Maybe the club is keeping him under wraps until the transfer window closes on Sunday night?

Closes Monday night I believe
Can't see what all the fuss is about. He looked good at the academy, called up by the Italian U18s and looked good for them. Played a cameo in the 1st team and looked more than decent and looked set to break into the first team last seaon. Then he got the injury playing for Italy that kept him out for most of last season and in most expert opinions can take a full 12 months for full recovery. So in effect he's right on schedule allowing for the injury. No cotton wool, no Billy big potatoes, no flash car, no dodgy haircut, no iffy agent (that might not be a no), but lots of unnecessary hysteria and expectation. Never mind all this bollocks about why the big Italian superstar is not getting games when Dimaio, Reed, Khan etc have. No confusion over this, the answer is that none of them are recovering from a bad cruciate ligament injury. I understand he was getting a bit stroppy about not playing towards the end of last season and was told in no uncertain terms that he plays when Clough and the medical team think he's ready, not before.
does indeed, obviously dependant on club name.
What I don't buy is the argument 'he looked more than decent when he played in the first team'. Well did he? I've only seen him twice for the firsts, but really he has done nothing to suggest he's this wonder kid. All I remember him doing against fenerbahce was picking it up on the wing and running the ball straight out of play. I think a lot of people need to learn to reserve judgement rather than assume he's anything other than another academy player at this stage. Lest we forget, Clough has been more than happy to play Reed, Dimaio, Khan, Kennedy etc so he clearly puts lads in when they're good enough. If Clough doesn't think he's good enough then that tells me all I need to know about him at this stage.
My judgement has come from watching him quite a lot of times at the academy, now don't get me wrong,it might not be the best barometer, but i'll trust my own judgement and instincts on this lad. He's a player,no two ways about it.What I don't buy is the argument 'he looked more than decent when he played in the first team'. You say Cloughy puts people who are good enough to play, and who warrant a first team spot in the first team.Well Butler can't get a game and he's proven at the level, also Cloughy got the first 2 games wrong selection wise so why is it not possible to get this lad wrong.
Don't get me wrong,Cloughy has got most things right, but it is possible for him to get some things wrong.
My main point Bartman is we don't have to think everything Clough does is right,as has been proved.I've seem all the minutes DG has played for the 1st team(including JPT and pre season friendlies and he certainly hasn't lived up to the hype. Indeed at York, he was awful and he kept attempting these fancy flicks when turns and a simple forward pass to a player in a shooting position or even a shot when he had a clear sight of target seemed to be beyond him. He first told was also poor.
As for Butler, maybe he hasn't shown he is good enough. All because he can't get a game doesn't mean NC is wrong. Would you pick Butler ahead of HM2 and Collins at the moment ? I
In terms of selection, it could be argued that Doyle ,Collins and Butler were a little complacent in pre season and they needed a kick up the backside. The first two have responded well.As for Butler ? Those of us who saw the Mansfield game will know he has to take a step up to earn his place.
Yes I think the selection was wrong for the 1st two games but maybe NC was prepared to gamble to make his point. For me, his biggest mistakes have been playing Scougill when injured and Davies out of position.

No i wouldn't pick Butler, that was just an example.Have a look at all my team selections in previous posts,i have McGahey and Collins in every one of them.
You bring examples up of friendlies, where allmost every player was utter shite, but i won't hold that against you as its just an example.
Like i said, its my opinion of the lad, that is all.
They do if they have difficulties in a relationship with their present manager.Whilst you are ofcourse entitled to your opinion, I don't see why this decision specifically is one you disagree with. There is zero evidence thus far that DDG can cut it at a level anywhere near league 1 yet. You said yourself performing in academy games means nothing, and there are lads younger than him in and around the first team. Despite the conspiracy theories, Clough is leaving him out for one reason only - he doesn't believe DDG is good enough. This is a guy who started Reed at 17 and Will Hughes at the same age too so age isn't the problem. Clough has an eye for a player, and seen as De Girolamo's position is the place we are really lacking, him being nowhere near the starting line up should be an indicator he isn't that great. I don't think many future 'wonder kids' are failing to make the bench at a League 1 side at 18 years of age, do you?
Absolutely no evidence for this, other than it suits the argument. They do if they have difficulties in a relationship with their present manager.
I'm not arguing,i'm stating my opinion. If i thought the lad was good enough but couldn't get in,i would draw my own personal lines on that.No one else has too,not you,not anyone.Absolutely no evidence for this, other than it suits the argument.
He never has any issues playing for Italy.I wonder how many players they have to pick from.Absolutely no evidence for this, other than it suits the argument.

No dis respect pal,but i don't have accounts on any social networks, nor do i read any of them. The only thing i'm a member of is this forum.I get my information off here, which is normally quite good, and people who i'm associated with.I certainly don't read blades mad,no dis respect to people what do by the way.Thought i'd just clear that up for you and anyone else for that matter. And silly i'm not pal.So he has fallen out with Clough and your evidence is that he plays for one of Italy's junior sides.
You are being silly now
There has been no falling out, If there was ,he wouldn't be anywhere near the U21's let alone the 1st team it is just that he is not good enough at the present time( as evidenced by his appearances). You should stop believing the rubbish spoken on Blades Mad/Twitter/Facebook (delete as appropriate)
The injury he suffered for Italy has set him back big time, and his U21 displays, have been average at best. He needs a loan spell, so we can see what he can do with a run in a side. He does need to work harder, and not try to do it on his own, but the lad is learning, and I have heard his attitude is spot on.
I was about to post exactly this, having seen a lot of him in the academy and every minute he's played for the first team.
He's a very talented lad... but one that needs to properly recover from injury and get his previous form back.
Get him some games in and regularly re-access for me.
As someone who has only seen a few minutes of him here and there I would be interested to know if you think he can be a top, top, top top top top top player?
There has always been so much hype about him which suggests that injury or not, he would be at least knocking on the door by now. How good do you think he can be?
... but he is the most talented attacking player I've seen us produce.
