Will this be the first time Didsy plays against us since he left btw? Assuming he plays... I wouldn't cry if he scored a hattrick!

I would because I value my team more than an ex player.

This baffles me. it was the same when Louis Reed scored twice in the same game against us having never scored for us. Why are we happy for ex players doing us over?

As for the game, I expect a half arsed effort and defeat, as per usual in this competition.

There's just no excuse for putting out a half arsed team.

We don't have a plethora of new signings to bed in, so the least we can do is come into the season with some continuity.

I'm expecting:

Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Baptiste McCallum
Peck Riedewald
Donovan O'Hare Hamer
Bamford

Subs: Davies, Doherty, McGuinness, Burrows, Rothwell, Arblaster, Chong, Cannon, One.

You could make a case for not including McGuinness as Doherty can play there. You could create room for Campbell to get some much needed minutes, but if he's not fit enough then he needs to focus on that.

Be interesting to see if Peck and Hamer start. It is a cup game that in all honesty I don't really care about. But if there not even on the bench then i would say they have played their final game for us.

Should be treated as a final pre-season game as we already have to play 46 games in the championship this year with the ridiculous internation breaks in between. Don't mind an F.A. Cup run but not bothered about the league cup. Never have and never will (unless we win it haha)

Is it just me that is excited? doesn't matter about pre season now. its time for this squad to show that it can deliver some half decent performances, and I believe it can.

I would start with Chong, but otherwise I think thats how we should line up.

Done all bar Chesterfield (was away). Thought we approached Bochum in a competitive manner. Halifax and Rotherham we did in the second half.

Expect pretty much first team and a competitive approach on Sunday.

Wouldn’t be going if I wasn’t looking forward to it!

I’m intrigued as I also like to see teams come through adversity.

Ok, we have done little in the transfer market. We have plenty of in contract players.

You can understand a need to offload some of them first; it isn’t a bottomless pit.

We’re happy with both fullbacks and keeper. We’re probably fine with Tanganga. Worst case scenario, where get a loan in when the higher ups have sorted themselves. BBC article today shows Chelsea almost done their squad but have to cut numbers from 41, so some players availability will increase. But no point blooding Baptiste then not letting him play vs Mansfield.

I think most expect Phillips to sign on loan probably in the window but we did well with Riedewald in the team and most are not looking to replace Peck/Arblaster.

O’Hare and Bamford were player of the year and top scorer so I doubt anyone has an issue with them. We won’t sign a significant left sided option until we know Gus’ future. Donovan looks fine and Chong perhaps settles in and has a more consistent season.

The planned window is likely Souttar/Phillips/BBD or Jack Clarke, all of which can wait after Mansfield.

Look at Bristol City, exciting new manager and signings yet dumped out by Walsall.

Bring on the season!

From current state of play i can see it being following team.

--------------------Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Baptiste McCallum
-------------Rothwell Arblaster
Donovan--------Ohare--------------Chong
--------------------Cannon

Maybe One for chong if fit maybe Bamford for cannon * Going off preseason and line ups.

We could possibly have RND LB and Mcallum LW. We are incredibly short in numbers on the wings & at the back.

dont really have much to choose from, and we look is serious danger if we pick up a few injuries early on.

The defence will be tested by McGoldrick (crafty) Smith (ex pig) and Akins (Terrifies defenders)......can they cope... i hope not and they get battered (sad to say) .....might just be what the owners need to get their hands in their pockets.

I watched Mansfield against Derby and the score flattered Derby.

Sunday will see Mcgoldrick pass the torch to Mcchongy... Goal for each of them.

Do what you can ,
With what you have ,
Where you are.

Theodore Roosevelt

For all I vent my spleen about our self-harm through incompetent owners & management 2020-26 ,
There's nothing we can do about it.
We've tried the PL and it doesn't suit us.
Can we cling onto our traditional place in the second division ?

The only thing to do now is go to the matches and hope the manager & players do their best.

But woe betide the manager if he makes stupid decisions.
And woe betide any player I see phoning it in.
Other than that , let's see if one or two of them can aspire to be heroes.

Get knocked out of cup onto the league
Lost before a balls been kicked can’t see where a goals coming from

With no Hamer, probably, this game will, hopefully, show the lads have moved on and ready to get the season started with a great performance. However, in reality, I feel Wilder will play conservatively at best, have the usual excuses in front of the media and well be out of the tin pot cup with a whimper. God, I hope we show some passion and the lads gel rather than the first time we've played together cup efforts of the past.
Hope 4-1 win
Expect 0-0, 3-4 loss on penalties
