change his mind as often as some of the fickle and idiotic fans.

You mean the same fickle fuckers who'll still be there in 30, 40, 50 years, even after the latest saviour has fucked off to pastures new?

We're punching way above our weight you say? We're in the Quarter Finals of a cup we won't win, the first round of the FA Cup and we're in Division 3, and all this on gates of 20,000 fickle fans.

The fans have been the only constant here, you can describe us as a lot of things but fickle certainly isn't one of them. As to "idiotic" well why's that, just because they don't agree with you? Always makes me cringe when I see somebody refer to fellow fans as "idiots" or "morons" just for having a different opinion, says more about the name caller than their targets IMO.

Always makes me cringe when I see idiots spouting shit like "Clueless Clough", or "Negative Nigel", the same clueless and negative bloke that rescued us from real shit...he has more knowledge in his little finger than some of the idiots on here that spout that kind of crap.

No it's not that people disagree, I'm all for good honest debate, but seeing that you started the shit flinging Mark, I thought I would sling it back!

Agreed. I was waiting to see what nickname the moron's would come up with for Clough, just like they did for Warnock, Blackwell and Wilson.

To start giving Clough that abuse after everything he has done for us in just 1 year is shocking.

Yeah we lost today, a loss many of us saw coming, but we'll bounce back.

There you go again, name calling and repeating yourself. You're all for good honest debate but refer to anyone who disagrees as an idiot.

Never mind, your user name says it all.

Wahey, "idiots" and "morons" in one thread. Why you clappers get even more bitchy than the knockers after a defeat. Now there's a turn up.

Managing Sheffield United is a thankless task. I would be off to a Championship club at the first chance. Thank God I'm not Nigel. He is certainly more loyal and patient than many fans.

The grass is always greener... Yeah, he could go to a Championship club where it wasn't a thankless task. Like Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Watford, Bolton, Fulham, Wednesday...

We are an average league 1 side with an average league one budget
We just got beat at home by as poor a barnsley side as i can remember

How in gods name are we punching above our weight ?

Thing is, if nigel did leave it would finally let the cat out of the bag regarding investment and how the board have backed him, not the way nigel appears to say so through gritted teeth that he was given all he wanted will finally be seen as truth or a manager knowing the limits of what he can say publicly...

Regardless of results in the positive, one loss and sections of our support lose a little faith and begin to question the manager, and rightly so in my opinion..

Starting without a striker must give our opposition a real boost in their changing room, the defenders must get a real adrenalin shot knowing there wont be much if any threat and will smell a clean sheet..

When we pile on the pressure, other teams brick it, and usually lose their one nill lead, and get beaten, and this season we usually take 5 minutes to score a couple..

4-4-2 clough, or nothing will happen this season..

Invest in a proper striker on loan in jan please, phipps, kmc, pound prince, or nothing will happen...

Or, as I suspect, are the club happy with 20,000 gates, paying league one wages, and sadly just missing out every season..

Real ambition is shown in the transfer market, because really ambitious players with the will to succeed don't hang about in teams that seem happy to tread water in the third division, they move to clubs who have made decent signings allready and who are sending out the signals load and clear that, were having a go this year.... we didn't do that, so dont act too surprised we look average, we bought average..

.
Lots of sense on your overall post, but as for the quoted bit, that only holds over the shortest of timeframes. No other club punches so low below their own weight as us. That's just a cold hard fact.

It's this that brings about such frustration in our fan base.

I like the post overall, but you let Clough off too lightly. In the latter parts of games this team continually proves it's capable of much more.

Put a decent target man in the middle yesterday and JCRs crosses would have gone from ridiculous to sublime. There's plenty of talent being wasted through lack of end product, and a sad part is that everyone's crying out for us to go out and spend more when some of the answers are on the bench.

Aye yes, we were desperately unlucky to only lose 1-0 to the titans of South Yorkshire.

'Way above our weight?' Get a grip man, we're cruiser weights being out punched by welterweights.

Also, cloughs departure should it happen will only be cloughs decision, some of the fans are frustrated, not all of them..

We have seen what nigel clough can do when given the correct tools for the job, so hang fire till january, and expect the same class of players we got last year to push us over the line and remember were in a much better position as well..

I have pinned my hopes on the club spending big on loans in january and carrying out the same strategy as last season, sign brill players on loan, get up and the budget changes so they can be made permanent, should we fail we don't keep the burden of those players wages in another league one season as the return to their clubs...

We've got to keep the faith, even though I am so confused about this no striker thing, its doing my head in..

Alco, you're right, but I have got a soft spot for the bloke, I really don't think we backed him...

He is a name, like (brace myself here) robson was, so can attract class players, just the difference is nigel knows what to do with them once they pull a shirt on.

For the Blades , Mr Clough was in the right place at the right time for us . Mr Clough is bringing us stability , but a pattern is emerging. Mr Clough and Mr Clough brother , with the board , are bringing players in that is a gamble due to financial issues and being a league 1 side. Most of the gambles have in my opinion paid off. Mr Cloughs philosophy with players and how he treats them seems to depend on

Have they a poor attitude

Do they show enough in training

The player is not of the character he thought they were.

Mr Clough does have a strong character and has a intense requirement for loyalty . We supporters fit that bill 100%.

I am sure Mr Clough will have the finances in January ( although limited ) , but it is easy to see what we require.

The task , aim , agenda is promotion , anything less is deemed to be a failure , but we have to stick with Mr Clough and not chop and change every season or we will never get out of shit league 1.

quite right tezza, you get what you pay for,you only have to look at bristol titty, they have invested in quality and look to be running away with it at present, early days i know, and i also look at bournemouth fc as another example, early days also, but both teams look like they are giving it a go, sending out a message of intent, what do SUFC pre season do, announce major investment, prince on board etc etc then it all spirals into ............nothing !

Clough cut a lot of his ties with Forest fans when he said "I would swap all my goals for Forest for one win against them as Derby manager" I have a few Forest friends and they want him as far away from them as possible

I worry about this. its a similar to the gary speed situation as the opportunity to manage his national team was too big to pass up (and i understand that). Not sure if clough would do the same and i always think that any vacant manager position at forest will always be linked to nigel.

hope he stays around for a long time though to give the club some stability and so we can press on up the leagues
