I think this team and squad is set up not to get thrashed, lose games yes that’s inevitable we have very little creative flow but there’s nothing there’s no high scores I can see but being honest and fair with Wilder he’s never been a manager that has had that free flowing football perhaps he’s tapped into what the real United is. The best football we played was the over lapping centre backs because we weren’t so square I can’t see that happening for a long time if at all.

Brooks will be off for £25m in a year or two. To think we paid nearly the same amount we received for him on Mark bloody McGuinness.
Yep, he will go for a lot of money.

Regards McGuinness, though we have paid over for him I think at present he is doing a job and is what we need in this strange slanted squad. Steady, no thrills defender. I think his name makes him sound like a donkey more than out. Only seen him play in flesh once and I was shocked at how not shit he was.

Which 30+ year olds would that be? Or are 20+ year olds like Phillips somehow 30+?
Err Rothwell, Phillips, Doherty, Jairo (in 9 days time), even the ones who arent are close on to 30 Choudhury is 29 in a months time. They r either loans or have no resale value. The squad is degrading before our very eyes. Mainly due to the board but also due to us bringing in players who we cant develop and sell at a profit.

Not sure what the mid to long term plan is. End of season we will not have Choudhury, Phillips, Rothwell, Riedewald, McCallum, Bamford, Doherty, Donovan, Seriki (out of contract/end of loans) and then Tanganga, O Hare, Cooper, Peck, Burrows, Arblaster will only have a year left so by club policy all might be sold?

Ok though as we have long term deals for McGuiness, Chong, Cannon so the future is bright!

There is part of me that thinks we need to clean house snd start again as this group is going nowhere but the better players are leaving and we are stuck with the dross noone else wants so means we have to rely on our scouting and transfer recruitment to pick up some fresh and exciting talent to rejuvenate the side...

Yeah, about that 🫣

I dont think we have a mid to long term plan as who is making the plan? The CEO is an accountant and managers operate season to season and CW is doing what he thinks is best but thats bound to be short term as he needs results now. I dont want to go down the DoF argument but its clear that if we continue like this we are up the creek without a paddle

FML is Seriki really up in the summer? He’s our only other chance of getting a £20m sale to fund the club’s rebuild and avoid circling the drain to league 1. Brooks should’ve been another opportunity but our genius accountant CEO messed up the cash flow and we couldn’t afford to offer him a decent contract (but we could fund Wilder’s pointless January vanity signings).

Developing and selling the likes of Brooks and Seriki for big money is more important than our league position really now. We should not be sanctioning massive wages for the likes of Chaudry until Seriki has been tied down and given the wages he wants.

Can already see the way this is going but it’s infuriating we are so so stupidly run.

I was gutted when he left. Still am disappointed the board sold him but also he chose to leave as it was a fantastic offer financially. I doubt he regrets it but it's not looking the best move currently. He's a very good player mind and I'm sure he'll prove to be a success.

I’m shocked at Norwich, footballed us off the park ,good manager, decent style, some good players . Something not right.
Load of pressure on the manager and he seems to be blaming the 'young players' for being too gung ho and giving the ball away too much. He cant have long to turn it round after the money they spent

I'd back them to turn it around at some point. To what extent I dunno.

Will they get back to looking like top8 contenders or just mid table fodder?

Ah ok,I had not taken much notice,he’s the manager, his man management is not working by the sounds.

Brooks and Chong have both scored 12 goals in their careers, but Brooks has played about half as many games.

Danger is that we'll lose the other youngsters that require pay rises 😢.
Not sure that’s true. From what I hear from a few fans of other clubs is that a lot of clubs have gone for it this summer and infact hardly any are complying with the new SCR rules. So a lot of clubs have kicked that can down to next summer. So contrary to what our club are telling us these SCR rules thus season will have a bit of leeway for transition!! I think I heard the football heaven team / programme someone saying only 5 clubs in the EFL are fully compliant at the moment & we are one! . If you take that with the Football Regulators report last week - there is going to be a massive reset on wages coming to avoid clubs going bust. Whether our ‘early reset’ will help us in the future - who knows - but I doubt many clubs at Championship level will be able to beat us on salary ( aside from parachute teams)

All three of our attacking superstars we sold recently aren’t having the best of time from a football perspective. Norwich lost 6 on the bounce and in an amongst relegation fodder. O’Hare at a club in Wrexham that are having a similar up and down season albeit slightly worse and Hamer very much a “3rd best option” player who’s rotation at best. Aside from the money. Great moves for the lads.

Let's hope so... considering most recent seasons we have made a profit it's bizarre we are one of the few cutting our cloth further!

I take this season now after the disaster of a transfer window to be one of ghe books balanced and a put together squad to get us through this season, then all being well next season Wilder will be able to put together a squad of permanent signed players from Champ & Div1.

It seems the fan base is split on whether to blame the manager or the Director of Football, and it looks as if they’re not getting along. Brooks has been substituted in the last 2 games and on both occasions has gone straight down the tunnel. He seems not to be in a happy place.

It does seem odd after they did so well at the end of last season after Clement came in, and then they strengthened over the summer. Their fans seem to be of the view that too much money was spent on Brooks, leaving insufficient funds to strengthen in other, more critical areas. That places a lot of pressure on Brooks, particularly given his age.
