Good points and well made

Other clubs do it as you say .

I’m not anti CW but the excuse of tired players yesterday really pissed me off .

I’m tired - I’m 65 , been working my nuts off since I was 16 ( as have many fellow Blades ) - if I’d have walked into see my boss saying I’m tired , or said same to my customers when I set up my own business , or said same to my wife and kids when things got tough - guess what would have happened .

Tell you , that’s nearing the bottom of the barrel for me .

Rant over

Back to bed because I’m -

FFS Chris - get a grip
Back to bed because I'm -

On Redtube / on Grinder ...

That's my excuse anyway

Wilder is pants but he hasn't quite declined to the point where he's gone full Adkins yet.

The football is crap, the squad has been dismantled and the remaining players don't look fit, good enough or interested.

But I still think we'll get enough points to keep us away from the bottom three this season.

I think the point SBSP is making is that, even if we do get enough points to stay up, which is far from guaranteed, watching us just isn’t fun anymore. I’ve got a season ticket and went on Saturday in the end, but find myself looking for the most feeble excuses not to go. Wilder’s “football” has made it so that going to the match isn’t as enjoyable as it should be.

I get that but I'd still rather watch this dross in the Championship than us potentially playing Stevenage off the park in League One.

I don't want us to play in that league ever again.

Not forgetting that Wednesday will probably be challenging for promotion this season and we might have to pass them on the way down.

Nah, fuck that.

This I do get, particularly the pigs passing us, that would be a difficult pill to swallow. There are arguments for both, I’d like to be entertained again and actually look forward to going to the match, but don’t want us to have to be relegated for that to be the case.

If Wilder could somehow rediscover his spark from his first term here, happy days, but I think there’s too much time passed and he’s lost everything that made him good at what he did. The club needs a refresh.

Both of them can be true.

I’d like to see people name potential names who might be available and be able to turn things around, rather than shouting for the managers head and being unable to name potential replacements who would be better than Wilder for our current situation. Who knows I might see a name and think he might be good for us and be able to get on board with it.

There will be someone better within the football world to take us forward and reshape us a club, Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford all seem to be able to manage it when their managers leave in an upwards move, as it’s clear they have a bit of succession planning. Do you have confidence in the current powers that be at Bramall Lane to be able to do that.

The last two times we sacked Wilder, we ended up with Jokanovic who was dreadful and we owed a lot to Hecky who righted that particular fuck up, and then the second we dropped on Selles who knocked us back 5-10 years in the space of 3 months
Slav was thrown under a bus- he took the job on the assurance he would be supported in recruitment so he could lay down the foundations for his preferred playing style and what happened he got nothing just empty promises. Hecky returned to Wilder ball and things changed back to before.
If Slav he had been backed pre season as he was promised he would have had us playing a fast expansive game and could have changed the irritating culture at this club.
Selles was just a pathetic move by the owners

When you look at clubs like Hull, Sunderland, Southampton or Middlesbrough. They all have one thing in common. They've all been on the upswing since they hired a young European manager with fresh ideas.
A manager can be an absolute difference maker for a club and Wilder just isn't that manager anymore.

Which is nice thinking in theory but in reality he's had two jobs in Russia and UAE since he left us and both have lasted a season or less..

We could, but I genuinely don't think this is the best we can muster. It's prehistoric football and a recruitment process from the same era.
Don’t disagree - just seen so much rubbish before and have zero confidence in owners so though I agree with you in large part I suspect the outcome would be worse than we have now. We’ll get to the point of no return by November I suspect though. Just not very positive about how the next few years will pan out. Sorry to be negative.

Sorry, but this and the whole “give me other names” take is simply ludicrous. How would we as a fan base have any steer on a list of names or their availability, to an extent to be in a position of offering the job?

If you have a shit member of staff at work, you fire them, then hire a replacement. You don’t go, well I assume there’s no one else able to do this job so let’s just stick as is and see if the decline somehow rights itself.

I had the same argument with a blade on the train en route to Derby away last season and it’s a poor excuse. This is what teams do, whether it works out or not is a different debate, but why would they continue with an option that is repeatedly proving to not be working.

CW is becoming so divisive, and making fans blind to the issues through his so called “pashun” and “getting the club”, but again like last season we’ve just been embarrassed by an average team at home, much like last season, and save the heroics of a loan player and keeper, would’ve been the same against Bolton, newly promoted, at home.

Yes, he’s had players sold, and some would argue the backing is minimal, but so what? Managers have these kind of situations all the time, that’s the point of being the manager. Need more staff? Sorry, we’ve no budget right now. Need certain tools? Sorry, our supplier is delayed.

Make do for now and work with what you’ve got.

Instead we’ve got a man at the heart of everything, getting nothing out of his players and dividing the fan base. The performances are shit, the attendances are dropping and we have a board backing him to deliver stability only ffs. All these pro-wilder points about his man management and budget squad building are a thing of the past, bouncing day for instance was 10 years ago now…

More results like yesterday and we’ll be in the shit quicker than you can say “he’s one of our own”.
And the better run clubs already have scouted and know who they want to replace whoever the current incumbent is. We can only dream of such forward thinking at our club.

That first CW team would smash this lot to bits every day and twice on Sunday without a problem.

We haven't seen that mark of a 'proper Sheffield united performance' that he used to reference in years.

Chris's heyday. This is now painful to watch

The problem is the when the owners sacked Wilder after the Play Off final it was a fucking disaster by recruiting the wrong manager as has been said ad infinitum on here
I therefore think they will be extremely reluctant to pull the trigger again. Im of the opinion as long as Wilder can keep us clear of relegation we will have to write this season off. I do wonder if another manager could fashion a team out of this totally imbalanced squad of unfit players
The owners really do need to be looking at and planning ahead to implement a complete overhaul of the management and recruitment process identifying personnel now to get something in place for next season

Another manager might not waste the large wages on a squad of older unfit players.

Recruitment is dog shit and wilder is a key cog in that process.
