What has Donovan done wrong?

[Tom Bott]

Why are we paying for his loan if he isn't in wilders plans? Yet further waste of limited funds and piss poor recruitment.

So it was wrong of the recruitment team to bring him in then?

In the same way that we should not have brought in Choudhury, though when we lost Seriki to injury we may been embarrassed at right back, with no back up.

If we constantly play Donovan and Brentford recall him in January, then we are left reliant on Chong without match practice.

Doherty was supposed to be Seriki’s back up. Tanganga can play there as well.

I'm not sure I understand the logic, if we play Donovan and he's established in the team and helps us to win games that's detrimental to Chongs game time? Other than the fact perhaps Donavon wouldn't replace Chong (lesser of 2 evils with BDD) it's likely Brentford will recall him because he can't get game time.

You're suggesting we don't play a good player as he's on loan and not ours which questions why bother with loans at all?

If Donovan starts on Friday I predict that this thread will be overrun with certain people wanting to point out every single thing he does wrong during the game as justification for why Wilder hasn’t been starting him.

The same people who would help Wilder bury the body in a forest if they walked in on him murdering their wife.

And then give him a blowjob from the passenger seat on the drive home.

Not suggesting anything of the sort, he was our best player yesterday - for 20 minutes against 10 men.

Is he capable of being that good for 90 minutes against 11 men? Only the staff have the live on pitch data to say.
Good impact sub though for anyone wishing to give any credit to the club.

David Brooks was capable of showing world class qualities for 10 minutes of certain games, could he do it consistently for 90 minutes, three games a week?

But then according to one poster Wilder sold Brooks - because he was a Christian.

According to another poster Wilder may be paying Choudhary £50,000 per week.

It's a dangerous place this internet, you could end up believing that Vladimir Putin is a humanitarian.

Yeah, right.

Of course, if he doesn;t start, there will be another two hundred 'Wilder Out!' threads.

It works both ways mate.

A baffling way of explaining it away

Name an exciting direct player that does the magic for 90 minutes?
Currie didn’t Best didn't Messi or Ronaldo didn't
Flair players will always make mistakes but that little bit of magic wins games
I don’t put Donovan with those players
But rather than focus and make noise on the bits that go wrong allow his natural ability to nurture let the lad prosper and accept with the flair comes failure

A baffling way of explaining it away

Nothing to do with 'explaining it away' it's all about balance and perspective, based upon 'facts' which none of us know, so we make some up.

See Dean Henderson for loan youth player, signed by Wilder, who played every game for 90 minutes.

In a world where results don't count , then play play all the flair players who can illuminate the pitch for 10/20 minutes because the fans love to see it.

In the real world where results are important, you need to strike a balance.

Tanganga cant play RB. You obviously dont go to matches clown. Im better at RB than Tanganga is.

He should start though. He’s much more effective than BBD or Chong and makes it appear like we actually want to attack against the opposition instead of playing a timid and defensive style with zero pace.

I honestly think Wilder is at the point with Donovan like he was with Brooks, where he seemed to point out every mistake he made and not praise any of the good things he did.

He seems to get very defensive when he’s asked why he’s not playing certain players. I’d have thought as a 1000+ game manager he’d have developed a thick skin by now.

The non-flair players got us to 1 nil down against a very poor, 23rd placed Derby team. I’d rather we take a chance with the flair players.

very feisty aren't you?

No, Im being serious. I played RB in a pub league. Hes shite trust me.

Totally agree.

Or he’ll just have an average game and then be dropped the following match.

“Needs to make an impact in games to be playing”.

“Inconsistent”.

So it’ll be back to BBD who makes zero impact and gets away with it.
