It only really works when we have Callum harassing the defence behind a Bamford or Moore type.
We don’t even have a back up for him at the moment really.
So what does that leave us? I’m going to assume we get another centre back. For now let’s say Kiching, as he’s the latest name. I’m going to discount Seriki for now also.
4-3-3:
Cooper
(Davies)
Choudhury Tanganga Kiching McCallum
(Doherty) (Baptiste) (McGuinness) (RND)
Peck Phillips Rothwell
(Arblaster) (Riedewald) (Burrows)
Donovan Bamford Brereton-Diaz
(Chong) (Cannon) (Oné)
+ Campbell, Shackleton.
4-4-2:
Cooper
(Davies)
Choudhury Tanganga Kiching McCallum
(Doherty) (Baptiste)(McGuinness) (Burrows)
Donovan Peck Phillips Brereton-Diaz
(Chong) (Arblaster) (Riedewald) (Rothwell)
Bamford Cannon
(Oné) (Campbell)
+ RND, Shackleton
3-5-2:
Cooper
(Davies)
Tanganga Kiching McCallum
(Doherty) (McGuinness) (Baptiste)
Hamza Peck Phillips Arblaster Burrows
(Donovan) (Chong)(Riedewald)(Roth) (RND)
Bamford Brereton-Diaz
(Oné) (Cannon)
+ Shackleton, Campbell
3-4-3:
Cooper
(Davies)
Tanganga Kiching McCallum
(Doherty) (McGuinness) (Baptiste)
Hamza Peck Phillips Burrows
(Shack) (Arblaster) (Riedewald) (RND)
Donovan Bamford Brereton-Diaz
(Chong) (Cannon) (Oné)
+ Rothwell, Campbell
Just for me, as much as I don’t mind 3-5-2 it seems luckin if you don’t have Seriki and I don’t like to rely on Shackleton at all. You could possibly level the same criticism at 3-4-3.
I’m not against 4-3-3 as a solution, asking Peck and Arblaster to push on though I don’t mid the idea of Burrows left of a three man midfield. It does mean we sit Cannon out and that one of your expensive assets benched. I’d probably go with this nonetheless. It still allows BBD and Donovan to do what they’re supposed to and it gets Burrows in the team potentially.
I can however imagine 4-4-2 will win out. But away I can also see a very defensive 5 at the back as we did in.
Thoughts? Considerations? Unless of course we get another 10 in, but it’s late.
