It is a shambles! Chesterfield should have done what Bury did a few seasons ago, or at least give us two stands and have a sell out. Being a chesterfield native I had no problems and have one spare if anyone else is interested let me know.

Why should Chesterfield give us any more tickets? The game has sold out. It's not like there's going to be thousands of Blades that have bought tickets in the home end, it'll be a tiny amount.

You do know the game is a sell out?

Look, I'm a Chesterfield fan and some of the laughable comments on here prompted me to register.

Sheffield United are a much bigger club than us. I can deal with it. This is a derby of convenience - your rivals are in the higher division, ours are in a lower one.

Hopefully it's a good game tomorrow and everyone can go home generally happy.

I just think it would have been the more sensible option, and it would have reduced the number of people getting tickets blocked etc. I appreciate this number will be small but it would reduce the risk of any idiots causing any bother. According to these figures http://www.emfootball.co.uk/attend.html Chesterfield have an average crowd of 5746, We have an average of 19k. The ground holds just shy of 12k, with the close proximity to Sheffield surely we should have at least been allocated a larger stand as demand would be greater from united fans.

looking at the picture perhaps it should be renamed the Meccano Stadium

Crosstownrebel; that's the sort of post you'd expect from a Wednesday fan.

Hahaha you are probably right there buddy! The justification sounded alright in my head, oops better lay of the shandy. Hope it's a good game tomorrow. UTB

It's an absolute embarrassment for them, surely when a lot of Sheffield postcodes started signing up a week before we played 'em & ordering tickets for the home ends they must have suspected something?

Not too sure on the confidentiality issues but why not cross-map with SUFC as to what customers they had on their records beforehand who were attempting to purchase tickets for the home end?

On another note why not avoid the problem ever happening by doing what other clubs (ourselves included in the past) and make the deal whereby a person must attend the previous three home games to gain a ticket for Saturday?

Looking forward to the chants of "Bladesmen gi us a wave, Bladesmen Bladesmen gi us a wave"

The whole of the Chesterfield area has a Sheffield postcode and this is what makes segregation so difficult. Lots of Sheffield United fans live in Chesterfield, Dronfield, Inkersall, Holmesfield, Clowne, Coal Aston, Clay Cross, Bakewell etc and could quite easily be Chesterfield fans when it comes to buying online tickets as far as Chesterfield FC are concerned.

But selling the tickets to known United fans from our database and then taking those tickets out of circulation is theft as far as I'm concerned and they'll get more trouble than they can deal with tomorrow if they don't let these fans in after selling them tickets.
But that's just football for you, stop the trouble inside the stadium for image purposes and rain hell down on a town full of innocent pub landlords and other passers by. That doesn't seem to matter to football because disturbances away from the stadium wont be football related.

I don't understand this. I am a Blades member. I bought three tickets for the East Stand because I am going with two Chesterfield fans. Are they going to let them in and not me or are all three of us going to be turned away? Is it not possible that one person might follow two clubs? I haven't had an email but then again maybe CFC don't have my email address because I have changed it recently. Should I take my birth certificate to prove I was born in Chesterfield?

If there is a problem tomorrow I am going to be pissed off with both clubs; Chesterfield for waiting till the last day and United for sharing information without asking me for permission.

Unless you've bought tickets for this game online and provided an email address to be cross-referenced then there's no issue.

I should hope anyone having tickets blocked would be asking for a full refund and making a complain to both clubs, Chesterfield for not making it public that only home fans could buy tickets for areas in the ground not normally allocated to away fans, to take peoples money and then invalidate their tickets at such a late stage is disgraceful. As for Sheffield United it is a concern that they are apparently sharing customer data with other parties without our knowledge I don't ever remember telling the club they had my permission to do this. Maybe the club should study the Data protection Act 1998 to make sure they are complying breeches are viewed as very serious matters. A call to P&G would be in order if only to inform people that their details are being shared with other parties without their knowledge or consent.

It's like walking into a pub, paying for a pint and being told you can't drink it because you might be underage

Good luck to everyone today however and wherever you bought your tickets!
I just hope that this almighty fuck up by CFC doesn't impact on your day!

I don't see why this is a 'fuck up' by CFC. I think they have it bang on.

CFC would be the ones with the FA to deal with if things go wrong and they did nothing.

I would ask to speak to the Data Protection Officer at Bramall Lane to voice your concerns. See if they know who it is...

Foxy knows all about Data Protection control now :D

"There will be a 125th anniversary commemorative book displayed in the Legends of the Lane, identifying fans who have purchased season tickets this year and 125th pin badges."

Have they printed the commemorative book with all our names in it yet? ;)

SO ANNOYED!!! Planning on going to game with two of my best mates (they are Spireites). We booked 3 tickets together. They live in Sheffield and go to Chezzie games 5/6 times a season. Last night I found out my ticket had been cancelled. So spoke to them and their's had not. I have been to Chezzie games in the past, in the home end (even last season). After doing some thinking, I came to the conclusion that Sheffield United plc had given Chesterfield FC some of my personal details without my consent thus breaking the Data Protection Act of 1998. The worst thing is, I own stakes in the club!!!

But they're not worth very much ;)

It is because they waited until less than 24 hours before kick-off to tell us we could not buy tickets in the home end rather than before we bought them. That means there will be lots of empty seats tomorrow that should have been filled by honest football fans.

They also used our personal details and used them against us without our permission, once again breaking the Data Protection Act of 1998

How can you say that it's not?
As I said before, if Chesterfield FC had been smarter and not restricted away tickets to one area of their ground, they could have had a sell out crowd and all the profit which comes with a full house!
Instead of 'embracing' the extra away support and managing the situation they've created a problem.
Other clubs have managed it e.g. Palace (per my previous post) and it worked.
Funny thing is, nobody has even suggested that it's been done on 'Police advice' like the early kick-off, which is also a joke!

It doesn't need stating in advance that you aren't supposed to buy tickets in home areas as an away fan. You will always do so at your own risk as I myself have done.

The DPA issue will, should anyone take it to the IC, be laughed away.

You go on about a sellout, it is for goodness sake!

And how many of the tickets sold will be or have been rejected?

Could be a 'sell-out' but it won't be a full house!

In some ways I hope that the people affected by this ridiculous ticket blocking situation will complain about the mis-use of their personal information to make someone publically apologise at least!

But most of all I hope the Blades come away with 3 points :D

There was a simple solution from Chesterfield's point of view, in only selling to people with previous purchase history. United do it for big games.

Instead their lack of foresight and experience with these situations has been realised too late. I'd suspect there are/were well over 100 tickets sold to Blades in their end. I know more people in the east stand than the away end.

That wouldn't work as there's no general database for casual CFC purchasers. Those who are non-season tickets holders without a membership card are unknown to the club.

Thus proving the point of it being a tinpot set up then.

I live about 3 miles from The Proact and i've been to chesterfield games a few times. Am I a blade or a spireite? I wasn't aware that when you chose/inherited a football club that it prohibited you from sitting amongst fans of other clubs.

Is it not beyond comprehension that people just want to go to watch a football match? It's not 1980, nobody is launching an offensive to 'take' the east stand!
