Yes. I had to get it via a very circuitous route - in the end I'm not sure what I did. Don't think it's the easiest website to negotiate at the best of times
 
Did not like that presser at all.

He spoke calmly and honestly. But it is the answers to some key questions I find worrying and baffling;

- When asked about 4-4-2 he basically brushed it off, saying hindsight is great, whatever system we play will be criticised, but it's a system that has got results and not something that contributed to the defeat. Mind blowing.

- BBD and Choudhary will be guaranteed starters Saturday. Not sure what BBD has find to warrant he position as a nailed starter in the squad

Really really deflating.

As far as I could tell, he apologised for the performance but not for slinking off down the tunnel. He said that sometimes he clears off straight down the tunnel, sometimes he doesn't - it doesn't depend on the result. Personally, from my own observations, he doesn't rush off when we win!

He pointed out that the system worked well in previous cup rounds. Whatever system is used by any manager it can only be successful if the players perform as they should.
 
Tough press conference, where he was asked tough questions with some strong inferences being made from the interviewer.

Credit were it’s due, thought he handled the questions and himself impeccably.
 



I liked a lot of what I heard from Wilder until that last part at the very end where he's as clear as he's ever been that he doesn't want foreign players and prefers British players who "work hard."

Saying David Moyes was successful by signing Phil Jagielka and other British players from the Championship is a bit worrying to say the least. That was 20 years ago!

If he was manager in 21/22, N'diaye would have been shipped out to Barnsley and he'd have got John Swift in as a replacement

Always interesting how opinions and perceptions can differ so much on the same things, I thought that he was very defensive at certain stages. Hope we see that same bite in the players tomorrow.

Yeah, actually thought it was a decent press conference but that last bit was concerning if we are letting him manage the rebuild

A lot to unpack in that one and fair play to Rob Staton, a bit more probing than the usual.

Interesting right at the end ..

Is there a possibility that when you get to January this club could be in a a different position maybe financially to do stuff?

One hundred percent - sometimes you have to do something on short term basis - can't keep selling players can ya cause you're not gonna have anything left . So the owners understand that there's gonna be a time where we have to start investing in players.

Said this to the owners , I don't like people thinking it, I'm never against signing players from from abroad.I just think this culture, this football club, is an Everton under David Moyes. When he signed top championship players for the Premier League signed Jags, he signed Tim Cahill he signed all those other players that pushed them towards the position where they were comfortable in the Premier League .

For me, always understanding the culture, British-based players ideally out of League One and maybe out of League Two and out of Scotland or Scandinavia that have got that mentality, that work ethic that suits us suits me.. or maybe suits the next manager, which I think that there might be a few at the moment would rather be coming in pretty quickly, quicker than maybe it might happen.

Just feels like moving the goalposts again on when we can expect to see progress & shifting the onus onto the board again.

Last season it was ‘give me January’ when we brought in Rothwell, Phillips, Hoever & Hjelde who made zero impression. Then it was ‘give me a pre-season’ to whip them into shape, surprise surprise it’s mid-September and we’re in terrible shape and moaning about fatigue already. Now it’s ’give me the international break’ and those performances will suddenly dramatically improve. And now he’s lining up the next one of ‘give me (another) January’ and we’ll make good signings this time if the board let me, promise.

He’s talking himself up and the club/squad down regularly to make it seem like he’s got the hardest job in the division and has the plan to turn us around. And currently I think the board are buying it because of the Selles fiasco and probably their own lack of interest.
 



Whoever the new boss is and whenever that happens, the first thing is to rip up the 'culture' and British players policy and drag us into the real world.

That's a Wilder culture and not fit for the future of any club wanting success today.

How many of his current choices, British lads, are letting him and us down, this and last season?
