In terms of being a match winner, he’s clearly not Hamer’s replacement, he’s a different player for a different role. Peck isn’t a match winner by that definition either for example.

For what its worth I think that if this deal is a good for United and the player as the last one was its a no lose for us. He plays and is good we have a fantastic deal, he's doesn't play much or gets injured it costs next to nothing.

Really think there should be some credit to the club IF that's the case.

It's a LOAN ffs. We've not splashed millions on him. Ok no doubt his wages will be high. Yes he's had a history of injuries.
But he's also a player of some quality. Something we need.
If he does get a long term injury......... he goes back to Citeh to recuperate and we don't pay anything while he does. ( not entirely sure it works like that but I would hope that's the case)
What have we got to lose? If he performs to his potential then great. If not he goes back

The main issue is he's taking up a squad place and wages which could/should be used on someone that will actually play. Gus was always criticised for his fitness but he played more games last season than Philips has in 3 years. We were supposed to sign Philips weeks ago but he injured his thigh.

If he was the player Man City signed it's a no brainer but he'll be in and out the team all season when we need our strongest 11 out every week. Injury prone midfielders will constantly disrupt that as Wilder will shoehorn him in whenever he can.

So.. we've been after him all summer but finally sign him the week then season starts, meaning he's had no pre season, while Wilder continues to make a big song and dance about how important pre season is?

He won't be match fit for weeks meaning we'll basically a midfielder short for weeks. Wilders other target being Souttar will also fuck off to the Asia cup or whatever it is, and miss a bunch of games.

Two marquee signings, both have barely played in the last few years, both have really poor injury records and both will miss large parts of the season. Another masterclass from Wilder.

I said that about match fitness and some plank asked how I would know he isn't match fit. Ummm, I dunno, cos he hasnt played any matches recently maybe?

I thought it was telling in his interview that the interviewer didn’t ask the obligatory question of how fit he is so that he can reply with he’s in the best shape of his career and he’s raring to go. For me that obviously means he’s going to need 3 weeks to get up to speed. We’ve got adequate depth to deal with that. If we’re patient with him in very confident we’ve got a proper player.

I am not sure taking advice of a Wednesday can regarding transfers can be taken seriously. When you need money you sell players, helps pay the bills. I know this is something alien to you.

On the other point, I would say bringing phillips in is pure lunacy on our part.

Will have gone through all the metrics needed for full fitness ,city will have put on closed door friendlies on for there shadow squad ,will he be as match sharp as some of ours that have had 5 competitive games probably not ,but he's naturally a fit lad (baring injuries) so hopefully a couple of sub appearances and he will be in

I think Phillips is a lot better player than Peck. I thought Peck was poor for the most part last season and he has often flattered to deceive.

It would do both Peck and Arblaster the world of good to start on the subs bench and to have to fight their way in to get a shirt.

Given the transfer fees paid for KP along with the England caps, I’d hope he’s seen as better than Peck.

We’d have been fine with Peck though, he’s good enough and stays fit.

If we take a step back and look at the squad on paper (i've added Souttar and Jack Clarke), that is a fantastic squad of players for the Championship. Easily a top 8 squad.

Flat 3 in midfield in a 4-3-1-2


Or even an attacking 4-3-3


I'd like to see Jack Clarke, or even Brereton-Diaz come in for the 1st choice left side.
