What’s sad is that we are AGAIN in the same position as last year hoping that we can survive the season, write it off and go again next season. How many more bad pre seasons and really awful transfer windows can we sustain? We could’ve had an overhaul this summer, but we’ve somehow ended up with the same squad as last year minus 3 players… The owners don’t give a fuck but even still, they are paying big wages to has beens and journeymen. It all needs a massive makeover because for me it’s all going one way and that’s down. Forget the league position, it’s false, we’re crap and we’ll carry on being crap if we don’t make a change. Prime example is when Seriki was injured before the TW shut and we obvs needed a RB did he go out and get a RB? No he brought in Choudary on big wages who isn't a RB and then proceeded to play him out of position.

Is anyone seriously going to say there wasn't a single genuine RB that we could have got with the reported £30/40k a week wages we are paying Hamza?

One thing for sure is it's pointless just getting rid of Wilder and leaving Bettis, Hoyland and the rest in place. The whole 'front office' needs clearing out, lock stock and barrel. I feel sorry for you lot with season tickets. Christ.

Yeah I'm not looking for an argument mate, and this isn't aimed at you at all, but the whole he's been dealt a shit hand is way off the mark IMHO.

That's just 1 example of this summer.

I could go into all the others but I'm sure you get the point .

But we'd already signed a backup RB. More to the point we signed the wrong backup RB, another slow, aging player.
We then lost Femi for a few weeks (not months) and couldn't trust Doherty or anyone else in the squad to cover
We're then scrambling around to bring in yet another RB, but finish up signing another slow midfielder.
That in a nutshell is what's wrong with the Manager and club.

Hard to disagree with much of this. I guess the problem is, would we appoint anyone that had a clue, let alone enough people to do all the various jobs?

I'm sure all fans would rather see us playing 3 or 4 academy graduates each week, than injury prone over-the-hill players. Though... Academy players obviously aren't going to magically fix the overall team failings.

I do find it odd that we, at no point now, or really in his history, has he signed quick players. We've had a few, Mousset being one, but he wasn't able to play more than 45 minutes.

And the 4‑4‑2 feels bizarre with the squad we’ve got. You can see us getting stretched constantly because the system doesn’t suit the profiles of the players. It’s like we’re trying to force a shape that doesn’t match the tools we’ve actually got.

I like Wilder & have a lot of respect for what he's done but he's possibly starting to hold the club back

I do not blame Wilder for the sales of Brooks, Hamer and O'Hare. I am sure that happened above his head (although evidence suggests he could have man managed Brooks better).

But signing Hamza, Philips, and Riedeweld (again) when you already have Peck, Arblaster, Rothwell and Shackleton on the books is a very poor use of resources.

Ditto BBD and Doherty, whose decline is obvious.

This is a problem that we had during Clough and Blackwell. Signing players without thinking about what the squad needs.

Football has moved on at a ridiculous pace since Covid. Wilder is going backwards.

Any apologists saying that he’s had his hands tied…nobody forced him to spend a huge amount of wages on Choudhury, Brereton Díaz and Rothwell. We could have been so much smarter with that investment.
