There is definitely some outpouring of the small town syndrome on this thread, deary me. I thought Mansfield was the place to find Neanderthals and interbreeds seems like Chez vegas still has a few looking at this thread. Still it is the highlight of their season but I would have thought the main local rivals to Chesterfield were Mansfield maybe, that Chesterfield is just an annoying stop on the train from London for three passengers to get off at and that it is just another game with no real significance to us must be the reason for threebrownstripes anger. Oh well every village has it's idiot I suppose.

I live about 3 miles from The Proact and i've been to chesterfield games a few times. Am I a blade or a spireite? I wasn't aware that when you chose/inherited a football club that it prohibited you from sitting amongst fans of other clubs.

Is it not beyond comprehension that people just want to go to watch a football match? It's not 1980, nobody is launching an offensive to 'take' the east stand!
Chesterfield used to be my 2nd favourite team. I watched some of their home games in the early 1970s (I remember them winning the 4th division in 1969-70 as I watched their games against Lincoln, Bradford Park Avenue and Peterborough also the two exciting 3-2 defeats against Aston Villa in 1970 and 1971) some games throughout the 1980s and 1990s (of course when the Blades were playing away on the same day) and stopped watching them in 1999 as I got fed up of their fans hatred towards the Blades (even though I know they hate Wendy even more). It is Chesterfield's fault that their hatred towards Sheffield clubs have kept their home attendances lower than it could have been

It's like walking into a pub, paying for a pint and being told you can't drink it because you might be underage

Not really.

If you're underage you shouldn't be buying alcohol

The landlady or landlord should have checked if you were of legal age

Once discovered, the situation has to be rectified otherwise the landlady or landlord might lose their licence.

Presumably in this case there should be a refund and also the alcohol should be handed back.

But is it then too late?

Doooohhhhh, nurse :)

In our office of 120 people in Chesterfield the football fans from town are 2x Chelsea, 2x Liverpool 3x Man Utd and a few idiots who follow the dirties. Then a handfulof chezzy Owls and blades. Only 1 proper town fan. I can see why that would piss off the Chesterfield faithful but it will always be so when local clubs aren't successful. However, if it's right that CFC don't even keep a database of casual fans, the most basic of marketing tools, then you have to assume they're not doing as much as they could to swing the kids of town in their direction.

The DPA issue will, should anyone take it to the IC, be laughed away.
Can you elaborate on that?
If Sheffeild United are passing on every members details to other parties without permission they are in breech.
Additionally sell out infers they're getting the revenue for every seat.
Once all the refunds are processed there is going to be reduced revenue than if they'd given a better away allocation. Surprised they've decided to forgo that, given the normal sized home attendances.

Interesting this 'sell-out' isn't it and it will be very interesting to see what the annouced crowd actually is?

Proact Stadium capacity = 10,504
Highest attendance this season = 7,422 v Notts County (local derby????)
Ticket allocation to SUFC for today's game = 1,900

Watch this space ;)

Because Bob, I imagine that the police will have been involved under the flimsy auspices of 'public safety'. As football fans we are all scum to them and normal rules don't apply.

I worked in Chesterfield for 22 years between 1979 and 2001 (Chetwynd House and Rowland Hill House) and the number of Man U/Liverpool/L**ds fans outnumbered the CFC fans! Also there were many Blades fans and very few Wendy fans

I must admit, Silent, I don't quite follow the logic either, mate.
I am one of many fans who has stopped watching CFC matches as "their 2nd team" because of CFC's fans hatred towards the Sheffield clubs. The last straw was on the final day of the 1998/99 season (I was living in Old Whittington then), me and my mate a (CFC fan) went to the Old Whittington WMC (I was wearing a Blade shirt) hoping to watch Ipswich v Blades on SKY Sports, but got told that the club chose to have Wolves v Bradford, so on my way out of the club with my CFC mate to find a different pub, I got laughed at sneered at by a group of lads who I had not seen before (my mate told me he knew them as they are CFC fans), going into other pubs I got the same reaction as they wanted the Wolves v Bradford match and got laughed at etc. From that day Hibs are my only "2nd team".

BOSS, many Blades or even Wendy fans who I knew from working in Chesterfield or living in Old Whittington (for 6 years) have agreed with me that they stopped watching CFC for similar reasons as me

Loads of police and fans already knocking around the ground and local pubs. It's almost like it's a cup final ;)

Got you now Silent

Apparently a few Blades were 'identified' in the home end when they scored!!! :(

Also hearing there was some trouble pre-game and about 50 Blades refused entry!
