I see your tin foil hat and raise a tin foil sombrero;
I have a theory that Mark McGuinness defines our season.
Scenario 1- McGuinness plays well, we dont need a CB as much as we thought, we strengthen other positions making us a better football team and do fairly well this season
Scenario 2- McGuinness is sold/moved on, we bring in a replacement CB who forms a solid pairing with Tanganga and we do quite well
Scenario 3- finances demand we keep hold of McGuinness, have to play him every week because we've only got baptiste on the bench to replace him, our defensively solid start so far deteriorates and it's all a bit 'nail bitey' come the end of the season.
Scenario 4- We bring someone in, McGuinness plays well on the few occasions he plays
Scenario 5- all goes pear-shaped, decent championship centre forwards pull him to bits and it's a relegation dog fight regardless of any points deductions
who knows... i could also be talking bollocks
Tin foil hat time but it's possible CW saying McGuinness didn't have a future here was the target McGuinness needed to up his game. Could have been a man management master stroke.
Or I'm talking bollocks of course.
