Be careful what you wish for, if we sack Wilder or he walks away, with these owners we could be in League 2 before we know it. l say let's just ride out this season and see what happens at the end of May. We could well have new owners by then. we all seem to disagree who to bring in next, so there is trouble from the start. so, us fans will be split whoever comes in. but eventually someone new will come in and we will either come good again or be even worse. but right now, I just think we all need to stick together and back what we have. just my thoughts.

His ability to manage the players and provide the correct tactics etc. is the reason why me and others have doubts about his ability to “ride out this season”.
Things have to change and I am note sure if he can admit his faults to do that

But very true if you use the example of Charlton under Alan Curbishley - 7 consecutive years in the Premier League - but fans fed up with mid table….. Curbishley left - relegated to League 1 within 3 seasons. Not been back since 2007!

Grass may be greener without Wilder but no one is sure who these owners would appoint next after the Selles fiasco!

Who did he lose? Brooks, Hamer and O’Hare.

Brooks went very early and he was replaced by Donovan quite quickly in fairness. I don’t think Donovan will contribute any less than Brooks did last season if afforded the same opportunity though he’s already being inexplicably left out, so they have that in common!

Hamer was always going. Anyone thinking or planning otherwise is a fool. So if he wanted to play 4-2-3-1 he needed to recruit a left sided player AND a number 10 alternative IF Gus was his no 10 alternative.

Instead we’ve ended up with no number 10, as Marsh has also been sent out (not saying he would have been first pick) but what we’ve got is 6 or 7 midfielders, most of which are defensive.

So, a right back, a defensive midfielder and with Gus going, a left sided player and a no 10 back up. Remember Gus would have been on almost 40k; not impossible to get two players for his wage alone.

We ended up with Doherty, Phillips, Riedewald, Choudhury and Brereton-Diaz.

So we still signed 5 players when we could have managed with 4. You could also, now he’s fit, have Chong as no 10 rather than pretending he’s an out and out winger.

That’s also notwithstanding Shackleton, another signing of Chris’, has been availble most matches.

You’d think Hamer, O’Hare and Brooks were sold in the last hour of the window. So let’s quash this narrative when it comes up.

Doesn’t mean you sack or don’t sack but I think it is fair to hold our recruitment process to a much higher bar rather than accept the notion of w roost a few players so the fact we ended up with a mixed bag of signings and no style of play was inevitable.

Think he went for what he believes is the ‘safe option’ with a bunch of ‘old pros’ to keep us in the league.

It might work…but it’s dire to watch and result suggest it’s in the balance atm.

We could end up with someone who has no style of play and recruits a load of duds, eh? 😉

The thing saving Chris is that we know he has shown he has a higher ceiling. He’s shown he can put a squad and team together and so far we probably believe his floor is not relegation.

But even as someone who likes Chris he’s had a poor season so far:

- Indistinguishable style of play; if we’re a passing team we have very low possession stats and high turnover ones. We play far too many long balls to a forward who prefers it to feet and if we’re a physical team why are we knackered after an hour?

- Poor recruitment; I was thinking of a more articulate word but ‘poor’ sums it up. I don’t blame him for being unable to offload some players, you need two hands to clap. But if you need a right back you get one who is fit and capable or you use what you have. Shackleton, Sachdev, Curtis, Giggs, Colechin, all on the books. They are in no worse position than Doherty who seems a regrettable signing already or Choudhury who’s first few performances at right back can be best described as the winger having him “on toast”. So for all comments of young lads not being ready it was like watching Mark Duffy against Van Aken but for 90 minutes!

- Stubbornness; 4-4-2 didnt suit these players. Stating that we won a few worh this formation really ignores the performance. Had we lost 5-2 against Cardiff City, the stats would have supported this. Had we lost 3-2 instead of winning 3-2 v Bolton Wanderers who would have seen an injustice? I watched the 2-1 away game from the discomfort of my living room in Manila in the early hours and the scoreline at half time was nothing short of robbery. So he stuck with this for too long, he’s recruited and stuck with Choudhury at right back who has has a nightmare there. He’s got a lot of self evaluation to do and he’s getting a pretty soft ride really.

- Results; rightly we binned Sellés off. But the comparison of “we’ve got 9 points”, knowing the lowest bar ever was available as a comparator, falls a bit flat when you have to repeat it three consecutive press conferences! We haven’t scored from open play in 7 consecutive halves or football. We have a top half wage budget and playing well seems to amount to hanging on in games or not being troubled rather than having the opposition under the coach for sustained periods.

This has to be a total rethink and almost a mini pre-season now. I’d say Chris has eaten into the credit he has with the fans. Time to repay that patience, one that would not have been afforded to others.

He’s designed no options other than the above , especially with his current fearful and paranoid mindset .

The lack of leadership has bolloxed us to be sure but what CW has done with recruiting has boxed us into a corner .

I thought that the playoffs could be a possibility, now I am worried about relegation . We truly are a mish mash of similar absolutely mediocre tired players . Due to age and fitness.

When Wilder said that there are some tired players in there , I was up in arms and couldn’t believe that statement after 5 games . I do believe him - fully - you’ve massively contributed to this mess Chris - there is no doubt in my mind his time is up and the whole sorry club is treading water at best .

It needs action - addressing- and soon

Do I know or suggest who can replace him ? Not without doing some searching.
(1) needs the ability to work under a tight budget.
(2) needs to have experience in developing good young players and willing to have confidence in them to take the step up.
(3) has the patience to change the way we play steadily selles and slava both tried to change it overnight and it didn't work , hecky at least understood this .
The opportunity next time has to be a DOF and a first team coach.

O'Hare was sold on deadline day, so pretty near the last hour. No loan to replace him. We've been told his replacement is already here, Arblaster? Peck? Chongy? We've yet to see so maybe Wilder is working on it in the break? Losing Brooks was a shock and perhaps the club anticipated selling Peck for around £15 million, plus the expected sale of Gus to be enough to cover losses. Again I'm back to the conundrum of recruiting players to fit a system or a system to fit the players we now have. Regardless of what Wilder wants to play, we need legs, stamina, strength in midfield. The fans can see it game after game.
