When he played in midfield he did my head in, he played so deep he was basically a centre half and left a gaping hole in the midfield, he then got switched to right back and i think he did s great job there, also its a bit of cover at centre back, so im ok with him signing

Same here, assuming the money is sensible.

He’s a proper physical player. Playing right back in the playoff final he was superb. And I remember him coming on to help us see out a game against PNE, and he brutally shutdown their midfield.

Obvious caveats apply. The fact he won’t create is a squad issue, not on him.

Didn't see anyone answer this already. Unless rules have changed and I didn't notice, we can have as many people on loan as we like, but there's a cap on how many loanees can be named in a match day squad (4 or 5 - i forget which).

Hamza is a fine Championship player, but considering what we've already got, he's exactly what we don't need at the moment. And signing him makes me thoroughly confused as to how we intend to play going forward.

Are we going to go 3-5-2, and play Rothwell/Peck as a #10 behind the strikers? Or is Choudhury coming in to shore up the RB spot, and we'll be a 4-3-3 with BBD and Donovan as our only wingers? Any possible tactic I can come up with seems illogical with the players we have available to us.

Unless we're scheming to get some serious offensive talent in before the window shuts, this is going to be a very attritional season.

I don't mind Choudhury he covers two positions, the trouble is we already have 3 who can play RB and 3or 4 that are defensive midfielders. Makes me wonder why we loaned Doherty and why Wilder said Shackleton had a part to play, unless Seriki is on his way. Also, I'm wondering why we hung on to Rothwell why we resigned Jairo, why we loaned Phillips, unless Peck is on his way too, that wouldn't bother me too much, but we should hang on to Seriki. All the more baffling when we need some creativity in our midfield.

Seriki got injured against Blackburn (rumoured to be out for a while) and Docherty likely isn't fit enough to do a 2/3 game week as a starter.

As such, Choudhury will be 1st choice RB going forward, at least until Seriki is back.

Rothwell is under contract until next summer as he only signed an 18 month deal (same for Bamford), I think we re-signed Jairo (on reduced wages I bet) because we couldn't get Phillips at the time but something changed in that deal as he's here now.

If Choudhury was signed to replace Seriki, then surely it makes sense to sign an attacking RB/RWB e.g. a player that has similar qualities to Seriki.

The signing just doesn’t seem needed especially if we’re picking up his huge Leicester wages. When everyone’s fit, Choudhury will be 3rd choice RB and with the depth available at defensive midfield he could be down the pecking order there as well.

I’m just struggling to understand this signing when he’s not the type of player or position we need to be investing money in.
