Taking that, I don't think it's as bad as I first expected, having read other people's reactions:

1. He takes responsibility for the balls up v Fleetwood, head on.
2. He is clearly disappointed that players who have been seeking more gametime didn't impose themselves on the game more against...checks notes...league two opposition. Fair. He then goes to name those players head on, and I don't know about others, but I kinda rate that. Its transparency, I want more from you. The slight nuance that he will know better than us is whether that's the style to use with Campbell, Rothwell and Jairo and whether they will each in turn respond to that.
3. He is right that recruitment was slow and limited to options who haven't been playing elsewhere and so aren't up to speed, and face the risk of knocks, fatigue. It's shit, but it's what we have.
4. Pitching fan questions is a good take, for me. Like that. And he tries to field them. Doesn't shirk any that, I would expect him to and have seen him shirk similar in the past. But, his job is to motivate. I know he's taking the questions on at face value as he's been asked, but it's also just job to inject some positive energy into a squad that's a bit hit and miss at the moment.

Then we will get to January and nothing will happen. All he is doing is kicking the can down the road and hoping for more time with us fans. He can also take this “culture” stuff with him when he goes, it doesn’t work in this day and age.

I looked over Everton's transfer history whist Moyes was first at the club (14/03/2002 - 30/06/2013). By my count, they made 79 total signings across that period (purchases, loans and frees). Of those, I have 26 individuals who are both not of UK/ROI nationality, and not signed from the regions referenced by CW today:

26 of 79 equates to 32.91% of transfers Moyes made at Everton, being outside of Wilder's apparently preferred target market.

In comparison, I took a sample for United, from the first season in the PL under Wilder - 2019/20 (seemed a reasonable starting point as an initial instance of becoming more appealing to foreign markets) to present. That's 7 full seasons, plus the current campaign.

Discounting them gives us 11 of 92 signings, or 11.96%. Alternatively, if we discard those 8 players entirely, gives us 11 of 84 signings, or 13.10%.

There's a number of alternative ways to consider this. For example, if we omit the seasons and signings not made during Wilder's tenure within the same timeframe, we have 53 total signings, 4 of which being made from outside of Wilder's preferred locales. That's just 7.55%.

It's extremely funny that Wilder chose to use David Moyes as an example of his desired approach to transfers, once you actually look at the data available. Everton may not have been to the extent of Wenger's Arsenal back in the day, being able to field an entire team of non-Brits, but they were significantly more progressive than we have been.

I liked a lot of what I heard from Wilder until that last part at the very end where he's as clear as he's ever been that he doesn't want foreign players and prefers British players who "work hard."

Saying David Moyes was successful by signing Phil Jagielka and other British players from the Championship is a bit worrying to say the least. That was 20 years ago!

This is my point exactly … this type of small minded thinking that will hold this club back for decades….

We want players with a great metrically and work ethic yes but who cares where they are from ????

He also got defensive with the XG stats and harped on about last season ?? It’s now this season??

Rest of it was pretty good

But end of last season he was telling us all he would get it right and knew the type we wanted to bring… now he’s brought them in and he’s thrown them under the bus
