Cannon obviously.

Saying McGoldrick is just daft nostalgia.

I love Billy Sharp as well but I wouldn't want him in the team either.
Didzy offered a hell of a lot more than Cannon today.

I’m not saying Didzy should start, or that we should even get him back, but I honestly don’t see what Cannon offers.

Oh come on.

McGoldrick is nearly 39.

If we're looking at 39 year olds I'd probably take Messi but that's about it.

I’m not saying if you had to sign a striker, would it be him. I’m saying between the two of them, who wouldn’t rather have.

Neither of them are currently good enough to play for us. But out of the two, I’d see a clear use for Didzy and I have no idea what Cannon is meant to do.

Even if Cannon was completely useless, which I don't think he is, he's still a young striker that we paid damn good money for.

There's a reason McGoldrick hasn't kicked a ball in the Championship for over four years.

I don't really care about age, that just shouldn't even be an issue. Surely it's irrelevant if the player in question is fit, moves well and still remembers how to play the game.

A lot of people seem to believe that when you turn 30+ then that's it. Many years ago that was the case, but there's much more knowledge available now about how to look after ourselves as we get older e.g. diet and specific exercises etc.

Maybe Cannon might be good when he gets to the age of 30? Late bloomer.

Not a fair comparison in my view.

Cannon is a young lad with as yet unfullfilled or heavily disguised potential and McGoldrick is a player at the cusp of his playing days but who has been there, done that and who still oozes class.

I think the post might be how disapointing Canon has been. The fact that we would even consider a 39 year old to be better than our 10 million man is a joke. Didzy, different gravy that lad. Fair play to him.
Canon, please ffs do something to make be stop thinking that you steal a wage!

Heavily disguised is an understatement. It's not your average pair of comedy specs and eyebrows with a stick on beard, it's the full Face Off treatment.

We had a conversation about this today and I’m genuinely interested in people’s views.

I’d genuinely take Mansfield’s Rhys Oates over Cannon. He’s stronger, faster, holds the ball up better, runs in behind. He’d probably get 8 goals for us this season and offer the team a hell of a lot more than Cannon does.

True and I do agree with the statement, if we were to put the closest comparison we could, firstly the ages. Didzy signed for Forest from Southampton after their relegation for a reported £1million. During his time appearances at Forest Didzy scored 8 times in 63 appearances. He spent time out on loan at several League 1 clubs before eventually signing for Ipswich. It depends on what you want from a player both players are different both in stature and skills

Doesn’t paint a good picture does it.

Cannon out, Vardy in.

That would be such a banter move and I bet Wilder would have no hesitation. Same with Bamford, on a lesser scale.

What can you say about Cannon? Powerful shot is about it, he doesn't win headers, he doesn't hold the ball up well, he lacks any pace, his movement is abysmal, he is always on his heels and slow to react. Unfortunately it isn't going to work out for him here, for everyone's sake we need to move him on. The trouble is Wilder is still trying to justify the £10m we wasted on him.

One good thing about Cannon is people only claim £10M compared to the ever expanding fee for Brewster, which some claimed to be £25M+ at times. Cannons 'how much!?' protestations are at least consistent and have, thus far, avoided the hyperbolic inflation.

Odd thought that one, but I'm going with it.
