We get to name 9 substitutes. Surely we could find space to include a couple of the better up and coming players from the under 21 squad without leaving ourselves exposed. Just take a look at our bench on Saturday and it is a pretty depressing read. Of the 9 only Donavon and at a push possibly Cannon could be classed as players who are an an upward career trajectory. Of the rest nearly all are past their prime and on a downward path and unlikely (hopefully) to be with us in 12 months time. Personally I would rather see the likes of Marsh who have the potential to improve and develop rather than waste money on the likes of Ayew, Rothwell, Shackleton etc.

absolutely spot on but wilder seems reluctant to blood 2/3 under 21s even if its only on the bench hes obsessed with over 30s players which in proportion isnt a bad thing but hes gone too far down that road resulting in us having no pace at all in the team

Admittedly I've only ever seen Marsh play in the daft cup games... but... at 22yo, id say there's probably a reason he's never played at a higher level than League 2.

For comparison, Tom Cannon was a full international at 21.

Osula is anything but a 'technical footballer' he's a genetic freak who is fast as fuck and physical as they come, the football has been coached into him but he couldn't trap a bag of cement even now

Nah, Osula was helped by phsical gifts. Just like Jebbo. Marsh is going to have to rely on ability, just like David Brooks did. I don't think he's on the same trajectory as Brooks, but technically he's one of the best we have produced in a long time.

Too old, not fit enough, has never scored enough goals. Can’t see him ever starting, if he does, he’ll be hooked pretty sharpish, doubt he would ever manage a full half of football.
If he’s just coming on to play cameos then he’s a complete waste of a wage and squad place.
Talking if sharpish - if you’re wanting experience in your team, now he would’ve been a better option than Ayew.

There are some technically gifted footballers who , for some reason or another dont quite make it.
Players who make it have to be winners , in the sence they have some devilment about them , aggression, that bit of something that allows them to impose themselves. Some do that without the physique of others.

Its a big year for Marsh to show along with talent he's got that something .

I hope he proves he has and looks every bit a championship player ..

I love seeing players where their ceiling could be anything. Im bored of seeing players well past their peak. Yeah loads of players dont make it, but some become all time leading goalscorers (Sharp) some England Internationals (DCL) some end up at the worlds best club (Ndiaye) some the biggest club (Maguire) and some become the best of their generation in that position (Walker).

Just another goal for Marsh yesterday in a loan spell that's doing his confidence the world of good, while we're paying an OAP 20 odd k a week to come off the bench, not be a goal threat and tire after 3 minutes.

Marsh is, by a distance, the most technically gifted attacker we've brought through the youth setup bar the obvious superstar at Man City. Bags of energy, bags of talent and despite being slight he finds pockets of space allover the pitch.

Ayew is 35, coming off the back of 2 relegations, has never scored double figures in his career, and put into an unfit, slow and lethargic team with no energy is the complete antithesis of what we need in the team right now.

Wilder's talk of 'needing experience' as a reason for signing Ayew just makes absolutely no sense to me and is a huge reason why I think he's done for. All he's signed is experienced past it has beens or never beens, the young players we have ARE experienced. The only one that isn't is on loan from Brentford and happens to be our best player

He doesn't like bringing youth through, he doesn't trust them. But if Marsh leaves the club without having a proper run in the team or chance to prove himself it would be the biggest damning indictment on both the manager and coaching staff yet. He has everything you'd want from a deep lying forward/number 10 at this level. He's basically a young Bamford, and it's crazy that we haven't just had him as his understudy for the season...
