If we could start again with Wilder v1 I’d have a little bit of hope.

Keeping this version will probably mean we start in this division but gives us zero advancement as a club under his iron fist.

We need a full reset from the ground up, even if that means a few seasons back in League 1.
point proven absolute helmet are you disabled in the head

I’m not Wilder 3.0 biggest fan, but I’d honestly not trust this board with appointing anyone. So I think sticking with him is as good as we can hope for until something big changes behind the scenes.

Maybe that’s a defeatist attitude. But I think it’s the depressing truth of where we are at.

Sack him now?

He’s got us a point away with a good defensive display with a bench containing RND, Shackleton and Tyred Campbell who looks like he doesn’t give a monkeys or is seriously knackered.

In that display, l’m still not convinced Rothwell is an answer, Peck was only steady but Arblaster looked good while he was on. Back 4 protected Cooper well enough.

Whatever anyone thoughts on Wilder going forward, as things stand at the club a call to sack him after that is truly ridiculous.

I am now calling him Tired Campbell for ever more. 👏👏

I'm certainly no Wilder fan, didn't want him back 2nd time, certainly didn't want him back a 3rd time, but who is going to sack him now? The owners certainly have no clue what they are doing other than thieving, the only bloke who knows a bit about football is Wilder. At this moment in time he is all that stands in between this club falling to pieces. I don't agree with him bringing in older players and his tactics are abysmal but at least he seems to be sorting out our defence, next job is to get the midfield creating and attack scoring. Today's midfield were hopeless, I don't see what Rothwell offers, Peck and Arblaster look lost, the less said about Cannon and Campbell the better. Wilder won't take this team up more chance of us going down, but the owners have fed him a shit sandwich without a sprinkling of sugar on it.

What do you know about tactics to have this opinion sir ?

You'd rather a new manager and have another 6 seasons in L1?

Braindead some of our fans.

I understand having an opinion but don't jus say tactics are abysmal and don't speak of an alternative were building confidence back and trust tactics were bang on against one of most possession based teams in league were unlucky not to have stole 3 points

Exactly how I feel to be honest.

Wilder v1, easily the best manager in my lifetime. Wilder v3 is like a shadow of that man but what we really need through this period is some continuity in that position.

He’s a blade, we know he’ll give it his best. He’s spoken publicly about regretting how he left the first time so I don’t think he’ll walk unless it gets really bad. We can’t really afford to waste a fortune sacking him again and who else is there better than wilder who would take us over currently? Fucking no one.

I think we need him as close to his best as possible and he needs us as well. He’s on a general downward trajectory without us. Hes the best we can get right now and we’re probably the biggest job he can get too.

👏This.

I forgot Cannon. It’s easily done even when he’s on the pitch!

He’s a very defensive manager now. Lost a lot of confidence and swagger. Let’s see if he can improve things going forward. Huge few weeks for him to show some skill. If he can’t coach better performances out of this lot then eventually the nil nils will run out and we will start losing matches.

I think you need to give James Bord his ZX Spectrum back.
The intelligence coming out of it is on par with that from last summer.

Also known in binary as nonsense.

1st rule of football is not to loose.

Attacking/flair players cost a king's ransom compared to defensive ones. We're skint.
I hear what you are saying but Nigel Clough can also manage defensive players. His wages are probably less. We need more than just a rearguard from Wilder, we need him to develop a fully formed team through wheeling and dealing. He seems to have lost that skill since his first go at managing us

Hobson’s choice. Stick with a poor manager or trust these idiots to appoint someone else.

Better the devil you know.

We’re up the creek without a paddle.

The squad is very defensive, of the attacking midfielders - Chong & Donovan are League 1 standard. O’Hare is better but will not get goals and isn’t imposing enough on games to do it alone.

I’m not sure anyone else improves this and the current boardroom set up is very unlikely to recruit anyone better anyway.

Wilder is defensive in general. I can recall an interview with our beloved Alan Biggs and Alan Knill a couple of years into their first term at United. Knill was saying that in training Wilder would concentrate on the defensive systems and Knill on the attack, despite Knill being a defender. Knill also quipped that if it was up to him we would play total football but Chris would rather prefer a slightly less risky approach. . . . I am pleased that Wilder is still with us right now though.

CW 1 is history. This version is a shadow of that first incarnation.

I didn't rate CW 2 and last season and, in any ideal world we get shut and get a better manager in.

But, we're as far from an ideal situation as it's possible to get.

He's benefitted from being able to bull**** this lot so, now they've shown us who they really are, he'll be here until they either get a football brain on the board who can grip the problem properly and replace him and the recruitment team or they sh*t the bed again and get shut.

Rinse & repeat it is then, with hopefully less deflection to 'culture' this season.

I’ve been constant in my view that Wilder 1.0 was one of the best, if not the best, I’ve seen in my time. I’ve also been constant in my view that we shouldn’t have gone back to him.

I’ve lost trust in the board, in COH or whatever they call themselves this week. I’ve no love for the Prince either, I’m sure Mcabe is thinking what goes around comes around.

But two wrongs don’t make a right. It might be “the way things are done in the corporate world”. But in my world view of right and wrong, it’s a shithouse trick. What if I bought a burger and then only paid half?

Wilder is a mardy, truculent, chip on both shoulders sod as he has got older and I have no time for his entourage.

All of that being said, he’s the only man at the club that I trust, given the situation we are in

agree 100% with all of that metal more or less said the exact same things to my lad last night and know it was probably the right tactics yesterday to get a result but the tactics are so boring hopefully we bring 3/4 good loan signings in to allow us to be more expansive
