Injuries

United have also played a number of behind closed door games and been training throughout the break. I presume he picked something up during there. Still disappointing mind you.

Feels like a thing with the club over recent years that during an international break players who don't get a call up somehow get injured.

Or you could report the slightly fuller version!

"The on-loan Manchester City midfielder was left out after feeling tightness in his adductor, with Wilder opting not to take any risks"
(Expected back for Portsmouth game)
I skimmed read that and thought Phillips had been abducted and that's why he didn't play and Wilder was paying the ransom 😆

Disappointing about Seriki, but if he is still touch and go, best not to risk him. Choudury looked better at the weekend too, so let's hope that is the start of him finding some form.

Confirms in my mind my fear Choudhury has the RB spot for the next few games. Only when it goes pear shaped will we see Seriki back on a regular basis.
I was listening to the Pinch podcast that came out before the Bristol City game, and they mentioned as a way to deal with the RB situation something that actually happened in the Bristol City game out of necessity: the fullbacks at the end were McCallum and Burrows. Burrows went RB.

They made the point that wingers are always inverting, and both of these two like to get forward, so you have one inverted full back too.

It then occurred to me that Warnock would use Kozluk as LB cover if he had to. I always thought Kozzy did a good job in that role because he had to concentrate harder.

If Seriki is not fit to start, I think that starting McCallum at LB and Burrows at RB is a better use of our resources than using Hamza.

But you are right.
