Is it possible for a player to win Wilder over once he has decided that he doesn't want the player? Can McGuinness do this? Are there any past players who have done this?

Tin foil hat time but it's possible CW saying McGuinness didn't have a future here was the target McGuinness needed to up his game. Could have been a man management master stroke.

Or I'm talking bollocks of course.

Very first thing he did in his first tenure was put K Freeman on the transfer list, ended up having his best season and signed a new contract for another 3 years (where Baldock overtook him). But he still got another 3 years on the back of being transfer listed!

Oh yes! What a strange player he was that season. Kept popping up all over the place and scoring. Loved him.

I think wilder and the team continually look at what we’ve got and try to use them in the best way for the team. Think it was the case with Lundstram, barely used before we got to the premier league and then was the first name on the team sheet.

Hes also not afraid to move players on if they don’t end up being the player he thought they were when he signed them.

Paul Coutts. End of thread.

Yeh remember Wilder saying that on day 1 of his management telling Coutts he wasn’t in his plans but the door remained open to change his mind.
Even I wasn’t impressed with Coutts but his quick transformation playing simple pass and move football was fantastic to see.
Just shows you can never write players off.

For a season and a third he was a joy to watch. That night at Burton felt like a death in the family. I remember his return at Blackburn away came on in second half but never got back to that level, who knows if he hadn't had the leg break. His stats were off the scale

Making me laugh seeing McGuiness being compared to some of these players

No 😂😂😂
