Player Suggestion Hamza Choudhury

Oh yippee we are signing yet another defensive midfielder formally of this parish to play out of position. I don't dislike Hamza, and he did alright in the 92 points season but this is just another example of how tired and stagnant this club has become.
He either can play or he can't ,don't get bogged down with the fact he's played for us before .

no probably not now bbd has arrived probably just a centre back and choudray but i would love us to bring cleary in from barnsley
So would I, if only to piss off the natives round where I live. Be a big fee though, which we don’t seem to have

As in Hamza is currently reportedly on 50k per week, and it would be unlikely he'd take a 50% wage cut to come to us unless Leicester forgo a transfer fee for him so we can afford to pay close to his current wage. Strategically a loan move would probably suit him best so he doesn't loose out on his current big money contract

Or in theory, he and United could be open to a decent wedge going his way as a signing on fee (instead of a transfer fee to Leicester), and that pymt based on the fact that his wages are then going to be reduced drastically over say a 3 year deal. For example, he might be on 50k a week for another 12 months at Leicester not getting picked as LCFC want him gone cos they are financially fecked. Total wages due = £2.6m. Or United pay him £600k signing on fee, and then 156 (3 year deal) x 15k a week = £2.34m, plus the £600k signing on fee equals a contract package worth nearly £3m. He get to play on a contract probably laden with performance bonuses, and hes at a club that wants him, and he's still quids in, despite 'dropping' his weekly wage substantially. All figures pie in the sky, but you get the drift. Usually different ways to make a financial package work, if all the parties want it happen.

Every time the boy played central midfield, he basically completely neglected the entire midfield area and played centre half. I hope to god he’s being brought in as a right back… where I feel like we’re pretty well stocked at present?

Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Excellent. So rather than pay an expensive wage for one season, our master negotiators are going to pay a bit less this season, but lumber us with him for 2-3 years. A player who currently can’t get into a struggling league one side, and who plays in a position we’ve already overstocked in. What a fucking mess.
“overstocked” ? Without Seriki we don’t have any viable alternative. There may be others who can fill in, but that takes us nowhere.

We are not over-stocked at right back. We have Shackleton or Docherty or Curtis. Unless we move a player out of position. That didn't work yesterday.
Curtis is not ready, may never be ready for this level. Shackleton is not reliable injury wise and maybe not good enough (we haven't seen him so can't really judge) and Docherty cannot play 90 mins..
So this signing is essential.
Given our financial state, would I prefer a younger prem right back on loan? Maybe, depending on who it is.
I think going with what we know for the next few months is absolutely the right thing to do.
January might be a different scenario where we can re-visit this position if we need to.

Doesn't make sense bringing him in at all.

1) hes not a right back
2) we have numerous defensive midfielders
3) hes on very big wages
4) there's no resale value

The Bangladeshi arrives back at Bramall Lane and looks set to be an immediate first-team option at right-back, coming in to replace Femi Seriki for the as-yet-unknown duration of his knee injury.
However, he will have a big role to play once the 24-year-old finally comes back to full fitness, as he can be a capable option to play in midfield, something they will need further down the line once Kalvin Phillips’ loan spell expires at the end of the season.

With the ball, you're right. He came way too deep and it left large spaces.

Without the ball, he covered a lot of ground and broke the play up nicely.

If the working assumption is that one of Philips,Jairo, Doherty, Seriki or Shackleton will be unavailable at any one time, Choudhury is a very safe bet.

No I know, which no doubt will have been complicated more so by having him carry on playing for 10 minutes when he was clearly injured. Our medical department really are beyond amateur

Was it the “medical department” who kept him on the pitch for 10 minutes?

Or was it the manager?

So, assuming this deal does go through, and it's not just Leicester fans stirring up bullocks like they did around Souttar, then our transfer activity this summer is:

  • Signed Doherty
  • Loaned Donovan
  • Brought back Phillips, BBD, Choudhury

Plus "re-signing" Riedewald, which was just to be able to do the deal on reduced terms.

If our strategy is primarily to sign players who've already played for us, as it seemingly is at this point, which striker will we end up signing? Richairo Zivkovic?

We have to be careful with final squad size.

I’m going to work on the following moving soon enough:

Grbic
Curtis
Zatterstrom
Blacker
Ukaki
Marsh

We have to name 25 players and those u21.

G: Cooper, Davies (2x 21+)

D: Seriki, Choudhury, Doherty, Shackleton, Tanganga, McGuinness, Baptiste, Worrall(?), McCallum, Burrows, Norrington-Davies (11x 21+)

M: Peck, Rothwell, Arblaster, Phillips, Riedewald (4x 21+)

F: Donovan, Chong, Brereton-Diaz, Oné, O’Hare, Bamford, Cannon, Campbell (6x 21+)

So at present we have 23 players over 21. If the ruling is only those under 21 don’t count then Peck takes us up to 24. Currently Donovan at 19 and Oné at 20 are the ones keeping us below the so I suppose you could squeeze one more but then come January you need to move players out if you want to bring in.

As far as I’m aware academy players over 21 don’t count towards this limit as they’re homegrown at the club.

I must be the only one happy with this ..

I like him in the loan spell last time

He can cover three positions

We are short at RB now Femi is out for a long period

He can fill in at CB and midfield when needed

I thought he had an excellent attitude

I would like to see some pace brought in to the team now though and someone able to take a player on

25 is a maximum, not an obligation.
We could name 20 and then use youth players.

Im happy with the signing, I don't see any negatives with bringing him in.

The creative players will come before the close of the window.
