My worry is if Sydie goes, it leaves us with three, one cant last 60 mins another coming back from injury and trying to find his form and the last not played for three years.
The championship is a long and hard season.Good luck Wilder you may need it.

Does anyone know what the squad rules are regarding home grown , loans etc..

Is it something like 8 homegrown ?

Also what does that mean in terms of our squad.

Thanks in advance

I genuinely don’t really get the reaction. He’s a risk, but if we can defy the odds he’s comfortably the best midfielder in the league. If we can’t it’s a position we’re covered
Poor availability
Poor form across his last 3 moves
An area where we're comparatively well stocked
A poor, expensive use of limited resources
Not a match winner, after having lost a match winner
Expensive loan, no resale value
No long term planning for the squad

This is just a proper weird signing for me.

If we’re selling Peck, it’s necessary. If not then I just don’t get it.

Undoubtedly a good player if/when available, but we now have Reidewald and Phillips in a ‘can’t play more than 60 mins’ midfield for at least the first 3 months of the season, until one of them gets injured or suspended, or both.

We need goals and a centre half, plus a decent RB to challenge Seriki. We have tonnes of CM’s already.

Means that Monty is lacing up his boots again

I think Phillips is a lot better player than Peck. I thought Peck was poor for the most part last season and he has often flattered to deceive.

It would do both Peck and Arblaster the world of good to start on the subs bench and to have to fight their way in to get a shirt.

The kind of players Wilder seems to love signing puts me in mind of something I still remember from 40 years ago on Saint & Greavesie.

It came when Trevor Francis had returned from Italy and signed for Souness at Glasgow Rangers. Ian St John commented on the unusual nature of the contract in that Francis had signed on a pay-as-you-play basis of £2,000 a game.

To which Jimmy Greaves quipped "the thing is Saint, can Trev survive on six grand a year?"

The club's lost £45 million, and there's just no getting away from it. That means being canny in the market, which I think Wilder is trying to be.

Provided it doesn't mean that Peck's doing the Shoreham shuffle, I don't think Phillips is a bad addition by any means.

Wilder's an experienced manager, and he obviously thinks he can make it work, so it's a case of trusting his judgement.

I understand the cynicism and scepticism surrounding this, but it's wrong to condemn a man before he's even kicked a ball.

Best judge Phillips when the studs hit the turf.

Gives peck (if he's here) more of a licence to get forward, whilst he's not in the same tier indo see peck as a Declan rice type of player
